I admit it. I admit it. I tried to play Will Smith like a bitch. I figured since the entire black community made Will Smith their punching bag I could get a jab in too. I know what you're thinking. *You didn't even say anything about Will !* What is Jada's last name? A shot at her is a shot at him from a married mans stand point. I could have done a entanglement joke. The entanglement jokes aren't ever aimed at Jada. The entanglement jokes aren't Jada is a hoe jokes. They're Will is a bitch jokes. I agree that it could've been handled differently, but Chris was wrong for the joke. He knows that hair is a sore spot in the African American community. He made a movie about it, so why??? Maybe he was trying to soften her feelings about the hair loss. However, he made a joke about her relevance when they were boycotting the Oscars. Jada's protest did invoke a positive change. The Academy is more inclusive, now. I pray for Chris and Will. It was sad, personal and raw.

Many folks were backing Will and saying he did right to honor his wife. I disagree when perhaps a door was opened by the wife to begin with. Anyway a teaching moment for my teen son that we can not physically attack or assault someone because of words, what was said that you don't like. People are dead and gone because of offense and their feelings being hurt or either they're in jail. I pray for healing and humility. Pride always comes before the fall. Sometimes we just need to leave both the devil and God out of the mess that we get ourselves into. The devil didn't come for Jada or Will with that joke and God didn't want Will to react as he did. The evil here was pride and not being humble enough to ask forgiveness.

So now Will Smith is asking everyone to give him grace and to understand his point, but he never extended that grace to Chris Rock. He never gave him (Chris Rock) the opportunity to apologize and make the correction. There was no grace for Chris Rock and everyone is all for Will Smith and none for Chris Rock. That's crazy to me, you can't expect grace without giving grace.

After Trump decency and civility have left most of American discourse. Even in what is supposed to be a classy environment as you stated, there was no decorum. He apologized to the "academy" when he took the stage but not to Chris he needs to be locked up. Did he and his family including his disrespectful son Jaden consider how his conduct dishonored Mr. Williams and Venus and Serena who were present? When Mr Williams should have been lauded and celebrated for all he has accomplished he (Will Smith) prevented it from happening. Such a shame. Chris Rock needs to let the cops pick him up in handcuffs so that others may be deterred from such actions in the future and then let him apologize in $ and cents with a 40 million law suit. If this is allowed to be settled in private with no public consequences, somebody will try it again in the future.

You are 100% right. The other point I feel that everyone is missing is that this is inciting violence and open season on comedians for doing their job. Big and small just because someone got in their feelings about a joke, that doesn't even have to be directly aimed at them. I'm sure a lot of comedians are very uncomfortable right now. Because they're being shown that you can be violently attacked for doing their passion when it's not even a disrespectful joke.

Chris actually said later that he did not know that she had alopecia. I believe him. While filming his documentary, Good Hair, Chris actually interviewed a woman which had alopecia. She told him how she had to learn to embrace herself. So, therefore, he surely understood that that was no laughing matter.

Rickey I agree. We have struggled as Black people to receive acceptance and acknowledgement of our talents by the Academy. This is a huge detrimental to our race and those who have worked so hard to get us to this point in history. I watched the Oscar's this year specifically to cheer on Will. What he did in front of the world was atrocious. I don't care for Jada but I am tired of the conversations around our hair. We get that enough from Whites but for us to do it to each other is repulsive. Will lacks emotional intelligence. He and his family need intensive therapy there are so many issues here, but they should not have played out at the Oscar's. Chris really should get an award for how he handled himself because so many others would have whooped Will's ass on that same stage and suffered the consequences later. I'm disgusted by the whole thing. This has really set us back in how we as Blacks are viewed by others. Those with platforms and voices really have a responsibility greater than their own. I really appreciate your comments Rickey.

@elainegreen39 / You missed the whole ideology. I would have handled it differently. Number one, Chris Rock has always been the type of Comedian who roast people on the front row That's his job, so you mean to tell me you now get punched on the National Television for doing your work. The joke was not that to the point for Will to punch Chris. Did he go after August for the relationship with Jada. August said things that should have stayed out of public ear, but Will didn't slap or hit him. Lastly, Will thought the joke was funny until he saw Jada's facial expression. Will pulled a Sucker, move knowing the Chris hands were tied being a Presenter on the Oscars. Had Chris responded, it would have ruined the Oscars for sure. Especially considering how many Black Oscar Winners were receiving award. Lastly, Will Smith showed himself weak with an apology to everyone except Chris when accepting his Award.

On a podcast, Chris Rock stated that he allowed people to get away with things because he was afraid of his own anger. As a child, he was bullied relentlessly.. One day he retaliated. I learned a long time ago, that it is not about what a person does to you (when they are in the wrong) It is about what your reaction is to what they did. From the time Will Smith got up out of his chair and walked 25-50 yrds. to Chris Rock, he had enough time to change his mind about whether to slap Chris or not! ( Hindsight tells me, Will could have walked up and shook his hand whispered something in his ear where noone could hear, and walked back to his seat.) But Noooooo, he did not control his flesh, (ego) sustain himself or even put God first! (Matt.6:33) now he has to pay the consequences. What makes it so hard to even understand is he did it intentionalLY in front of so my witnesses! I really thought he was smarter or even wiser than that!!! I will keep praying for PEACE. LORD knows we def need it RIGHT NOW!!! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!!! Thank you GOD for WISDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He that Lacks wisdom let him ask. JAMEs 1:5 PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7 PSALM 107:20 PSALM 91 🙏✌💖

Hell, I've done things as a teenager that Im still paying the price for now, as a 40 year old man and not a day goes by that I don't think about how I'd do it differently if I could go back. Think about what we take away from all this. When that big moment arrives in your life, make sure, in your heart, body and mind, that you're as ready as can be. Don't be caught lacking in great moment.

There's got to to be something deeper than GI Jane joke. I understand Jada's unfortunate condition but with it she's still a 10. Will Smith going thru something deeper than just a GI Jane joke

When it comes to females self Image it can hit harder than it does males, Will Smith knows her feelings about that so he defended her, he knows she already feeling down, so he wanted to protect her feelings, when it hits her it hits him, that’s the kind of love he has for her.

The brother is just tired of being disrespected. All brought on by his wife. Will found it be funny then Jada gave him that look. He just took out all his frustrations on Chris. He was wrong but he’s tired and snapped. IMO. My heart goes out to Chris as well as Will.

This is why you're single. How are the actions of married man a reflection or an embarrassment on you? How? Your not a wife, you're not an actress, you aren't his wife. You honestly must have a warped sense of entitlement to believe that Will Smith's action have some bearing on your life. It's asinine for you to associate yourself with actions of celebrity, then feel embarrassed by their actions. In your mind, you're thinking this why I'm not married, no it's your ego and thought process.

@@StaplesPropertyAcquisitionsHow do you know that’s why she is single? She knows that there is a sound way to handle any situation. Anyway, Will didn’t defend his wife, he defended his ego. Jada is a harlot who got Will so p***y whipped...he is emotionally all over the place. It had nothing to do with the hair joke, but more with the unshakable thoughts of a younger man with more penis girth and stamina than him (he admitted in so many words on the red table episode).

The one thing I can say.is that if William really thought he was defending the honor of his wife there was no need to apologize. Like who apologizes for standing up for thier wife's honor. I know for sure I wouldn't. Chris is a bigger man than me because from that point on I would have went in on the both of them. And made it my life's mission to go in on them from here on out

I'm glad somebody said something because no matter how you try to justify it, Will Smith was wrong!! Especially for someone whose always making inspirational videos.. giving out positive advice and shit. 🤦🏾‍♀️ I know I love Chris Rock even more for how classy he handled that situation because the assault wasn't even necessary over that corny ass joke. Then he gonna cry and apologize to everyone except the man he violated!
