Even though I was there it’s still fun to watch. Watching it made me realize how forward thinking the engineers were 75 years ago. They knew to put a foot starter on it so I would have a free hand to hold my snack while trying to start it 75 years later!

I still can’t believe you were here mate when I watch your videos or one of mine with you in it. A snack was certainly needed to get it going.

We still have my grandparents HD 7 dozer. They bought it for pushing snow back in the day and 3rd gear was out when he purchased it. He parked it in the quancet in 1995 when we bought our front wheel assist tractor to replace it. We put a can over the exhaust and fire it up every 10 years.

Steve, Jim Rioux from Connecticut, on will it start what difference does it make whether it starts or not. I appreciate learning, by watching. It's a big effort to make these videos and I appreciate that effort. Again I love to watch and learn. I thought about your dog often and truly sorry for your loss. Be good my friend, from one of your original subscribers. Jim
@stevesplacedownunder
@stevesplacedownunder Жыл бұрын
Hi Jim. I haven’t done one yet that didn’t start from memory? But as you say, whether it goes or not it makes for good content. It’s a big effort indeed. I’m kind of struggling to get views at the moment. It seems the more effort we put into it, the less the videos perform. I’m only averaging 2500 views and have over 11,000 subs. It’s a strange thing the internet world mate. I’m still enjoying it a lot though and keeping up the content to you original faithful subscribers is very important to us. It’s hard still after losing the dog because he was always there when I was here at home mate. Thanks as always Jim. Much appreciated mate

Usually if you rotate the engine to a different position where the teeth on the ring gear are not so damaged it will engage correctly unless the hold in solenoid is stuffed or dirty contacts. Engines typically wear the ring gear in three places depending on the engine. 👍🇦🇺

@@stevesplacedownunder Many thanks 👍. I wasn't expecting your reply. I like some Cummins diesels like the C 160 and 290 and the V903 but I love GMs, always have since I was a kid. I know their strengths and weaknesses and how to set up a 71 with turbos and bigger injectors and they've got some kick then. A bit more torque down lower. Anyway stay safe you and family.
