Installed the Wilwood Universal Parking Brake kit on my 1971 Chevelle SS. This is to go with my Wilwood rear disc brakes with internal drum parking brakes.

Nice video! That junction block idea is why I came here! (1979 Trans Am OEM metric 4 wheel discs to Wilwood.) The instruction appear to be for a console mounted hand brake, but zero info for a floor mounted parking brake pedal as I have. Thanks!

Very good video. I am A blind person and an enthusiastic mechanic. I could not see details that I would love to have an explanation for, verbally. My question is, is this a mechanical parking brake installation over an electronic one? This is what I am interested in. Please, reply to my question as soon as possible. This kit is for mechanical parking brake. I would assume for an electric parking brake you just need an electrical wire.

Thank You for this video,I just subbed because you seem to know what your doing.I have an 80 z28 and a flowmaster exhaust and the parking brake cable is wrapped around the exhaust .If I have the cable between the floor and exhaust it drags along the top of exhaust IF I have it below the exhaust it will burn and I also don't like anything hanging lower that the exhaust because it could grab shit while driving and and up bringing home all kinds of crap. L o L...I just needed an idea from someone else that does the same quality work I do.You know ,no matter how much you know or the amount of experience you have their is always some little POS that just rubs you the wrong way.I think I will try the kit you used.Maybe I can fix it better then what's their and finish the rest of my ride.ThanX again for your vid....

Thanks for the kind words. Having a brake cable below the exhaust is definitely not something I'd want to leave be.

Haha Thanks. The blocks are a great way to get the car high off the ground while maintaining ride height and full weight on the suspension.

It has an internal drum parking brake.

How do you get that clip over your emergency bracket for drum breaks mine looks like you just put the cable on it but kit didn't come with any springs for it

Let me save you 5 minutes. This is horribly incomplete as an install video. You devoted way too much time to chatting about the barrel nut. You left out the most important parts of the overall install, such as ensuring the parking brake isnt engaged during assembly, setting/tightening the adjustable block on that threaded screw, etc. I'm also not clear what you referring to when you said you needed to "adjust to your drum brake" that you mentioned at the end of the video.

I am not a mechanic,,, but I think he means the horizontal screw with notches on, which you, with a flat screwdriver can adjust by turning either way to loosen or tightening the shoes .

The drum brakes are for the parking brake, you have to adjust the drum brake shoes out so the parking brake will hold the car securely. They are only for the parking brake. The disc brakes are on the caliper and they are for stopping the car. Mike
