It is so much fun when Matt is at the farm. I really like his humor. It was so funny when the pig got his foot. Was so happy to see the wormy dance made it back. It gets better each time we see it. TIP of the day. Use bird netting doubled over all along the chain link fence. Snakes get trapped in it. It has worked for me.

Hello Ralph, LeaAnn & Matt! Matt, you are getting so comfortable around the animals! You even walked around the pig area! I love chunnels. I made chunnels for our chickens when they were little. I used welded wire. The hoops are a great idea. Use either hardware cloth or the fine mesh that you can use in the garden. The chickens will love it. Your shade cloth is a good idea to protect the chickens from aerial predators. In their regular area they can run in the pen fairly quickly. I don’t know if you have hawks in your area presently, but they move in quickly. We have three kinds of hawks and a couple of different owls in my area. The chickens are closed up at night so owls aren’t an issue.

I've seen where some folks have made a tunnel for their chickens and it works, also another idea where someone either made or purchased a ball like cage big enough for a chicken to go inside, so chicken can still graze but is protected from predators ... similar idea to the gerbil ball

We bought eggs the other day. Says medium but they were smaller than your small ones. Someone i watch hatched out some pullet eggs. I had no idea one could do that. Apple cider vinegar taste good in salads and dressings. Very healthy for man or beast.

Here is my thought on the chicken tunnel idea. Separate the fence like Matt suggested. Put the tunnel in and then close up the top opening with some chicken wire or some kind of mesh that will close up the gap. Maybe drill some holes in the tunnel right by the fence also so you can wire the tunnel on the sides to the fence so nothing can work their way inside. Chickens need to take the dust baths to clean their feathers of mites. I know they look like they are dying but think of what they are shaped like. They do the best that they can and I am sure it tires them out to bathe like that in the dirt. There are many kinds of predators that will steal eggs. Rats will and they carry diseases that can affect the birds. Most important that you find out now what it is. Otherwise could cause major trouble later on. Take care.

I'm the same age as Ralph(Grandpa and i have 3 grandsons too 13 11 and 7 and i just love to watch your channel as i feel the same as you and Grandma. Pick your battles and let the other stuff go or put an end to it and remain positive. Life is too short to dwell on negative stuff. GOD is in control and we need not fret. Once awhile our flesh tries to intervene but we have to stand strong !!! Keep doing you and Matt adds some real humor at times but you can tell his sense of humour comes from Grandpa. You might get a cattle panel or two and make a "high tunnel" with skids (to move it easier) and cover it for the chickens to run under for cover in the new area.

You two are hilarious!!! So Ralph, don’t overthink it. Just connect the new fence where Matt said to separate the other two and take two pallets and make a triangular shape so the chickens can run underneath it if a hawk comes after them. Then teach the chickens to get back in the coop at night. No trouble!!! ❤❤❤

Re: The Disappearing eggs. It's been my experience that the culprit(s) don't live in the kitchen. They live somewhere else and travel to the kitchen for their meal. We once had a rattle snake stealing our eggs. It stayed mostly about 20 yards from the coup. We caught the snake only when another party-goer, a weasle, began stealing eggs and trying to chase away the snake. There was an awful brawl late one evening - my dad won. 😊 Hope you find your party crasher!

You should open up a small section on each side of the garden and allow that to be their go through area to the other side of the fence. It would be easier I think instead of building a tunnel and it would also fertilize your garden at the same time
