Muay Thai Documentary, featuring Jongsanan Woodenman (Jongsanan Fairtex) of Woodenman Muay Thai.
"Win. Lose. Forgive." is a short documentary film (run-time 27 minutes) that offers a glimpse into the world of Muay Thai and the lessons it teaches.
The film features legends of Muay Thai: fighter and trainer Jongsanan "Woodenman", Monlit Sitphodaeng (voted Muay Thai Coach of the Year 2010 in Thailand), and Ben Brown, a student of Jongsanan and Monlit and owner/trainer at PHAS3 Martial Arts in Santa Rosa, California.
The film captures a powerful ethic embraced by those with deep roots in Muay Thai and the spirituality gained through this brutal sport known as the "Art of 8 Limbs."
The documentary was filmed December 6, 2012 at El Nino Training Center in San Francisco, California (elninomma.com) and January 10, 2013 Wat Buddhanusorn Thai Theravadan Buddhist Temple in Fremont, California.
The film was directed, filmed and edited by Mer Aldao (see Mer's current project at republicoflight.com) and produced by Kurt Hoffmann at Abra Marketing (AbraMarketing.com) in conjunction with PHAS3 Muay Thai ( (phas3martialarts.com).
The film was completed in May 2013 and premiered at 3rd St. Cinema in Santa Rosa, California on Saturday, July 20th, 2013.
Jongsanan Woodenman is the head coach of Woodenman Muay Thai in San Fransisco.

"Win. Lose. Forgive." Soundtrack
Custom music was created for the film. We started with the ambient, percussive sounds of training captured during the filming and then added cello, traditional Thai music played on khim that was recorded at the buddhist temple, and finally samples of Jongsanan, Monlit and Ben from the film. The result is a truly unique work of music that captures the spirit of Muay Thai and "Win. Lose. Forgive."

I started out my martial arts journey in 1972 when I was very young. I've trained in Shotokan. Various forms of Kung Fu. I even trained in & taught TKD. I am 59 now & decided to leave my comfort zone & now train in Danzen Ryu Jujitsu & am about to start training in Muay Thai as well. Once a student. Always a student.

I got to work with Jongsanan for two years at Fairtex a while back. The man has the biggest and kindest heart in the business. It's great to see him practicing what he loves and lives.

true, conversation is useless if happening without intend to develop understanding, which is differnt from understanding something. And conversation about muay thai is allso itself useless, better is it to develop mindfullness of ones beeing and dooings, samadhi, which comes from meditatin if correctly aimed at, or it is developed through meditation.

The word "understanding" includes "standing" what is slightly different than "being". We can discuss about a book with music notes of a masterpiece years and years. Even we can "under" "stand" the book and reproduce the music but we may be far away to "be" the music or far away from the mindset of the composer who was open enough to use his/her intuition to deliver the music without thinking. Thinking means also grabbing/owning but you can`t grab or own light. To much thinking is useless and thinking while playing even more useless because thoughts are too slow (intuition is fast). Muay Thai is for me a tool to cut off thinking because if I did not cut off thinking while sparring or fighting I get hurt. This I deeply learned while sparring even I did know about it before and many trainers are talked about it.

As long all this intellectual bs stand in the way for creating understanding people will keep fumbling in their training, fumbling is allso what unaskedfor/desired thinking is, as it hinders feeling, you will never get my point, which is excatly my point, both in this comment and the one you describe to be about under and standing etc., that westerners cannot get the point cause they are lost in intellectual bs. AND that is the reason I still , even living in Thailand for years, still have to see my first westerner finding that freedom, that you talk about. You may find freedom from lack of thinking ..., but that is not the ultimate freedom in a fight, cause then you would not be fighting this way, muay thai, at all, maybee tai chi, but not muay thai. The ulitmate freedom is to apply just the appropiate thinking nessesary to perfect ones game and moves in the fight and use the past time and nervesensations for feeling the nonemotional feelings in ones body in relation to the fighting. Remeber, philosophy serve an aim of reaching deeper layers of ones consiousness and so is teachings or subjects for study vs. mere prettyness.

Kurt Hoffmann Well sadly it looks like I may have to give up the idea of doing Thai boxing, because after my first class there was a pain in my left kneecap. I went to the doctors and he told me it was arthritis, and the jarring of impact could make it worse. Never mind I hope there is another martial art more suited to my condition.

I’m 46 year old Japanese woman. I started learning Muay Thai 2 years ago. I have no martial art experience other than Muay Thai. I will have my own bout in two months. My opponent is a school kid who has been doing karate for years. I still want to do it. I probably won’t win but I want to give everything I have and want to inspire people and show them how much an old woman can do.

If anyone wants to train Muay Thai I'd recommend doing it in Thailand. You can't emulate the experience in the west because it's not even close.
@MrCarstennielsen

Even gooing to Thailand to learn, demands that one knows what to aim for and how to pay correct attention to the important isseus. Too many has wasted a lot of time in Thailand learning close to nothing cause they did not know what to focus on and how. Videos like the above may help people to get more out of their trips and help them to continue the study when comming home, since I do not think there are abundance of gyms like this one in USA or anywhere else with high quality trainers who seem to maybe understand how westerners think so to really be able to help them with their issues.

It will reveal how many fights he's had obviously. It's a fair question. It's one thing being able to execute those techniques well in the gym, but a completely different game when you're in the ring.

+Backpack Escapes, hey buddy. Just saw this. Answer to your question is none. Coached and cornered hundreds of fighters, but no fights. Why the Woodenman chose me is a mystery to me , but he told me he knew what he was doing, and said "you good coach". But I understand why you would ask.
