I remember when we signed him, at what 17 and already 6ft 3, I was curious to see how he'd do. He's got the height and the strength, his passing is basic but keeps it simple. Too early to judge but he seems decent

He plays forward balls and does very few back passes. He needs to play with midfielders that carry the ball forward. A good talent n very steady on the ball.

He has Raphael Varane’s technique. He still needs to develop a lot of things about his game to even get close to varane’s level but he has the potential. His development and introduction into the first team has gone under the radar. Personally i think it’s good for him. Less pressure on him

IMO, he did alright. I noticed some good things like him being good at getting into a position to receive the ball once hes given it away, just in case. And many underestimate that movement because mctominay rarely does it, a "veteran" and he often passes and just doesnt move to receive again. Or just stands in a position where he isnt available to receive. Thats what i dislike most about mctominay, his defensive work rate is poor, and he's available for a pass. Kambwala has both, good workrate in defence, bare minimum as a CB honestly, and find space to receive a ball.

Watched him a lot and notices that he hides so as not to receive the ball too close to opposing players because he isn't confident receiving the ball. This alongside him not making smart movements into space means we're 1 man down in midfield when building up from the back. One of the main reasons we can't play out from the back

@@victorokeke3395Some people are unlucky with injuries at the wrong time. Mengi was also wanting 1st team guarantees, so I think "mishandling" is inaccurate. Although buyback clauses ought to be the norm when selling any academy player,we should always leave room for correction....
