I was going to request this yesterday and then found out William Hurt passed away. Seeing this is bitter-sweet. He was my all time favorite actor. Powerful, Intelligent, One of a kind. He was also a pilot. He was a good person with an empathetic heart. I’m feeling this loss. Shine on forever Mr Hurt. 🙏🕯💜✨

I just found out William Hurt died from reading the comments below, I had just randomly clicked on this. Awww, I'm heartbroken. I immediately have to watch "The Big Chill" or "Broadcast News" or something, I'm feeling him right now. Man, they're dropping like flies. There's a guy that will always be young to me, gone too soon. What a bummer. What a great, soulful actor. Seeing him in this interview......that's how I always think of him, always will. Bravo, William Hurt. Thanks for the gallery of characters, in all those great movies.

A nice man. I met Bill Hurt during filming of Broadcast news. He was a sincere, thoughtful person… also vivacious. I enjoyed hanging out with him and our talks. Too soon goodbye.

Dave was right, it seemed like he could be in any movie and just do well with the role(s). No matter the overall success of the film, you could tell his love of his craft would bring him both personal satisfaction and success. RIP William Hurt!!!

He had that amazing run in the 80s. Did a bunch of underrated and under seen films in the 90s. But luckily in the 2000s with the MCU and History of Violence found a new generation of fans. Seriously one of the greatest actors of his generation. RIP

I knew of him, but the first time I really ever remember seeing him was in History of Violence, which was amazing. He was brilliant in Broadcast News too.

I honestly believe that he truly never got the credit that he deserved. I acted both on stage and screen but never was seen in the same prestige of others such as John Malvovicz, Liam Neeson or Al Pacino. Maybe this is because as he once said he wasn't interested in playing the Hollywood game. RIP you will be missed.

That is commonly known. But I'm not talking about that. I'm talking that there are actors sports people presenters and so on who are just as good as the others but who never get the credit that the others do.

I read that he was offered the role of Alan Grant in Jurassic Park but turned it down. I could definitely see him play that role.

First, I'm sorry to learn of William Hurt's passing yesterday, which is the reason this video was posted (as with Sally Kellerman two weeks ago). Second, his Concorde story wasn't unique, tragically exemplified by the Air France Flight 4590 disaster, which came ten years, three months, and three weeks after William's Late Night appearance. That plane was bound for JFK (William's point of departure) from Paris. Third, you don't have to be a Letterman fan to appreciate Marv Albert's greatness.

Back in the day when a "nerdy-waspy" white guy could break into Hollywood and become a notable actor. RIP Mr. Hurt. Most notable later performance was in "Too Big to Fail". Plays a nerdy-waspy white guy...Hank Paulson.

I have a hearing problem..for me, 'Children of a lesser God' is the most sensitive film i have ever seen, William Hurt was playing exceptionally and he merited to win Oscar too that year...I am very impressed bcs he passed away recently, he will stay forever in my heart and soul.Rest in Peace..
