@DocDudix10 жыл бұрын
Being born in 1987, I grew up listening to these V10's in Formula 1, and part of my love for F1 was due to that amazing sound. To me this is the real sound of F1. I almos feel like crying when I watch this video, because I feel like "my" F1, that I loved for so many years, has come to and end. It was gradually going downhill with all those stupid rules over the past few years, but now it hit the bottom. To me, this isn't F1. F*** Jean Todt and the FIA, they're letting down real racing fans just so they can embrance some fake idea of environmentalism. F1 and environmentalism don't belong together. Road cars, maybe, but not F1, which is supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsport. The pinnacle of motorsport using 1.6L engines which sound like vacuum cleaners? No, thanks. You can argue that in the 80's they used the same sort of engine (low capacity V6 Turbo), but it was completely different. Those cars were beasts, capable of developing more than 1000hp, and they were far, far more awesome to watch and hear. It wasn't the best sound ever, sure, but at least it sounded powerful, it had a soul, something the sound of this new "racing series" (I refuse to call it F1) doesn't.
@DimZ_F110 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. Maybe cause i was born the same year and i was lucky enough to watch a Grand Prix with those V10s in action. To add to your comment, turbo usage in 70's and 80's was the pinnacle of technology, in the sharp edge of development. 10's turbo is nothing like that (freeze on engine development anyone?). To put it simply, it's nothing more than a gimmick, so that engine/car manufacturers can relate F1 cars with their road cars. Bulls***t if you ask me...

@AronReineman19946 жыл бұрын
same, im from 94 but this is the sound of f1 for me. youre absolutely right f1 is supposed to be the Pinnacle of motorsport but now its more like a proving ground for future road car tech, its only the very high heat co-efficient of these v6 engines that causes this. look at the clip Mercedes made about that achievment, they now manage over 50% co-efficiency and thats ofcourse interesting for normal road car engines. bring back the fuel gusling 10 cylinders and put away the vacuum on steroids! or make a separate class for it and call it formula road car inovation!

One half of F1 was the action. The other half was the sound of the V10/V12 engine. Old man Bernie took away half of what made F1 so great (the sound). So for me, with F1 cars being so quiet now, Half of what made F1 so spectacular has gone. So I personally think F1 needs a re-think. Bring back the V10 around 2700cc or 3000cc and lets see cars looking different with constructors own ideas on aerodynamics like front and rear wing designs etc. Like DocDudix said in previous post, These small engine turbo cars do sound like vacuum cleaners (which I hate). its coming to something when F3 cars are more spectacular to see and HEAR !. If you agree please click like.
