I started fishing barbless circle hooks last year. Having fly fished barbless for years and lost very few fish I wondered why we don't do this enough at the coast. Its in the sea where monster fish smash us up on reefs when we're not rigged well enough or lack experience. Personally leaving gear in a fish leaves me feeling the entire venture was an invasion of the sea and her creatures. Catch and release...and do it barbless!!

Definitely targeting garrick and kob, possibly even a Musclecracker. Never caught any of these 3 species before. I've been fishing since I was a little boy and have never had a quality rod or quality tackle before. This rod will truly be a treasure for me.

Awesome videos Viv. It has been twenty years since I last landed a monster cracker. So on my next trip in September to Blombos, I'll forget to put sugar in my coffee in the morning, forget to bring my cap but carry two long sticks with me, and then hope to catch 3 x monster cracker in one fishing session, whilst using my new #frannafishing #vivdames #fishagingmat. Having watched #ZLF Xander casting his new 5 & 6 #assassin rods in early June, I know I now have to upskill from my trusty #bluefish 14 ft for monster cracker. #assassinhappiness has changed our fishing and made us better #assassinanglers.
