Shooting and testing the Winchester Super X powerpoint in the BONE test. Rifle used was a Ruger 10/22 model 1115 available from Chattanooga Shooting Supplies. Chronograph used was the ProChrono Chronograph.

This round always does really well on this kind of test. Hitting that bone and holding together is excellent. After that it’s consistency, feed, fire and ejection.

Excellent! Love these tests, and quite impressed with this round! Considering how fast you can stay on target with follow up shots, imagine a 25 round mag being rapid fired into someone with these rounds...you could empty all 25 in them accurately in a matter of seconds. Not to shabby for home defense imo.

The .22 LR is my bugout caliber of choice. Lots of ammo can be carried, and it'll take a fucktard out of a fight with a quickness. If you need it for survival, it'll easily take a deer. Subsonic ammo can be made whisper quiet with an oil filter style suppressor. On my rifle I use a piece of PVC heated up and jammed on the end of the barrel, and compressed with a hose clamp. Screw the filter onto the threaded end, and fire away. It stays-put without any problems. There's no recoil, so just about anyone can fire the gun without pause. The .22 is so damn versatile.

Thank you for your video. I’ve not seen a bone test, until now. The expansion of the .22LR amazed me. I had no idea of it’s penetration ability. You’d hobble a human being with a shin shot, for sure, if you wanted to stop/slow him versus killing him. Grace and Peace

Thanks man, I love the way it looks too. It’s still my favorite ranch rifle, I use this loading pretty much exclusively in it and it’s just such a varmint killer. Rips rabbits to shreds but is also lights out on larger ones like coons and groundhogs

Impressive, small game for sure. Many Feral Hog hunters use 22 LR as do Alligator hunters in the swamp.

Totally!! I dropped a fox in it’s tracks at 25 yards with one of these, went through both shoulders and exited besides!!

Velocity and mass definitely make a difference! I would agree higher velocities tend to produce straighter penetration patterns! Thanks for dropping by silverback!!

Any idea on how the penetration we saw on this video might translate to tissue/ballistic gelatin? I'd love to be able to find a common .22 LR round capable of penetrating 12 inches while also offering good expansion. That sounds like a simple request, but is actually pretty tough to achieve with .22 LR rounds.

Yeah I can see that being a tall order for a .22 lr….I have used these on some medium game. I dropped a fox with a shot through the shoulder, went through the bone, both lungs, broke the offside shoulder and passed clean through 👍🏻

I just bought the exact ruger 10/22 that you used in the video and I use the exact same ammo but my carbine has a rough time cycling. I can typically get 4-6 shots through before it jams do you have any idea why this could be happening?

Keep your gun clean. I have to clean .22lr more than any other rifle, or it will not run good.
