Greetings from Finland. One important note from finnish culture. If we say that we like something or enjoy something we really mean it that way. It's not just polite talk, we really mean it. So i think Lauri really likes Utah (good coaching, Utah climate has similarities to Finland, nice size city, etc.) . Ofc he won't take bad deal but if the offered deal is good, he will definately stay and make best of it.

I follow Formula One and I can see how Finns are that way over the years. What always makes me wonder is, what is the possibilities Lauri actually have told the team he wants to go play somewhere else where he could play for championships. Finn or not, I think that's what all athletes want along with getting paid isn't it? What if that actually happened and then Danny Ainge explained to him how it is best he keep things behind the scene and let him work his magic. Which was the reason why all the sudden they are happy to 'listen' to trade offers........just another fantasy of mine.

Lauri has told the FO that he wants to compete but he trust the progress. That's a interesting point why The trade hype is on. Many teams WHO are competing are very desperate to Make their teams stronger. I guess Danny is doing his Job listening to offers.

I wouldnt trade Lauri just to trade. But if im gonna get Keegan plus picks or Podz plus picks i would do it without second thought. 2025 draft is really good and its stupid to be a mediocre team one more year and get 6-10 draft pick while u can get top 5.

Lauri doesn't really care about money. Even when signing the last contract, he said he wanted to have the contract, not because he needs that much money, but because in the NBA size of your contract tells your status in the league. Now he is one of the most (if not the most) underpaid guys in the association but when he signed the contract many were sceptical of anyone offering him what he was looking, expecially that late in the summer 😃

Like you said, the Jazz are listening to trades just in case they have something that blows their socks off, but likely dont *intend* on trading him. If the pacers offer Bennedict Mathurin, Jarace Walker, Nesmith, and picks theyll take it, but its unlikely many teams will offer something like that even for Lauri since there is no guarantee hell resign.

@proforeveryone Let's not be naive. If some team trades a haul for Lauri, they have got a wink wink deal from his camp that he will resign. NBA teams are not THAT stupid 😄

@@magicofshootingstar5825 That is IF they make the deal yes, but no deal has been made. Lauri seems like he would like to stay in Utah, so its possible that hauls have been tentatively offered but no resign promise made , causing those deal to remain purely hypothetical. The Jazz wont accept less, and other teams wont give more if they cant get a good idea hell resign. At an impasse.

Let’s says Jazz is willing to trade him now, how could Warrior secure him with regards to the Lauri’s contract condition? Something I am not sure how things could work. Does it mean GSW will go for a trade where they will have Lauri for 1 year and then they negotiate the contract next off-season? Or Warrior to agree on a contract with Lauri and get trade immediately. and then formally sign his extension on Aug 6th? What is the risk of him not signing? From what I have been reading, if Jazz is to re-sign him on Aug 6, they cannot be be trade until Feb 6, 2025 to be exact. And that day happens to be the final date (meaning THE ONLY DAY) that anyone can trade him. Otherwise it is next off-season.

I feel like as long as they clearly communicate with the plan was with him, even if they don’t share it with us as the general public, he should be fine with it. The only time it gets dicey is, if you tell the player one thing, and then do the complete opposite and blindside them. Because then you start catching the Daryl Morey accusations

After deadline last season he seemed quite swithed off and detached. Not sure he's gonna find that competitive mindset at Jazz, knowing that the objective is to tank.

Lauri want to built with the Jazz. I think he is ready to wait and compete with Jazz after this starting season. Before he went to Finland on holiday he told to finnish media that he would like to extend his contract.

He need to extend that anyway before other teams are willing to trade him. If you get player with 1 year left, you dont offer much because he can leave after that one year.

Doubt he’ll get traded this offseason…maybe during the season before the trade deadline when more teams are desperate…not enough teams are desperate enough or have the picks…plus Ainge is asking price is basically sayin he doesnt want to trade him

@Jayydubss It's always more difficult to get a big deal done during the season than during offseason because of cap space rules. Also if they sign Lauri to the extension in the first day he is eligible to renegotiate and extend, there will be exactly one day during the season, the trade deadline day, they can trade him if they want. If they take longer to extend him, they cannot trade him at trade deadline 😃

Actually Lauri's value will go down. Now is the highest his value will be. The assets wont be there later in the season. Teams will be getting the players they need now. Lauri has been good for Utah because the team isnt very good. Lauri is somewhat over rated atm.

At first, I was all in for Trading Lauri. That has changed. Let's keep him and put the young guys around him. So, WK @5, Flip @4, Lauri @3, Cody @2, Collier @1. 7'1, 7,0, 7 0. 6'8, 6,2.

Ainge and you can definitely kick rocks with that unreasonable trade. No one needs Lauri that much. Again Lauri is not KD. Nowhere close. He hasn’t even played a playoff game. I won't know these "weaker" drafts have given better players, then people give credit for like 2014 was considered weak but had a 4x dpoy and a two time MVP though the draft is always a game of chance

One of the reasons its considered a "weak" draft is because it doesnt have a solidified top 3-5, so there is less advantage to having a high pick. There are likely the same number of all stars in this draft, but theyre going to be more "hidden gems" than clear cut from the moment they get drafted.

True Finnish people do not mess around. Their word means something........Jazz no matter what the assets they get for Markannen, it will not match a known star in Markannen. Another words, it would be impossible to find a player as good as Laurie, then it takes five years to develop them so they get as good as he is. The problem is that Ryan Smith is the worst owner in the NBA and focuses on "Smith's Folly", a hockey team that no one wants, more than the Jazz. Smith does not have a clue on on to create a successful pro-basketball team. He is not willing to spend money to surround Lauri with another star. The issue is clear the fans need to fire Smith or the NBA should come in and investigate that cheap basterd.
