The states should independently of the federal government determine what land is kept unconstitutionally by the federal government. The constituality should be determined strictly on the basis of use by the feds according to the Article One, section 8.

Those lands do not "Belong to the Federal Government" that is the problem with these people they think the own the land. The Land is own by the people to be used as they see fit. No Government has any right to hold land except for that needed for actual government related activities military, legislative building, judicial buildings, executive branch buildings etc.

Energy companies that have been awarded leases on Federal Land have not inspected, drilled, tested for potential for over half the lands awarded in leases. In other words there is at least half of leased lands that have not even been tested for their potential by the Lessees, who lobby for more access to Federal Land. When Energy Companies process and test land already awarded as leased land and present results as to good, poor, or indifferent they can talk about additional leases, not until then. Lessees stockpiling cheap leases on Federal Land does not add to the Country's total energy resources but does tie up reserves for Energy Corporations stockpiling cheap resouces for future use (and accounting them on balance sheets) and calling foul over their plunder of those very cheap PUBLIC resources. Companies retaining cheap leases undeveloped should not get the right to cry foul or bid on additional leases. The Senator from Dakota needs to ask the energy companies owning leases in Both Dakotas why they fail to develop those leases and what were the relative cheap costs to those public lands as it contributed to their bottom line and increased profit. Furthermore how many of those companies contibuted to PACs supporting this Senator or made contributions to his campaigns.
