I've seen some recent videos on social media of this horse and he seems to be moving a lot better, even trotting and cantering, but it still looks extremely unnatural and strained. All I can say is I hope he's not suffering. :\

People who are missing a leg look unnatural and strained when they're walking, but ask them if they're 'suffering' and they'll laugh at you and just say 'no, just inconvenienced'. A horse who is walking unnaturally is *inconvenienced* by the missing leg, but they are not necessarily *suffering*.

He looks like he's still learning to use it, in my opinion. Unsure of the dimensions of the prosthetic / which leg positions are safe.

Yeah, and neither can a human being who just got a prosthetic either. No offense, but he's never going to 'walk normally' again and he doesn't have to in order to be a happy horse. He just has to be able to patrol a field now and then, when he's feeling up to it, and otherwise just grow fat and socialize with his friends for the next twenty years. I don't know why with every other animal people seem to understand that an animal can be disabled and still be happy, a goat, a cow, a deer, a donkey, but they lose their minds when a horse can't walk properly. Ya'll be brainwashed by the race horse industry normalizing euthanasia for leg injuries so they don't have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars rehabilitating an animal they just injured and giving it a proper retirement out at pasture for a life of service.

Sorry but the owner is being selfish. The horse's quality of life is going to suffer. Sure you can say that he's alive but he can't run around or move like a normal horse. Horses NEED to move. The prosthetic is going to do more harm than good to the horse's health.
@crazyhairsinger
@crazyhairsinger 2 жыл бұрын
Nah, killing it is selfish because you horse owners only see horses as money-making machines, and since that horse can't run/jump or whatever sh*t you force these animals to do to make money, you kill it. Just be honest and say you only see a horse as a money-making machine.

@@crazyhairsinger if a horse has damage done that is impossible to fix and loses the ability to use the leg as a result, then it needs to be put down humanely. Putting the horse down is the kindest thing to do. I'm sure those owners don't want to let their horse go but our current technology is not advanced enough to provide a 3 legged horse with the same quality of life as a 4 legged horse. There are a lot of irresponsible horse owners out there that exploit their horses, but there are a lot of good ones too that put what is in the best interest of the horse first before the humans wants and needs. The people in this video are only thinking about themselves and what they want, and not about the horse or it's quality of life now.

@@crazyhairsinger horses also don't move and balance the same way as cats and dogs do on prosthetics because of their anatomy and size. Any video you look at of a horse on a prosthetic, they only use it for a tiny bit of balance so they don't fall over but their body looks uncomfortable. They don't put their full weight on it. Horses weigh too much to use a prosthetic correctly. They literally will only survive for a few more years before they can no longer walk anymore because of the added stress on their body. Their spine will suffer the most. Can you imagine how much the horse has to over compensate every muscle in its body, using it's entire body incorrectly to make up for the lost leg? Horses already walk on 4 stilts. How can anyone ask a horse to walk on 3 stilts it can feel with and then one stilt they cannot feel and interact with the world with? Horses were designed by nature to move for miles and miles a day. Even a 4 legged horse that cannot walk for one reason or another will become lame and arthritic. You can't just keep a horse in a stall all day because it needs to move, run, kick it's feet up and play. A 3 legged horse cannot get the same exercise or be baby sat 24/7. A 3 legged horse is destined for a life of pain and suffering. That horse's body WILL deteriorate and die.
