Robbie and Brad check in with 3 previous In The Bag guests in this episode. Were Robbie and Brad's recommendations helpful? Are the guests thinking about their game differently because of their time on the podcast? Most importantly, did the disc they received make the bag???

This channel has been exponentially more eye opening for me as a player than i ever imagined it would be. Being able to see so many different players call in and hearing the variety of discs recommended has given me so much to chew on between episodes that im not really sure i can nail it down to just 1 or 2 things. The first thing that i loved and has really helped my mental game is simply getting to hear from other players and seeing that not everyone who plays throws 400-500 feet like all the facebook people. Hearing people talk about how they throw 275-325 is so relatable and made this such an approachable show and now i feel like part of the norm rather than the odd ball. a second thing i really got from this show is not just thinking about the shot you need but what about the disc makes it fit the slot you need and what about a disc do you like. It was nice to hear that i am not weird for wanting consistency in a mold over trying to beat in a disc till it flys the way i want. Honestly it was also great to see the openess and hearing brad talk about the times when he just straight up didnt like a disc. Another thing this podcast has helped me with is minimizing molds more. I know that seems a little contradicting to what i just said but its really opened my eyes more to the idea of knowing that a fuzion/star/etc plastic will be a little more US than a Lucid/champ/ESP is more helpful for me to know if i have a disc that i like and the Lucid is just a little too beefy then its great to think about just picking up a different plastic and having 2 shots covered by 2 of the same mold without needing to find a whole other mold or waiting forever for a lucid disc to beat in. A final thing that this is helping me out with is looking at other companies and building more of a mixed bag. I have always been someone who sticks with a single manufacturer. This isnt because i think 1 brand is so much more superior than another but more because it helps me in disc selection if my pool of options to buy is a few dozen molds as opposed to the infinite of the multiverse. But hearing different recommendations in the episodes, there have been multiple times when you all are describing what the disc might fill and im thinking "thats exactly what im looking for". So now im looking at adding the envy back in the bag. I picked up an FD after that episode, im really leaning towards joining the uplink cult because i think it could really help my angle control. Oh and actually that reminds me of 1 huge mind blowing thing i hadnt thought about before and its "throwing a disc at 60%". In my whole time playing i always had the idea that discs were supposed to always be thrown at 80% or higher or you wont get the desired flight! Thank you for talking about so many topics, being approachable, and creating an awesome environment where people feel safe not being pros. I have gotten so much out of this series and i could probably go on a lot longer but ill leave it here. Thanks for all your work and i need to stop by the store next time im in lynchburg.

Biggest takeaway: Just because you've had one great shot or one terrible shot with a disc, don't let that define your expectations for it. Along the same lines of having a good throw with a disc when testing it out and throwing at 110% doesn't translate to the course most of the time. See what you lean on in real world scenarios over and over again to see what's worth keeping and what's worth taking out.

My biggest takeaway so far has been to make sure every single disc in my bag has a purpose, and to try to limit the number of molds in the bag. I used to bag ~20+ different molds, now I'm down to ~12, and I could probably continue narrowing down. Thanks for helping me simplify my bag, Robbie and Brad!

I think the most impactful aspect of this show so far has been the focus on subconscious confidence. By limiting the number of molds in my bag, I have been able to focus more on shots than disc choice. I’m currently carrying 7 to 8 molds and loving the simplicity and confidence I have on the course. Thanks for providing such interesting and accessible content.

Loved the recap episode. Honestly, the biggest takeaway from this podcast has been the re-evaluation of my bag and utilizing the same molds in different plastics. The uplink was the best discovery as well said I've now added it into my bag and it truly is a workhorse with such little effort. Replaced a bag with 14 different molds down to 8 now and there's no turning back!!! Keep up the great work on the podcast!

Biggest takeaway, you guys are getting to the core of what will actually improve a players game. Trying to find the right discs and learning how to throw them. I love that you don't have any brand bias at all, which I truly believe holds a lot of players back (including the Pros). Please keep up the great work.

My biggest takeaway from this podcast is the focus on subconscious confidence by narrowing down the number of molds in your bag. Another thing I love is how you throw a disc on every possible angle during the testing, I have been doing this and have discovered several new shots that I didn't have before! Keep up the great work guys!

My biggest takeaway has been fairly consistent across almost every episode. The discussions comparing different discs, and different ranges of discs, as inspired me to try new shots with stuff that is in my bag, and has opened my still-new game up a ton!

This podcast has really taught me a lot about the subconscious confidence that Robbie always mentions. My bag after this podcast is made of all molds that I feel comfortable with and I am throwing bettter then ever. Great jobs guys, love listening to this podcast on my practice rounds. Keep up the good work. God bless!

Hey Brad and Robbie, I’m writing this to enter the mystery box giveaway, but this review isn’t going to be centered around that. This is an amazing podcast and you two help so many players love the sport of disc golf. I’veloved introducing people to the sport and learning it myself. The disc golf community is also awesome, and might be the best part of the sport. For example I was in the retail store with several friends a couple days ago, and you came out and handed us all Double G beef jerky! (we ate all of it during the round haha) But back to the main point, the thing I’ve learned from your podcast is that there isn’t a right or wrong way to enjoy disc golf. I’m competitive, and starting out I just cared about getting better. I was beating everyone I was playing with but complaining about every putt I missed, instead of just enjoying the game! The discs that you recommend on the podcast don’t need to be used the same way for every person, it’s ok to throw a flex line with a disc that’s way too high speed, it’s ok to throw on hyzer every shot, and y’all have reminded me of that! I would watch my friends throw and try to tell them they were doing it wrong, they need to fix this, and do this, blah blah blah You don’t have to be good to enjoy the sport, and getting better at is a blast! Thanks so much for everything y’all do! 1 Corinthians 10:31- Luke Whelan

Hey Robbie and Brad, first want to say LOVIN' this podcast--valuable info and great vibes! Second, the biggest takeaway has to be after listening, how it makes you really dissect or look at your bag. Being enthusiasts and passionate about the sport, you want to bag anything and everything you can get your hands on. But, the podcast has really made me try to be more methodical and to slowly become more intentional, and every disc has its purpose. This allows me to not only learn my bag well, but to trust it. And, I think that's one, if not the most important part of the game--the confidence in your discs and bag! So thanks! Much love!

My biggest takeaway is to consolidate my molds and simplify my game. Listening to you guys every week has made me really think about each of the discs in my bag and their purpose. I’ve taken now 5 molds out of my bag, and replaced them with varying plastics and levels of wear of my favorite mold in that speed slot. I’ve also removed 2 discs that I just liked the idea of throwing (if that makes sense) but never actually threw. I’ve found that these changes have made it substantially easier for me to decide what to throw off the tee, and have increased my consistency off the tee greatly. Now if you guys could just magically make me putt more consistently, I’ll owe you the naming rights of my first born 😂

As a little bit more advanced player I have been pleasantly surprised how much I have gotten from this podcast. Even though most of the guests have been beginners the advice given applies to people of all skill levels. Due to this podcast I am going to go to the field and throw every disc that is in my bag and decide which discs are good and will stay in the bag and which ones I don’t actually need and will be taking out of the bag. Thank you Brad and Robbie for helping me rethink my disc selections and push me to redesign my bag with a more intellectual and intelligent approach.

Biggest takeaway is shot selection. I personally have a coaches mentality. Whether it’s myself or someone in my group, I sometimes see the right shot with the wrong disc. By trying different speeds/stability, it’s just going to make your game that much better. This has been fun to listen to. Keep it up 🤘🏻

My biggest takeaway from this podcast has been to simplify my bag down to a couple molds. I've moved from multiple molds in each slot to a single mold in different plastics for more stability for my mids. This has greatly improved my confidence and comfortability throwing lines in my rounds! Thank you both for this podcast, my wife and I love the show!

I started watching this podcast because I simply like watching content. I didn’t expect that I’d be taking notes along the way. I’ve been able to get something from every week and practice applying it to my game. Honestly, the biggest takeaway I’ve had is that I’ve had discs in my bag for a long time that I’ve wanted to like because of the fact that they’re popular molds, or because of how much money I spent on the disc. But when I throw the disc, I either don’t feel confident, or I have a disc that I like more for that shot. So, as has been the motto of this podcast since week one, they weren’t good so I took them out of the bag. I am able to step up to each shot with more confidence now because I know each disc, how they fly, and that each disc plays a specific role in my bag. I will continue to watch to keep improving my game along the way. Thanks so much to both of you for the help you didn’t know you were giving me!

My biggest take away is to not be afraid to add some variety in brands and plastics. My entire bag is all the same plastic and a different mold for every shot. I thought i was being smart as a beginner. After listening to this I've decided to try some new brands for several reasons and some discs in multiple plastics. I haven't really made any changes due to a lack of time for disc golf currently but I have a whole list of new stuff that I want to try real soon. This is the perfect podcast for newer players to learn to truly think like a disc golfer when it comes to disc selection. Thanks for all that you do.

Biggest takeaway: I haave learned to embrace trying different plastics of molds I have and like. I've also started cycling discs that I love like the DX Eagle and the Halo Tern, which I hesitated to do at first but after listening to the podcast I bought extras. Now they all fill a slightly different role, but with the same comfort and confidence. Can't wait for more episodes!

My biggest take away is that I needed to focus more on mids and throwing putters. Since adding this in my bag, I noticed all the holes I’ve had in my bag. Adding both has given me a more well rounded bag. I’ve been thinking more in depth about my bag and what works for me. Love the podcast!

The biggest lesson I learned from the podcast is to try different things and be open to new ideas. I was trying to limit myself to an all Trilogy bag and as much as I like Trilogy I was finding that I was starting to not have as much fun with the sport because I was artificially limiting myself to discs I wasn't as good with or taking things out that I was good with just because they weren't Trilogy like my trusty Zone. Now I let myself go from that and I'm open to just trying anything and everything to see what works for my arm and my play style and it feels liberating. I'm having a lot more fun playing disc golf now than I was before. Thanks Robbie and Brad for such a good show! I look forward to every episode. It's my favorite podcast right now by far

As a beginner, I have learned a lot from this podcast in terms of what kinds of discs can fill which slots in my bag, and how to narrow down the discs I have to feel more confident in my disc selections when I step out on the course. As I look to expand the fairways portion of my bag I am going to look to focus it on a mold or two that I like how they feel and find the variations in stability among the different plastic types to fit my needs. I really liked the conversation in this episode about the sensitivity of the Uplink. I bought one after the original recommendation was made, and I was finding that it wasn't working for me. Then I realized that I was throwing it wrong haha. It really does become a very good teacher for you as it gives you almost instant feedback on how you are throwing your discs, and it has been very helpful to me as I am learning how to throw with more consistency and better angle control. Thank you guys for all that you do, and for all that you have taught us so far!

My biggest take away from this podcast is that I needed to take a deep look into the fields that my discs can hit. That way I can do any shot I can. I don't have the farthest shooting but making my bag more consistent in being able to land where I want to keeps me competitive in my league. Since taking in what tips this podcast has given me I've been more confident about even participating in leagues. Thank You Guys So Much!

I think the biggest thing I’ve taken away from listening to this podcast, is being willing to try new things. For the greater part of my short disc golf career, I have stuck to the same core discs. Every now and then I’ll switch a new disc in if I lose one or a disc gets too beat in, but for the most part I stuck to the same discs almost to a fault. Listening to this show week after week has helped me to understand that there is a lot to gain from evaluating your bag and assessing the gaps you might have in your disc lineup. I’m excited to grab some new plastic and really take it out into a field and learn the discs in hopes of filling a hole in my game!

My biggest takeaway has been to get rid of discs in my bag that cause me to doubt. An example, I have a stalker, tee bird and Instinct. All of those do fly a bit different but not 250 ft and in, so when I have a 260 ft straight shot I look at those three and question my entire existence. I took out just one and eliminated that subconscious insecurity. I often make the mistake of thinking “I bought this disc so I have to use it” no I don’t, it cost $10 and if I lose something I have a backup for “free”. Thank you guys for the confidence!

Over the past year or so, I’ve really been trying to narrow down my bag and get rid of overlap. In doing so, I feel pretty good about what I have in the bag, and feel that I have what I need regardless of the course and it’s demands. Even still, somewhere along the way, I seem to have forgotten that touch is something that can be applied to discs beyond the short approach shot. I’ve rediscovered shots and disc flights in my game that I forgot I had (Or never had), simply by listening to how Brad has been testing out Robbie’s suggested discs. There have been other takeaways, for sure, but nothing has stood out as much as that. I’ve been loving the show so far, and am excited to get that sweet, sweet intro music pumping away each and every week. Great way to start the weekend! Keep it up!

Todays show was a great reminder that even if you have a bad round or a bad series of rounds, don’t force it or give up on the disc. Dial in the use of the disc and remember what it can do. I cycle stuff in and out of my bag when it feels like it “isn’t working” which leads to a massive uphill battle towards improvement.

My biggest take away from this podcast is not to look at flight numbers when you’re choosing a disc. They may be an indicator of the flight you’re looking for but until you throw it it’s impossible to see how well it will do for you. Trying do use different plastics of the same mould and not to be afraid to go with base plastic in order to cover some shots you’re not able to cover with the discs that you have right now. Great job on this podcast, I can’t wait for Friday’s for new episodes to come out and I’m glad to see I’m part of a group that loves needing out on discs

I've taken note from the recommendations and have started to introduce more people to the sport based off of what you guys have said so far. It's my favorite thing when people first say how can you get a putter to fly like that off of the Tee, but then I just respond with, I don't have to work as hard with throwing it! Let the disc do the work for you! MVP Spin off the Tee is my favorite shot.

This podcast series has been awesome! I watch it every Friday night on my way home from my local doubles league! I have had 2 major takeaways from these episodes. 1: The importance of eliminating overlap and redundancy. I had a lot of discs that did basically the exact same thing. I have started the process of elimination to find which ones are keepers. 2: take advantage of all of the amazing discs/brands. I used to be a trilogy brands loyalist. This podcast has opened me up to other brands. I have a new found love for gyro and now bag an envy, uplink, hex, and wave. I have also picked up a disc mania fd which I love. Keep up the good work. I look forward to learning more with the coming episodes! P.S. I just scored my personal best of -8 at my home course! Your advice contributed to that for sure! Cheers boys!

The most useful concept for me has been to not rely too much on a unicorn disc. Find a disk that can fill that slot off the shelf, and practice with that. Then, try working with other plastics or other weights of that mold to achieve variations.

Since beginning to listen to this podcast I have taken the discs that I am most confident with (500 spectrum F3 and pa3 and px3) and gotten them in different plastics to help fill different shots knowing that confidence I have with them. I also got rid of all higher weight drivers and switched to lighter weights (air h4v2 and D2 pro both under 164) for anything over 9 speed outside of my sexton which is my get out of jail card. I love hearing the advice every week and evaluating how I can take and implement it. Thanks for all y’all do!

Love the podcast. It has taught me to be more opened minded. More of a student of the game. Has completely changed how I view and maneuver through a course. My biggest take away from this podcast is really understanding that not every disc is for everyone I had some discs in my bag that just didn’t need to be there and some that discs that y’all have recommended that would fit my game better got a uplink and it’s a great disc I has helped me become touchy and not needing to try to throw so hard. Has made me slow down and now I’m throwing farther than when I was trying to throw far. I wait every Friday to listen to this podcast has some of the best advice.

My takeaways from the podcast are namely to be meticulous about my disc choices. I watch a lot of content and ended up taking some points from a variety of channels as gospel rather than thinking about my own game and leaning into seeing if I have success from lower disc weight or that discs may not fly true to the numbers for me as main examples. The goal of 12 or fewer discs has helped me understand my discs better, identify wear, and identify gaps gradually rather than experimenting too soon with new discs and not having a clear idea how each of a previously 20+ disc bag flies. Always pumped when I see a new episode drop in my feed of this series!

A takeaway I took was to use a disc that you like to throw and know exactly what it will do when thrown in certain angles and arm speeds to adjust to other discs in your bag to know how to throw them and experiment with them to know what they do for your specific arm speed and throw angles.

I’ve taken away a lot of different things from this podcast, the first being that I need to make sure I have the discs I need without having the discs that overlap completely and create confusion. Molds like the buzzz and the thunderbird are paramount in my bag as the buzzz is my complete go to midrange and the thunderbird takes care of most of my fairway/distance shots on both forehand and backhand. This podcast has made me realize and appreciate the confidence that I have with those molds in my hand while also realizing how the saying “if it’s good, keep it in the bag” applies to those molds. On another hand, this podcast has made me experiment with different shots that I typically don’t rely on and with different stabilities of discs to help me realize the overall variety of shot shapes that I can use on the course. In every episode, hearing a new persons disc golf situation, even when different than mine, allows me to gain a new piece of knowledge without fail! Thanks so much for this podcast and keep up the good work!

I started by doing what Brad does with all of the discs in my bag. I spent a couple hours of field work throwing all of my discs on each angle a few times and since then I’ve devoted a single field work session to just practicing my anhyzers and one to just practicing forehands. I’ve learned so much about the flight of some of my discs and I feel more confident when I buy a new disc in what intend to use it for. But I also keep in mind that once I test it out on each angle I may find a different or additional uses for it!

So there’s definitely been a few of them. #1-The importance of building your bag not by simply having a disc for every type of shot, but instead starting with the shot types and seeing if a disc can cover more than one shot type to reduce the number of molds. I’m a relatively new player so I thought I needed a disc for every shot type basically and realizing that one disc might cover multiple shot shapes has definitely helped simplify my bag. #2-It’s a bit obvious, but the subconscious confidence is definitely a real thing. It’s what helped me pick my overstable mid in my bag. One of my first discs, it’s still in the bag, is a glow DX Roc. I settled on a Star RocX3 because of the confidence I had in throwing a mold so similar to my Roc. It beat out an Axiom Plasma Prism Pyro and a Streamline Cosmic Neutron Runway, which I throw mostly MVP and think plasma is the best plastic available, because of that subconscious confidence. I could list other examples as well, but Robbie you’re right, it definitely is a thing and something to remember going forward. #3-My bag is always going to be changing. As a new player that’s been one of the hardest parts with all the plastic available. Especially when money is kinda tight, you want whatever discs you buy to be good and do what you want. But it’s also good to remember that my bag will change and evolve as my game and ability do. #4-Using your catch phrase, if it’s good keep it in the bag, has helped me decide if/when I need to make changes. I now start with what discs in my bag are like the I won’t play a round without discs, and that if you will is the corner and edge pieces in the puzzle that is my bag. That makes it easier to identify what discs I could potentially change and what discs to look for as a potential replacement. #5-So this is something for me to try more of going forward. I have done very little with same mold but different plastics and it’s something I should definitely consider more of. A lot of MVP’s molds feel very similar, which definitely helps, but I’d be interested to try using the same disc in multiple plastics in the future. Feedback for the podcast-I think the way y’all do it is fantastic! I think there’s a good atmosphere, I like the conversational approach, and especially doing a recap episode like this to see if the discs are indeed helping other people’s game. I think the only negative feedback I have is on KZfaq, the graphic from mydiscbag is just a little too small so it’s difficult to read all of it. If possible I think it’d be great if it was bigger during that segment so we could see what the person’s bag is without trying to remember all of the discs as y’all go through the bag. One suggestion I have is to leave a graphic for the discs you’re going to recommend up during that segment showing the flight numbers, flight chart, and then the brand, name, and what plastics you’re recommending for each disc. If that’s too much, maybe show it once initially and then just keep the disc name and flight numbers during that segment and maybe at the end of the video or in the description leave the full info again. Just a suggestion but it’s something I’ve wished was up there during that segment. Overall I love this podcast and am grateful for how much love y’all are showing to disc golfers of all levels, and especially those that are newer or not quite as skilled! Building a bag is definitely a challenging but also really fun part of the game and I look forward to many more of these and maybe I’ll get to be on it at some point as well! Wishing the best for y’all and I am hoping to win that sweet mystery box!

From Sean, I just appreciate the power and angle control he described in his throws helps do different flights. I've started to slow down my form and just be smoother, instead of being faster and trying to force the disc do something. It has improved my form and just put in effortless distance with my understable discs and more predictability to my game on my neutral and overstable shots.

My biggest takeaway so far has been to cycle and be willing to drop a disc out of the bag until it beats into another slot. I have 3 Eagles in different weights and plastics that I have side by side with an Explorer. Since listening to the podcast I carry a stable Eagle, neutral Explorer, beat in Eagle instead of 6 fairways mixed between the Eagles and Explorers and in doing this has opened my Midrange slots to be able to add an extra range in my lower bag. I used to carry a Hornet, Warrior, Mako and have been able to add an Entropy and Envy under these to have that extra throwing options before getting to my Sensei and P2. PS: Great podcast, Keep up the great work, and trust your advice is reaching further than only those you have on the podcast with you. This podcast is definitely staying in the bag.

Biggest takeaway is subconscious confidence. By listening to the way discs were recommended and tested, I realized I didn't know my discs well. I was trying to throw everything flat with full power and let the disc do the work; worked sometimes and with some discs. I started playing lots of one disc rounds (as a fun way to do field work) to learn a disc, what lines I can put it on and what power to match.

My biggest takeaway has been simplifying my bag with comfortable, well known molds. I’ve changed my bag a TON because I love the idea of throwing the same mold but with varying flights due to different plastics and how broken in the disc is. I’ve really gotten better with what was already my go to discs because I’m throwing them more often. For example, I removed my beloved deann Carey star mako3 and added a second hex into my bag. I have a pretty beat up hex that’s 167g and flies the same as my mako which i like ever so slightly more, and added a new neutron hex that’s 178grams as gives me a more stable flight that I can rip on without any turnover risk.

This show got me to create an excel table to chart my discs and really visualize the gap's. Being new every disc I had was understable to straight flying. My arm speed is fairly fast for being a newbie and so looking for more stability has completely changed how I am approaching holes and where I find myself located during a round. Also just the simple idea of removing discs that I don't throw often is adding a new level of analysis to how I am playing. - Another Ben

My biggest takeaway so far has been to throw discs at their right speed, and not just full power everything. I have a few mids and fairways that I ruled out as too flippy, however I was probably throwing them much harder than they were meant to. I am now excited to go out to my backyard and give them another chance!

My biggest takeaway from the last 9 episodes has been taking out the discs in which I have zero subconscious and conscious (for that matter) confidence. There have been several instances where I see the shot in my head, reach for the disc that should execute the shot, put that disc back, and then grab a disc that will produce a similar shot (not the ideal shot) because I have confidence in that disc. Now, I have taken out of my bag the discs I have zero confidence in. I have seen significant mental game growth since doing this and I know my physical game will follow suit soon!

I had already done this with destroyers but in my fairways and down I took out 5 molds and also made a commitment in doing that to learn those discs and not swap in every new hyped disc. My biggest takeaway is the idea of cycling and removing different discs that duplicate the same shot shape. I typically play disc golf rounds with my daughter in a stroller and as a result I have switched to mainly using a Power Pocket XXL. With that said I have a limit of 17-20 discs. The podcast has really helped me to hone in that bag and create a more efficient and effective selection!

biggest takeaway: Let the disc do the work. People always tell me that "a real disc golfer can throw any shot with 2 discs." That may be true, but pros usually have lots of plastic. This podcast opened my eyes that you should use discs for the shots they are good at. pick the right disc and you don't have to be constantly frustrated. Most of the time it's user error, but sometimes trowing the wrong disc is like fitting a square peg into a round hole. thanks a ton keep doing what you're doing -jason

Biggest takeaway for me: try using your favorite molds for shots typically reserved for neighboring discs. Turns out my old wraith can do a beautiful turnover, and a new one can flex into the wind. 2 discs from 1 mold instead of 3 discs from 3 molds.

Loving the podcast guys! My biggest takeaway is that I need to find a field to start doing some fieldwork so that I can learn what the discs in my bag actually do instead of just hoping they do what I expect them to. The disc that I wanted to love but did not work out is the Insanity from Axiom. From the numbers, it should be an under stable fairway driver that I can throw and have it go right for most (if not all) of the flight. Instead it is mostly straight with a little turn and little fade. The problem there is that I typically use the Lift for that shot because I like the way it feels in my hand.

Biggest takeaway from the podcast has been learning that each disc has multiple uses and flight patterns depending on a combination of its weight, plastic type, golfers arm speed, angle of release, and sometimes even color. I used to be stuck in the mindset that all of my discs have one or maybe two purposes for a few different shots, but over time listening to the podcast and hearing from different guests about the discs that they're throwing for their flex shots or hyzer flip throws has opened my eyes to the many possibilities from each disc in my bag.

My biggest takeaway from this was the “same disc, different plastic” idea. I have hundreds of discs just solely because I enjoy collecting and it can get overwhelming to build the bag. This has got me back in the field tomorrow with the Instinct again, which I loved but replaced. Now that it’s available in several plastic types I might fill the bag here with more than one if the flights are different! I’m excited to try new things. Keep up the great content, I really look forward to seeing these videos in my feed. (Now if only Discmania would drop some Meta Instincts for me to try 😜)

My biggest take always from this podcast is that building your bag correctly can improve your confidence and play before even setting foot on the course. This is a great podcast because there are so many discs out there and narrowing down the right discs can be difficult for player’s whether you are a beginner or intermediate player. I think listening to this podcast also makes me think of different reasons why you should carry certain discs. For example the uplink as an upshot disc to pair with your typical overstable upshot disc like a pig or zone. Overall I enjoy listening to this podcast because I can hear different perspectives and views of disc golf I might’ve never thought of because of play style or since I’m newer and haven’t thrown as many discs as other people. Great podcast and can’t wait til the next episode!

The biggest takeaway I've personally taken from this podcast is: try throwing lighter weight discs. I went and bought a bunch of 150 gram distance drivers and it's been a real game changer for me. It's to the point where when I'm out in the course playing and talking with people I suggest THEY try some lighter discs and how much I love throwing them myself.

My biggest takeaway from In The Bag is to get rid of overlap. I had a pro thunderbird in my bag that would flip up to flat and go straight for me for about 350'. When the Era came out from. Finish Line I fell in love with it and it immediately became the disc I went to for that exact same shot. I left the thunderbird in there and would occasionally throw it on practice shots after I had already thrown my Era. It still flew nicely but it was always short of my Era and if I need to be shorter than my standard straight Era shot I can just throw a Crave instead. Taking the Thunderbird out of my bag has not just eliminated doubt when I step up to throw that shot; It has eliminated the possibility of doubt. I have no other disc that fills that slot so when I step up needing a straight 350' shot I am excited to pull the Era out of my bag and make people ask what disc I just threw. It seems like a simple concept in theory but when you're out on the course it helps to not just like your discs, but love them and be excited to throw each one. Whether I'm throwing a Pig, Chariot, Crave, Era, or Destroyer, I can guarantee that if a cardmate asks what discs I just threw that I will be happy to tell them how long I have been beating in that special pig (or whatever the disc may be). So I have never done well with multiple discs of the same mold, which I know is a big thing for you guys. The reason for me is I end up questioning myself on which one I should throw and then I end up throwing my flippy crave on the angle that might have worked for my stable crave (as an example). I tend to do better when I can walk up and just know it's a Crave shot and I only have one Crave that I know how it will fly. I still do have a couple duplicate molds though (multiple Waves for example)... So my takeaway has been knowing what each disc does and why it's in my bag and not duplicating similar speeds/stability and then really thinking about why I'm throwing that particular disc before each throw. I have also learned that it definitely helps if I have very different feeling plastics for the few molds I do carry 2 of so that I can be confident that I'm throwing the right disc.

My biggest takeaway has been to reduce the number of molds in the bag. I used to carry several different distance drivers for different shots, but I've recently expanded my Zeus lineup with my overstable ESP backhand/forehand, straighter Big Z, and then a beat in almost flippy ESP Zeus. I still do have a Hades and Wave for even flippier shots. But as the 3rd Zeus gets beat in more, maybe the Wave or Hades will come out. Something that has confused me is at times you say *not* to rely on beat in discs (like that Origin), and then other times you say to cycle through discs and use the really beat in discs for flippy shots. How do you balance that? I think it is very handy to be able to go to the store and get an Uplink or Comet and have that as your flippy disc to use when you lose one instead of just being stuck with a brand new Buzzz that isn't beat in yet? It seems like being comfortable with a range of different molds in your bag is something you should be used to to a certain extent. But I do like the concept of cycling through discs or having them in different plastics to achieve different stabilities. Just not sure how far to take it. Another takeaway that I'm not happy about is that my Zone might not stay in the bag :( I have an Entropy and Tactic that I just find myself throwing far more often. I just never pull the Zone out. It seems like blasphemy even admitting this haha!

My biggest takeaway is that I should try more discs with different flight numbers. I found when I really looked at what I was throwing I tended to lean towards discs that had a turn of -1 and a fade of 1 and I had them in almost every slot, putter, mid, fairway and distance. I liked them because I could put most of them on about any angle and they were going to hold that angle almost indefinitely and then when thrown flat they had kind of a slight s curve but were mostly point and shoot straight flyers. I'm now carrying those same discs but I have more overstable and understable options so I can have many more shot shapes when necessary. Also I'm a gyro nerd and I have a name for this "condition" finally lol. Can't wait for more episodes!

What have I learned from listening to this podcast? My mental game is not as strong as I had perceived. When I began listening to “In The Bag,” I thought, “pshh, I already know all of this.” As a novice disc golfer who believed himself in to be AT LEAST intermediate, I thought, like many, that distance wins championships. Distance certainly proved helpful at the wide open course where I learned to play the sport. However, upon moving to a new area where every course was wooded, I struggled. I blamed my discs. I refused to practice. SURELY, the fault wasn’t my own. But as I continued to listen to this podcast, I began to realize that, as Brad mentioned in this episode, it truly is the archer and not the arrow. Having the right disc is certainly a crucial part of every throw. However, it’s impossible to have the right disc when you don’t know what your discs do. And so I began to pick apart my bag disc by disc. I learned that many of my discs flew practically the same, no matter how I threw them. I found that, with my old bag, I was leaving every round feeling exhausted after throwing 100% on every single throw, just to get a flight that sometimes worked. I learned that my pride got in the way of throwing lightweight and understable plastic. I learned that different plastics fly differently, and that I prefer “champion style plastics” over their “star” counterparts. But most importantly, I learned that my game and my attitude needs to change. Today, my bag looks radically different. Though the core remains the same, my bag is now peppered with fission plastics like the photon, understable discs like that the uplink, and discs that I can rely on and be confident with when I step up to the tee. I’ve also learned what it means to have fun playing disc golf again. Along this journey, I had my first ace (with a Pure that never would’ve been in the bag had I not adopted more understable plastic), and I learned that I don’t always need to throw my arm off to succeed. So, thank you. Thank you Robbie and Brad. Thank you to all the guests brave enough to be vulnerable. Thank you Foundation Disc Golf for refueling my addiction to this sport we love. And thank you all for the encouragement as I take this first step forward toward a better, more confident, and more fun game.

Biggest takeaway for me as someone still very much trying to improve from being a beginner still is the consolidation of molds. When I watched the first episode I had probably 16-20 discs in my bag with multiple overlapping spots as well as it being 16-20 different molds. Since then I have narrowed them down a good bit, and have become much more confident in my disc choices for the couple local courses I have. As I continue to get better form and the discs wear in, I am very hopeful that I will have the confidence to even join the pdga or play in some local events(outside of leagues that is). Thanks for what you do guys!!

My biggest takeaway from the show is definitely to not rely on perfectly beat-in discs entirely. I mostly built my bag while in college, and bought a lot of used discs to save money, so a lot of my plastic was already partially beat in. I've listened since day one. It's become appointment listening for me every Friday on the drive home in ATL traffic. There has been so many good lessons, but the biggest takeaway is to be super intentional about your bag. Y'all have inspired me to do weekly field work and try to not only hit landing zones, but to find discs that get to those zones on all the necessary flight paths. My home course (East Roswell Park) is a tight, technical, wooded course that rarely challenges distance, but it takes a variety of lines to be successful, so it's been good to seek those discs that I can throw on every line, even toward the same landing zones. I've started practicing distance lines as well so I shoot better when I visit other courses on the weekends. I'm in love with this podcast! Maybe it's just the stage I'm in in my disc golf journey, but the content is always worth the listen and has inspired me to completely re-think my bag. I've started back at the beginning and tested 15 different putters, now I've moved on to mid-range and tested 7 so far. It's been a revelation. I'm going to keep testing and intentionally deciding what works AND feels the best so I can get better. So far I've taken multiple different techniques from the podcast (like multiple plastics in the same mold, beat in versions, and off the shelf discs that feel similar, but function for the shot day one instead of being a unicorn). You guys are great! Mystery box or not I want you to know you're making a difference in my game, and that makes a difference in my life. Disc golf has been a godsend for my health (mental and physical) and you make that better for me. Keep it up and I'll keep listening on my way home from work every Friday.

I think that idea of cycling a favorite mold, and learning that touch is as important as power. Also, I could not quite understand why there was a problem with throwing a flex shot with a Raptor, but not with the G-Star Valkyrie. I have found that the more overstable the disc the easier it is to flex. Keep it up, I too agree that Chantelle is a really good player.

Vandal was a disc I thought I would love. I wanted something more understable than an Escape. The issue was everytime I threw it the disc would go straight up in the air. I've never had any issue like this before, in fact I typically throw pretty low(10ft) off the ground. I just could never get the disc to do anything but a sky hyzer nose up stall shot, lol. I now have a hybrid Fury in this spot and it is soooo good. Throw it on a fairly steep hyzer it flips up completely maybe drifts a while then finishes. It's a great reliably understable fairway

I have been listening to this show for a about a week now. I instantly downloaded all the episodes I could. I found the one where the uplink was referred as super beneficial and helpful I found my bag to be similar and as someone who has a weak backhand shot I was really looking for something both midrange and something that would make it clear when I was messing up something on my backhand. The UPLINK HAS BEEN EXACTLY THAT for about three rounds now. My home course is a super tight wooded course in Northern California and this uplink sits up straight rides for what feels like miles and always looks pretty. I played a full 9 with only the uplink to make sure I am getting better and understanding how it works. I doubt I’ll throw many flick shots with it as it turns over pretty hard rather quickly and tries to turn into a roller 😂😂😂 however if I flick it almost completely upside down. It sits up flat that way too. So I know I am doing something right. I’ve enjoyed listening to this podcast first and even getting into griplock after I ran out of episodes over here. I really appreciate the work you gentlemen are putting in! I hope to have my bag reviewed and see how you can help my game more! Biggest takeaway: I have a hard time with throwing flippy discs. They either just flip right over or they are very stable for me. I have learned I need to take my old disc that flips over to a field and throw them only 60% or so instead of 90 to 100% like I always do. And then throw them on different angles to see what they do for me.

This show has definitely made me re-evaluate just what I want to get out of a certain disc and how finding the right shot may be a different disc, but it could also be the same disc just in a different plastic. It's made me go out and do fieldwork just throwing all my disc on every angle to try and find out which shots I have covered, maybe too covered with multiple discs, and which shots I feel like I'm lacking. Now I can go through and really pair down my bag so that I know exactly what disc is the right disc for a shot and not second guess myself. But it's always a fight against the want to buy more discs haha.

This podcast has actually helped me out a lot on the mental game. It’s great to see and hear from other players from across all different play areas and levels. Even more interesting to hear what discs people lean on the most (their cryptic disc). I was actually interested in trying to apply for the podcast, since I haven’t heard much of unorthodox play styles (for me is thumbers mainly). I’m glad to hear “golf distance” vs “max distance” which is a term I used a lot prior 👍🏻 glad to hear people use it other then me. But this podcast has made me rethink my bag slightly. I hate throwing mids… with a passion… and everyone here on island knows that lol…. But I threw my beloved 750 M4’s in the bag again… and you know what…. I’m enjoying it a-lot more then I thought 👍🏻 and if i screw up… I can only blame myself 🙌🏻 I even started putting more putters in the mix off the tee. PA-3’s, PMS’s, PX-3’s… even for putter and mid thumbers 🔥 Just getting more comfortable with discs I would never have thrown has gotten me more comfortable throwing backhand confidently 💪🏻 Or lines I would usually take a 9 speed spike Hyzer to 300ft, I throw a stable putter on the same line 🤷🏻‍♂️ who knew lol… Thanks again for all the great work! Keep it up! Hope to meet you guys some day! Aloha! 🤙🏻

I’m definitely not great with words. But my favorite one forsure is if it’s not good take it out of the bag or if it’s good keep it in the bag. I was one that had to many discs my bag was Stuffed full say it fits 25 I had 27 in there. I’ve down sized and if it wasn’t good I took it out. I’ve tried a lot more different types of discs and am not all one brand now. I’ve stepped down with speeds and what a difference just bc im a 6’2 and 225lbs I don’t have the speed for some of those drivers lol. Fairway drives are my new favorite discs. I can go on but I feel im ranting. I have taken so much from your podcast it’s changed my whole game and I thank you guys so much!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼

Biggest takeaway is kinda something I’ve been doing but just feels good to hear someone else say which is keep working on what ur good at while developing new skills. I had a TERRIBLE forehand when I first started but my strengths were anhyzers (because my forehand was non-existent) and up shots. I would still say those are my strengths but over the 3 yrs I’ve been playing my forehand has developed nicely. Also, I forehand overstable discs, Streamline Flare…RIP (recently lost it) and was nervous to try discs less stable to but I recently got an Axiom Wrath that Is still stable but not as much so. Thanks for this podcast, I listen every week and I’m building subconscious confidence in my game through y’all. Side note: totally a fan of Hunter going Gyro as a player who has an all Gyro bag lol
