In this episode of "The Appraiser," Colin has the opportunity to look over a 1971 Ford Bronco that has lived its life the way it was intended, rough and rowdy. Cory, the owner of this Bronco, takes it on all sorts of adventures, wheeling in the desert, crossing rivers, and bombing through the woods. Cars & trucks were made to be driven, especially Bronco's, but living such a rough life, will it have taken a toll on the value of this truck? Tune in and find out.

precisely why I won't 't waste money on any antique something whose value is destroyed by just using it...especially when a new one is almost as fun! As long as you don't crash that classic muscle car at the track, for example, it still looks very nice. And I'd travel all over North America exploring the trails, which this guy doesn't do either.

I love seeing people use a car the way they are meant to be used and not worrying about having a concours restoration.

Love the fact that you did a video on a vehicle that was not perfect. It let's us know that it's okay and perfectly fine to have an older collector vehicle that gets used.

That's my kind of Bronco owner. 100% restorations are neat to look at and I'm sure a great investment for those who are into that, but I prefer a Bronco- or a vintage Jeep, Scout, Land Rover, etc.. to be used- and taken care of. That's what they are for!

Perfect example of what a older car, classic car or truck, muscle car, etc etc can be. Something to be driven NOW and enjoyed. Way to many times have we seen a vehicle in this type of shape taken apart for “restoration” only to see it out of commission and sit for years and years. Meanwhile everything else starts to rot, leak, age to the point of a basket case. Keep it down to weekend projects, repairs and maintenance to keep it on the road. Why do so many people think they have to completely restore a vehicle in order to enjoy it.

One thing the appraiser didn't mention is the fact that the rear fenders were original uncut. Even though it's got the body lift and it's capable off road it's nice to have that look still.

Any perceived imperfections only make this Bronco more perfect. As others have written, it works, it does what it’s intended to do. Very cool, very nice. Thanks to the owner and Colin for sharing this, truly enjoy The Appraiser. ~ Chuck

My favorite thing is to buy classics heading to the junk yard. Fix them up but keep patina and than drive them till they need work again. Most my cars turn heads but I always say. It’s a drivers car so a scratch or dent wont make me mad. Enjoy what you own and than pass it on the best you can. 😊

In the current times of increasing driver automation and electrified propulsion, historic car preservation has to serve different goals. There are concours keepers, which look at least as good as new and then there’s these. The abilities of old cars, especially off roaders and race-cars, need to be well understood, so we can know that the automative future does not inevitably mean progress.

Nice ride, sure can see that clean in Michigan, lol! Grew up with a buddy's dad (& him later) 71-72? With a 351, thought he got it new, but lots of dealers would mod & sell as new for a client... Great fun, good memories!! Thanx !

My mother lived the last twenty years of her life in So Cal and back in the early nineties there was a mint 1966 Bronco for sale on someone’s front yard in Buena Park for 4 grand and I almost bought it and finally passed because I thought it was too much money, who knew that ICON would buy a good number of them up and prices would skyrocket to the insane amount they are today ..

I have a 64 Scout that I maybe drive 100 miles a year. It has an older frame off restoration. I wanted to put Hagerty insurance on it but the paperwork said no off road use. I live in northern Michigan and it does get driven on two tracks and trails around camp. I definitely don't wheel it. Can I insure it with you?

To me (especially a truck) you can always do a "frame off" it is RUST that is the true enemy, potentially ruining the originality.

He should repaint it in those colors because it's perfect, then wrap it with vinyl paint protection, refresh the interior, and at least make it nice and protect it with thick, clear vinyl so he can still really enjoy it however he wants.

@Jhon Ditch No you missed the point because repainting it and working on it with his kids would take it from something they enjoy to something to something they enjoy that they have sweat equity in. Taking it from something they enjoy to something they love.

OLD MAN RANT ALERT!! If lenders were left holding the bag when the people they give financing to on 20+ year old vehicles defaulted, these things wouldn't be valued at 1/3 of what they are. While cheaper to maintain than something just out of warranty, you can't just pull it into a dealer for repairs unless you want to get a laugh watching the kids try to find the OBD port. They take mechanics that know what they are doing with these classics to keep them reliable and they are dying off faster then the prices of these are rising.
