I’d rather not have a friend like Charlie..

That right there is why I refuse to do work for friends and family. Don't get me wrong, I will do the usual maintenance. Normal stuff. Any type of custom work, not a chance. Because now all of a sudden they want stuff for free. Parts, labor, whatever. It's like they want your company to just dissolve the cost of parts somehow, somewhere. And labor cost ? "You expect your family member to pay the same as Joe Blow ?" I can imagine that other tradesmen encounter the same issues with friends and family. It really sucks that people you consider to be your friends, will try to take advantage of your abilities and position. The only person in my family that I really wanted to do any real work for,,,.he passed away, not even 6 months after me starting in the trade. One thing that really upsets me still to this day, my dad never got to see me make that transition into becoming an adult. I learned a lot from that man. It was because of him why I decided to become a mechanic. He had a passion for bikes ,cars, and trucks. I really wanted his guidance, and to teach me. Not just about fixing cars. I wanted him to teach me how to become a man, and be respected by your peers. This is going on 40 years since he passed away. I wish he didn't have to leave so soon. I never even got the opportunity to say goodbye.

If he is you friend making all these demands and then pulls out from purchase maybe the cost shows friendship doesn't seem worth all the trouble dan has had.

Dan was, and still is, the "Top Man" at "FantomWorks" Some people have given him much criticism. But he, like me, is a true Automotive Fan, and in particular loves those late 60's early 70's Muscle cars. I am from the UK and have just recently began to watch, and appreciate this show. What I like about Dan is, not only his love of American cars, But also his dedication to the craft of re-engineering these great old cars. He seems a genuinely nice guy, who has served in the US military, and since then pursued his passion for all Americana. I have taken photo's of most of those beautiful cars and totally appreciate where he is coming from. Thanks Dan

when you are in the car business everyone thinks they are your friend and everyone thinks you do this just because you like to not because you are earning a living! People what you to do excessive amount of work for nothing! its a hard business. customers budgets don't usually match their goals.

Charlie was totally obnoxious and Dan should of told him no thanks! They never said what the car was sold for! Charlie ran away at the end and Dan had the car and test drove it at the track! Charlie is a bad guy!

I used to watch it all the time with my husband but he doesn't treat his workers with decency, he is always coursing and put them in shame on TV. In the other shows they have fun, they joke around with the owners..the workers look happy
