(edited) ok y'all I finished the *transcript* WILL: Just for clarity’s sake, uh, there’s a lot of dialogue in this passage- WILL: So when I’m reading Evan’s dialogue, i’m gonna stand here [Audience laughs] [All spoken by Will, but as Evan or Jared will be specified] WILL: And when I read Jared’s dialogue I’m gonna stand here. [Audience laughs again] WILL: There’s also a lot of stuff that is written WILL: And you’re gonna have to figure that out. WILL [reading]: Jared’s SUV swerves into the lot of Workout Heaven and slams into a parking spot. He walks past me through the revolving door of the gym. I follow him inside. Why are we here? [Will pauses] Oh, sorry. [Turns to the right] EVAN: Why are we here? Jared flashes a membership card to the muscle bro at the front desk and identifies me as his guest. EVAN: Do you work out here? JARED: No, but my parents think I do Jared says. JARED: Trust me, this is a great spot to do homework. JARED: Have you ever watched a woman run on a treadmill? EVAN: That’s n-not, uh, I don’t feel- JARED: Look, for this kind of job, I can’t be on my own network. JARED: Think of it as an extra precaution! JARED: Being on open Wi-Fi will make it harder for anyone to trace this back to us! He really does make what we’re doing sound unseemly. EVAN: Maybe we shouldn’t be doing this. EVAN: There’s gotta be another way. EVAN: If the Murphys ask me about the emails, I won’t respond! EVAN: It’s not like they’re gonna hunt me down, right? JARED: If you back out now, you still owe me the twenty dollars. Jared says, sitting down on the back bench. [??] I picture Zoe’s face. The look she had at lunch. Her parents probably have the same look right now. Heavy, and defeated. EVAN: Let’s just write one email and see what happens I say Jared opens a blank file on his laptop and begins typing. [Clears throat] JARED, as CONNOR: [With his voice comically deep] Yo, Evan, sorry it’s been a minute. JARED, as CONNOR: I’ve been all crazy and shit, ya feel me? [Audience laughs and claps] EVAN: Why are you making him talk like that? JARED: [Sarcastically] Like what? Jared says. EVAN: Y’know, like - that! EVAN: Just, make him talk normally! Jared erases everything and starts again. JARED, as CONNOR: [Overdramatic posh accent] Dearest Mister Hansen, JARED, as CONNOR: I am terribly sorry for the fact that I have failed to maintain contact. JARED, as CONNOR: Life has been most challenging of late. EVAN: Wait, now he sounds like a prince or something! EVAN: Just have him speak like you and I do! EVAN: And it has to match my letter exactly. Make it say “Dear Evan Hansen.” JARED: [Dryly] Why would you guys refer to each other by your full names? [Audience laughs] EVAN: I don’t know, just [??] try to do that, okay?! JARED: Suit yourself! JARED, as CONNOR: Dear Evan Hansen, JARED, as CONNOR: Sorry I’ve been out of touch. Things have been crazy! EVAN: That’s perfect! I say. JARED, as CONNOR: I want you to know that this whole time you’ve been on my mind. JARED, as CONNOR: [Deadpan] I rub my nipples every night [??] as I dream of your sweet, sweet face. [Audience cheers and claps] EVAN: Why would you write that?! I ask. JARED: I’m just trying to tell the truth! EVAN: Y’know, if you’re not going to take this seriously, then forget it. EVAN: These emails have to prove that we were actually friends. EVAN: They’ve got to be completely realistic!JARED: There is nothing UNrealistic about the love that one man feels for another! [Audience screams and claps] GIRL IN THE AUDIENCE: Yes!!! EVAN: Write down exactly what I say. EVAN [dictating]: Life without you has been hard. Jared laughs under his breath. JARED: Hard? EVAN: Fine, change it to rough! JARED: Kinky! [Audience laughs and claps] EVAN: Here. Let me try. EVAN, as CONNOR: Life without you has been difficult. EVAN, as CONNOR: I really miss talking to you about life and other stuff. JARED: [Sarcastically] Very specific! EVAN: Shut up!!EVAN, as CONNOR: I like my parents. JARED: Who says that? Jared asks. EVAN, as CONNOR: I love my parents, but I hate how much we fight. EVAN, as CONNOR: I should really stop smoking drugs. JARED: Smoking. Drugs. Jared asks. Jared shakes his head at me in disappointment. EVAN: Just fix it. This isn’t realistic-! [Will spins around] JARED: This isn’t realistic at all! EVAN: And how do you know; you barely knew Connor! He gives me another look. EVAN: The objective here is to show that I was a good friend. That I was trying to help him. JARED: [In that faux-irritated but low-key kind of admiring way that one does] Oh, my God. He grabs the laptop back. JARED, as CONNOR: I should really take your advice and stop smoking crack. EVAN [aghast]: CRACK?! I say. EVAN: That’s a little extreme, no? EVAN: Do people at our school actually smoke crack? JARED, as CONNOR: [Sort of resigned] I should really take your advice and stop smoking pot. JARED, as CONNOR: Then, everything might be okay! JARED, as CONNOR: And I’ll try to be nicer! Wish me luck. EVAN: That’s not bad, actually!I say. EVAN: Now sign it at the bottom, “Sincerely, me.” JARED: Not even gonna ask. Jared says. [Applause]

Okay but I never knew I needed Will Roland doing a spoken rendition of Sincerely Me while playing all 3 roles of Jared, Evan, and Connor ????

reading the book was great, but hearing will roland read just a part of the book is amazing

as a person who actually has the book, this was a lot more enjoyable having him basically read this to me

I read the book and he sounds wayyyy better reading it aloud then I do.

I really wish that the audiobook featured more actors. Ben Ross and Mike Faist did excellent, and Mallory's vocals were beautiful, but I wish we could've heard Mallory speak as Zoe, or hear Will actually read Jared's parts, or also hear Mike reading as Connor in chapter's with Evan's POV. It would've made the audiobook far more immersive to me.

I love that he delivers some of his lines exactly how he delivers them in the show.

I wish they'd kept more of the rhyming from the lyrics and more of the dialogue from the text. Maybe it would have sounded a little weird, but it wouldn't be /that/ bad. I mean, if you're a fan of the musical you were really singing the song instead of what was actually written (I joke)

Its the fact that im going to NY on my birthday this year for my birthday THIS year. Guess what closed on my birthday last year? Yeah DEH. I wasnt a full blown theater kid last year around that time.
