William Ury is one of the world's best-known experts on negotiation and mediation, on a personal level, business level, and global level. He is coauthor of "Getting to Yes", the bestselling negotiation book in the world, and he is co-founder of the Harvard Negotiation Projects. He counsels governments worldwide and is an internationally sought-after expert in the development and teaching of value-oriented conflict solutions in the interest of all those involved. He has served as a negotiation adviser and mediator in conflicts ranging from family feuds, labor strikes, and boardroom battles to wars in the Middle East, the Balkans, Russia and Latin America. He currently works as an advisor to the president of Colombia on ending a fifty-year civil war. This dialogue with Thomas Hübl about trauma integration is part of the Pocket Project, an initiative dedicated to deepening our understanding of collective and intergenerational trauma, and to train groups of people worldwide to work effectively in conflict and trauma situations. Thank you for allowing us to listen to this conversation. There is so much value, heart, and hope here. I really liked the idea of the third party neutral witness. In my experience, such a witness awakens the witness in the parties in conflict. May we all engage with open hearts in such a way, restoring the wholeness that is waiting to be seen.

I live in Colombia and I am a negotiation trainer & advisor. I admire doctor Ury as a brilliant academic. However, the Colombia agreement is a biased agreement. Today, FARC continue trafficking drugs, they received too much and delivered too little. Santos used this negotiation process to get the Nobel Prize and he got the agreement at any cost. Santos was a very soft negotiator and the FARC was aware of this and became a tough negotiator. I sincerely think that FARC - Santos was a poor conceived agreement. It was created a special justice court to trial the FARC which most of us consider biased. This court is making its best efforts to impede the extradition of FARC members to US for drug traffic. A negotiation with a huge technical mistakes, in my personal criteria.

Todos los comentarios son elogiosos, pero nadie, Ury ni quienes comentan han señalado la grosera utilización polìtica y partidista y de auto promoción que ha dado Juan Manuel Santos al asunto del acuerdo de paz, que ha sido un aspecto que ha radicalizado los apoyos y las oposiciones a ese acuerdo, así como también los privilegios que ha concedido a los criminales de las FARC para conseguir su objetivo. El logro es positivo, pero la forma ha sido obsena, aunque esto no resta méritos a quienes han acompañado ese proceso.
