Yeah, but NOW--- we have Japanese people trying to cash in on the victory, when it's SO well known in Japan, that if you are not 100% Japanese, you are NOT Japanese. Why can't Osaka just "BE"? It's always gotta be "that she's this race and that race". She's not BLACK or JAPANESE. She just IS.

+Darren Dix Your comment is so insensitive. You don't understand Osaka's feelings at all. What do you want us to call her? An alien without a nationality? How do you think she would feel playing for Japan if people like you can't accept her as Japanese?
@inquisitvem6723
@inquisitvem6723 5 жыл бұрын
She is Japanese- American. She lived in America since she was 3. They only calling her Japanese because her parents want her to play in the Olympics and the U.S wasn't going to give her a spot over the Williams sisters and Madison Keys. Thus, her parents used their dual citizenship for Osaka.

I agree with Muni Rathnam, but Serena's aces are more than Naomi's one. Serena made more unforced errors. It is more apparent in US open. In US open Naomi's aces are more. If Serena does not try more difficult shot, she would lose soon. Therefore, she cannot but try superaces. Actually Serena has such a skill, but its parcentage of success is low.

Osaka, A Star is Born. Osaka may marvel Serena, but her play reminds me of Ana Ivanović; especially, when Osaka affirms herself after a great shot with the fist pumps. It's very reminiscent of Ivanović. I love how Osaka like Hingis, keeps her unforced errors low to none. I hope Osaka will be a G.O.A.T. in the making! Osaka can combine the strengths of Serena, Ivanovic, and Hingis. That's one awesome player! Go Osaka!
@TranscendngTouch
@TranscendngTouch 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah but Ivanovic didn't move nearly as well as Osaka.
@michaellee888
@michaellee888 5 жыл бұрын
Ivanovic did, but unfortunately, her injuries hampered her which over time ultimately ended her career at the age of 30 when Ivanovic decided to retire in 2016; her play was never the same after her French Open win in 2008. One cannot win the French Open and not move well. That does not happen. Mary Pierce was not known for her movement, but she overcame that to win the French Open in 2000. The pressure to win slowly overcame Ivanovic. This is where Osaka might be different. Osaka's support team and she herself is stronger in handling pressure because of examples set by prior players. Osaka knows how to diffuse pressure. There are many players that have not handled pressure well, Daniela Hantuchová, Nicole Vaidišová, Mirjana Lucic, and many more. Both Ivanovic and Hantuchova both received pressure on their appearance as well, for example, their weight. Every tennis player has adversity to tackle, but not every player can win over their adversities. With tennis being both mental and physical, you can really measure the player's career on their consistency. Distractions from outside forces do play a part on a player's consistency. For example, health, movement, stamina, mental strength, etc. Monica Seles was NEVER the same after the stabbing; even more, when her father passed away from stomach cancer in 1996. Seles started her comeback in 1995. Steffi Graf, may be regarded as the best mover of all time, could not compose herself when her dad got in trouble with tax evasion and was jailed in 1997. Graf had many injuries herself and to deal with her father's situation, that's too much. Graf's parents divorced in 1999. Graf's father passed away in 2013 from pancreatic cancer. Ironic that the fathers of Graf and Seles both passed away from cancer. Seles' dad passed away younger at 64yo vs Graf's dad passed away at 75yo. It would seem destined that Graf and Seles were supposed to create out of this world tennis matches for the fans to watch, but alas a crazy fan ruined that forever. Osaka was reminiscent of Ivanovic's play when she was at her best. The gestures, the style, etc. I would agree to say Osaka is better, but it's a given and one would hope so that each generation gets better!

Serena has been through hell, and she's still standing tall. And one thing is for certain and that is no matter how her name may be trashed, You can never take her Greatness away for her. Yes she's older, and yes she is doing great in spite of her age, and time in the game. I mean after all it was a great accomplishment for her to even reach the finals. There was several heavy hitter who tried their level best to take Serena out before the US Open, and Osaka was the one able to do it with Ramos help.

In back to back tournaments, Naomi's 1st round opponents were the stuff of nightmares. 1st round in Indian Wells was Sharapova. 1st round in Miami was Serena. And she managed to beat them both, not because the other two were playing poorly, but because Osaka played better. In fact, Sharapova and Serena were actually playing really well. Sharapova even clawed back from 4-1 down in both sets to tie it at 4-4. Other young girls would have panicked by now. But not Osaka.

I believe the best way to beat Serena is to overpower her. Yes some players pick up the odd victory against Serena but you check the head to head record and highly likely Serena will have the positive head to head record. This is not the case with Osake who is younger and fitter than Serena but has the ability to overpower Serena too. This may be Serena's most difficult ever match up she will have faced in her career vs Osaka.

@Patricia Grady Are you serious? She is, of course, popular in Japan, and japanese people were not ashamed of her. Because she is Japanese.I do not know what kind of person you are, but you should not say something terrible.To say such a thing, you can be regarded as discriminatory.

@Patricia GradyHer grandfather was worried about the marriage between her father and her mother, but that was a long time ago, now he is on good terms with her family. I know you want to say Naomi badly. And I know you are a troll. Whatever you say, the popularity of Japanese Osaka Naomi will not change.

I lived in Japan for 5 years and I know how they think about foreigners. The Japanese would not accept a half Haitian woman as there own. I know this. But they can at least be friendly with all races. When I lived there which is about 13 years ago they actually had clubs that had signs that said no foreigners allowed. But, I actually understood why these clubs where like this. The older Japanese like a quite, peaceful and respectful time, and they know drunk foreigners can wreak havoc in a club.

I don't think a copycat is a victorious person...it is the person who has the original style is the victorious one. ..and has been around...because Serena just had a baby a year ago a lot of changes take place in a woman's body...her body needs time for that adjustment , and motherhood changes a person's life outlook...what is my greatest love and achievement...and where do I want to spend most of the time with..life's goal of passion changes and the focus and adjustment changes for a season..until that time...to start anew..so Serena needs this time to get back focus...and still with all of this she did well..I am proud of her achievements💚

Was he called a racist? That's ridiculous. It wasn't at all a race thing or woman vs man thing from what I witnessed. He called it as he saw it and he was right lol. She also has a right to be mad if she thought he was 'attacking her character' but...TOO BAD. I'm would've been happy for either of them but good on Naomi. She played well and she kept out of it which was very good too. I wouldv'e been all up in that drama cos I'm a gossip-goose XD

I personally would like to see more variety to Osaka's game. The baselining is all right. But then again, she should incorporate coming to the net oftener, the drop shot, lob, and more cross court angles. In other words, make short work of a game whenever possible. Save wear and tear even on a young bod.
