It has been the hardest 2 1/2 years of my life and that is saying a lot- I've suffered through sexual abuse, physical abuse, alcoholism, job loss... and the loss of a loved one is something I would not wish on my worst enemy.

Part of it is that it's not just the loss of the loved one that is being grieved over- I also grieve for the loss of my FUTURE. I WAS going to grow old with her. I was going to watch her watch our children graduate, get married, have children. Now I still have 25+ years ahead of me, and SHE'S gone but the FUTURE is still coming my way.

I liked to see him sad. Not because I want to see someone hurting, but because he is able to both share his pain so honestly, and empathize so strongly with the pain of the artist. These are both healthy ways of coping, I think (but what do I know). I can also, empathize with both of them. I understand.

I personally have no idea how I managed to avoid the minefields in my life aside from the HUGE ones... but I think the most AMAZING thing I have done is BREAKING the cycles of abuse. I COULD have been a terrible person, I had MANY opportunities... but I couldn't. I COULDN'T. So now my kids are growing up WITHOUT that. Thank GOD.

@@williamroeben Remember the losses you feel is like a ball in a big room pressing a button sometimes... but be happy knowing that the ball will get smaller as time progresses. Thus pressing the button less.

I feel ya brother... Had the same reaction to the video when I first saw it. It's really well done and shows exactly the destructive nature people can go through after losing someone. No idea if you'll see this comment or if anyone else has commented it yet, but you should listen to the Hippie Sabotage remix of this song. Same lyrics (actually he cut a lot out) but i felt even more emotion with his version. One of those views song where the remix is almost better than the original

You know....that's funny. If you lose somebody who loves you, he/she would mostly like to see you happy and well. And what are humans doing after their losses.....they cry, are sad, swimm in their Tears and and eventually kill themselve. I think if you love somebody you should honor his wishes even after his/her death. But most people only care of themselve and their own wishes. That's a real joke. If you say you loved somebody who died, then fuckin smile, feel great, move on and put on a happy face. That's what they would want!

That's something I have been struggling with as an issue since 1993 when I first asked a friend, "Is it better to never love and never hurt, or is it better to love and then LSOE that person?" Little did I know I was asking about my FUTURE. The thing is, I still don't know. I would marry my wife again in an instant- I would gladly throw myself into an infinite time loop where I spend eternity taking care of my wife from start to finish Just To See Her Again- but at the same time I am still looking at 20, 25 YEARS of life with no Jennifer in it EVER AGAIN. Is THAT worth it? I honestly don't know.

I have some idea how you feel. There's a loved one I haven't heard from in over a year, and I'm worried she may have done something drastic and permanent after her friend's daughter passed of cancer last January. Also, treating grief with intoxicants and hallucinogens is actually a pretty bad idea.

+Grace Holmes some hallucinogens like mushrooms and LSD are enthenogens which are drugs that many people have life altering spiritual experiences on. They've helped many people overcome sever anxiety, depression, ptsd, etc. but they can also bring out underlying mental illnesses you didn't know you had. So it's a bad idea for some but they can also save other people's lives.

True. And the experiences *I* have had on LSD have been, except for the anxiety attacks brought on my alcoholism at the latter point of my LSD taking, EXCELLENT and WONDERFUL times. I think maybe the UNSUPERVISED use of may be what I meant.
