In SC Coastal Plain in non fescue country but have it on an old pasture. Works where there is shade (under pecans) and in wetter areas.

if you can add some clover it will help a lot

Do that most years in lots of different mixes but have yet to plant the forage types by themselves with nothing else. Have done it with wheat but didn't graze it. Also, seed cost is really high this year. Lastly, clovers don't always fix nitrogen.

Might try Indian grass if the fescue doesn’t take. . Grows well in bottoms. Holds protein longer after going dormant. Stockpile in the fall and let it go to seed. Graze it in the winter instead of hay. Will not be green all winter like fescue but will produce lots of forage without fertilizer

Do you know if there is anywhere in East texas where I can rent a no till drill? I seeded August 1st. Broadcast 12 different seeds and am only seeing cow peas. Bumming me out.
