Prime example of why 80s pinball machines are the best - fast paced, killer sound effects, and more skill involved. Nowadays - you flip the ball, it goes into a hole and you wait around for 5 minutes while the machine does all the work.

ONE OF THE BEST GAMES OF ALL TIME! Such great sound effects! This brings me back to my young teen days when I'd spend HOURS in the bowling alley playing Firepower and Defender. Thanks for the upload!

THAT TABLE IS BOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very challenging. I have to use all my pinball skills on this machine. I play this on Pinball Arcade now on my Android Smartphone, Android Tablet, Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita.

I worked in an arcade in the early '80's. Firepower was the most popular machine we had, more than any of the new video game or other pinball machine. There was always a line of people waiting to play.

I never got very good at this game but I love it... always had to play it at least a few times when I went over to the late lamented Pinball Wizard in Pelham, NH. In some ways Firepower seems almost like the minimal, prototypical case of what most solid-state pinballs after it would be like. It's not, by far, the first pin to have multiball, but it is (I think) the first solid-state multiball and the one that sort of established it as a must-have rather than an occasional gimmick; it also introduced player-controlled lane change for the rollover lanes. I see it as the moment when solid-state pinball started to break away from designs that resembled electromechanical games.

Yes...I did. Complete restored along with doing Playfield Touchups and Auto Clear Coating. Electronics totally gone through. This game is priceless to me. Pinball machines are hard to price not knowing the shape. But, let assume everything did work and the playfield, backglass and cabinet were is good shape..then the price would start at $900 and go up depending on shape. (IMHO) This one is a classic!

My favorite pinball machine of all time! Played it for hours with "aquired" quarters when I was a young teen. I want to own one of these so bad...

Thanks for the comment. I still choose this game over many of my other more modern machines. Great Fun.

I actually own one of these. It worked when I bought it, it stopped working a few years ago, and the local pinball guy wanted over $400 to fix if, and that's if I delivered it to his shop. Mine isn't in as good condition as the one in the video. I really miss playing it. I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and pay the man to fix it.

You are correct. Several of the Williams machine made around 1978-81 would include the same sounds. Usually different pitches or order. Thanks for the comment.

@MartyInLa It sucks to have to pay so much to fix it ... but another option is to get the Williams Pinball classics for the Wii ... at least then the pinball machine can never wear out or mechanically break down. Its not the same as the real thing, but pretty good ...

Some of the same sound effects are used in the video game Defender. Also made by Williams.

Was this the one that had the buttons on the side to control the magnets to grab the ball and throw it around?

@sirlordwhitman Respectfully disagree. In my opinion, you play one early Williams, you've "HEARD" them all. I DO like the sound effects, but they are basically all the same buzzes and zips. No real audio theme from box to box. The electronics were just limited. I think nostagia plays more into ppl who think these are the greatest over the newer Stern machines. I'd trade every old Williams in the room for Twilight Zone, Sherk, Family guy, STNG. Deep rulesets = longevity.
