Catherine has not worked non-stop for years. That is untrue. The Wales family takes a minimum of three months holiday per year. Catherine's workload, by comparison with people like the King and Princess Anne, has been quite light. That is in no way to denigrate Catherine's contribution. She is immensely popular, professional, and an absolute credit to the RF. I fear for her being subjected to the same fanatical support as Diana, though, because that is unhealthy. Catherine is not a saint, a deity, or perfect. She is a clever, kind, good woman, who does her utmost for her family and her Country. For that she deserves respect and loyalty. She has earned it. But, we don't need to overstate the position.

@@francescarose1453 The problem with fanatical over the top support is that Catherine will need solid true and loyal support, over a hopefully long lifetime, as Princess of Wales, and then as Queen. She doesn't need to be idolised or idealised. She needs loyalty and respect from sensible citizens, who support their system of Government, and will be there for her through the decades to come.

As a woman who has had several abdominal surgeries during my life. It actually does take a few MONTHS to get back on your feet. Princess Catherine has a very busy schedule. Having surgery totally knocks you on your keister. So, taking the time off to get back on your feet isn't unusual. I dont have any insight on Princess Catherines surgical procedure, but having had stomach operations, you move cut open core muscles. Then get back to me on how long it takes to wear 5 inch heels and be in public! Go ahead. Tell me how quickly you would be back on the public stage.

Catherine should appear if and when she's fit and well enough to do so, whether it takes a month or a year. She does not need four months off to raise her children. They are all of school going age, and the family already enjoys more than ample holidays and time off together. It was foolish that Easter was suggested as a possible time at which Catherine might reappear. Recovery from surgery is never predictable. Let us hope she feels under no pressure to force her recovery. That would serve no one.

The other two no longer have small children to raise and still have a full time job with overtime many times in a month! However they are much older so they do what they do. The Princess Royal seems to have good healthy habits and I haven't read that she has cancelled or postponed an event due to feeling unwell!

William has already shown his strength. After the Oprah interview with Meghan and Harry by Oprah and their comments about racism, which Garry later denied, Someone in the press yelled out to William, “Is the Royal family a racist family??” William grit his teeth and said “We are very much NOT a racist family!!” He is the strong one with Harry and Meghan. As far as William has a say, they will never be part of the Royal family. I shouldn’t put words in William’s mouth. He can do that much better than I can.

Prince William is shouldering a lot right now. One can see the strain on his face. Imagine having to pick up twice as much work after learning your father has cancer and your wife has a long road to recovery ahead of her. THIS is a time when I've become very angry with Prince Harry of Monteshitshow. If he had never met and married The MEG, can you imagine what a wonderful support Harry could've been to William right now. I'm in the USA, but I'm very impressed with Prince William, and Anne, The Princess Royal, who is never mentioned enough. They've been incredibly strong and resilient and are essentially carrying the Monarchy at this time.

A huge chance to boost the rf reputation and to be an example of how family is supposed to support one another! What a terrible waste, Henry. The amount of pressure Prince William is under at this time is palpable. The way he's handled everything gives us insight into the sort of monarch he will be one day. And I, for one, think he is going to be a fabulous king. 😊

I completely agree, plus The Prince of Wales is probably trying to keep things as normal as possible for his three children. I don't think fictional harkle children are much of a responsibility as they get left behind every time their "parents" go on vacation. As someone who has had both an appendix removal and two kidney stone operations, I can tell you they both took MONTHS to recover from , and I STILL feel twinges of pain, many years later. Give the girl a break! She needs to rest and recover fully.

It’s really good that people are telling how long it can take to recover. Every case will be different and hard on PC that a date has been fixed regardless of how she might actually be feeling.

I never realized how very blessed I was until I read some of these posts. I had an emergency appendectomy. and was back to work in the operating room one week later feeling great.

@@sheilasamuels1066 Yeah, depending on which muscles they cut through it can be brutal. A lot of things are laparoscopic (spel? small incisions and surgery done with scope) which is easier. Yours was probably that. When I had ovarian cysts removed they were too big for the easy way and the partial C-section cuts took three months to fully heal. Over a month before I could get out of a chair without using my arms.

I think the return date was " until at least Easter". That's the earliest possible date; it could be longer if she's still recovering. Physical therapy progress will probably determine when she returns to public duties.

After surgery 3 weeks ago, I'll be having Physical Therapy for the next 12 weeks. My husband is chauffeuring me, since I am forbidden to drive. We go to four different thrift stores every week. I love thrifting!

Hubby was laid low with surgery and just wanted to be driven around for fresh air and to get out of the house. When the body is ill, it affects all kinds of things, emotionally and mentally. The Middleton’s, I’m sure are such a blessing with a place the kids can go and romp and play, privately but away from media and their intrusive speculating.

After my surgery I had to stay at my mother’s house for two months while she took care of my daughter. My husband was overseas at the time. I was in the hospital for 11 days.

Every clip I watch of Prince of Wales conversing with citizens, even children in their environment, I enjoy how he takes the time to really talk with them, give them more than a handshake or pat on the shoulder. Quite endearing….

I laughed out loud at the photo of the Queen lounging in her swimsuit thinking she looked a little bit like a new resident at the Villages in Florida! Prince William (and Catherine) are SO respectful and kind to their elders. It is so heartwarming to see their interactions.

I pray the Princess of Wales is fully recovered and does break the Internet when she returns at Easter. ❤❤ I've had several abdominal surgeries and it takes forever to get over the swelling/bloating and I couldn't even imagine putting on 4' 👠! God bless The Prince and Princess of Wales and their beautiful children. I cant wait to see them hopefully at Easter Sunday service walk to church.

My mother who died at 99 yrs of age, adored Hannah Hauxwell having followed a television series of her life. Seeing Hannah’s smiling face beaming from the cover of your book made me feel very emotional as it brought back memories of mum, immersed in her copy of the book. You are my favourite raconteur River, I love when you have time to make a video and it’s always a bonus if it includes a visit to Tip Jar corner as I was an avid ’treasure hunter’ in junk shops (as they were called in my day) and Charity shops. I once appeared on Antiques Road Show having picked up a piece of Chelsea for 50p! I will be 80 on D Day and I’m so pleased that you are such a Monarchist with connections! Your news is always spot on!

My husband just had emergency surgery to have his gallbladder moved. He is a big guy who never complains about anything. He has other surgeries before on his back on his leg. He said this by far is the worst ever he's in agony.. Time heals all wounds right?🙏

Thank you for sharing the story of Hanna. I'll be ordering the book. I am a Texan living in Hawaii, but I have always loved the stories of the English countryside. My first exposure was through the books by James Harriot. Then, the book, "God is an Englishman"!! I have always loved your history and the late Queen Elizabeth. Most of us wish we had world leaders that had HALF the integrity your Queen Elizabeth had. And with the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, the future of the Monarchy is BRIGHT!!! Very proud of Queen Camilla, also. No one has suffered more than she has from the media. So glad for her (AND Charles!) that she is appreciated now. She deserves it!

Hello River, Checking in with for some laughter and giggles. Where I am at, Saskatoon, Canada. We are having a blizzard. as much as25-40 cm of snow and more to come. With wind gusts up to 70 km/h wind. terrible weather. But you look so cozy in your coat and chair, so I am blinging it up as well in my fluffy housecoat and slippers. It's a comfy kind of day. movies and popcorn later. Thank you Prince William for visiting Synagogue. Had family in concentration camps. Some survived and some did not. God Bless you all.

I am week 3 post abdo surgery. OMG I can still barely stand for 15 mins. Of course Catherine is much younger than myself but her recovery time is definitely within normal range. I am only now doing some laundry with help. When healing you need plenty of sleep and rest and light exercise regardless of age. Any small slip or jolt can cause wound healing complications. Leave her alone she doesn't need to be pushed.

I could hardly walk and needed a term off as a high school teacher. I wasn’t much older than Princess Catherine and had suspected ovarian cancer which proved to be incorrect, much to our relief.

I had a major abdominal surgery when I was 40, it literally took me 2 years to recover fully and years later still get pain from adhesions. Catherine needs time and understanding and im so glad that she has a wonderfully supportive husband

Hoping the Princess of Wales is recovering well. She is in good physical shape which will be helpful for her. Abdominal surgery is not to be taken lightly. It takes time. It’s painful and easily messed up if not allowed to heal properly. Prayers for her and family.

I've had abdominal surgery and it absolutely takes 3 to 6 months to feel like yourself. Yes you have to get back into life if you have to work which I did. But if you have the time take the time❤😂

River, Your broadcast was very interesting. I have lived on a farm during my 76 year life. That lady lived on an old timey farm life, like my husband’s grand parents and great grandparents. I have heard my mother in law , talking about making brooms out of weeds, to sweep the yard, as there were no lawnmowers , and no grass , to jeeps snakes away . They scrubbed their floors with lye and a scrub brush .I can not even imagine a life like that . Wonderful that a documentary was made . I asked my mother in law to speak to the children in our 4H club about how it was to live in the 1920’s on a farm . I would love to find that book to read to my grand daughters who I home school, here in the South East USA ❣️

I loved the Little House on the Prairie books, and so did my class quite recently, including the boys. Also loved The Egg and I by Betty MacDonald, and all American Literature, which I studied alongside Eng.Lit. I found it fascinating and remember what Lye could do if splashed on skin! I'm from the UK, but I remember too the Channel Island farms in my family. Full of old old furniture...and ancient ticking clocks. Thank your for family story.

I was pleased to see you mentioned the MND charity. There’s the first drug trial in Australia about to commence for MND sufferers. There has been a huge amount of money raised by a famous footballer here who has MND. Princess Anne is a legend for helping to raise awareness as fundraising is vital in finding cures. I happened on a sugar podcast in the last few days. It was disgusting. Every horrible piece of gossip they could concoct about our wonderful Prince and Princess of Wales. They could not have gone lower. It was good to hear your perspective and to realize that William and Catherine will only be more loved by the people in the face of these attacks.

Hannah Hawkswell's life was amazing. Her home, with mice and rats, had no heating, no electricity, single glazed windows, no running water meaning she walked down to the river to collect water in buckets and carry them back up hill to her home. Winters were harsh so she was often snowed in too. Being from Yorkshire I bought her first book which is beautiful.

Princess Catherine should come back when she is good and ready. I have had many surgeries and sometimes I was able to quickly bounce back, other times it took a long time. She should be given all the time she needs and it is no one’s business as to the surgery she had.
