Did you check the dude's ampere draw while he was lifting?
@captlarry-35256 жыл бұрын
As the battery voltage goes down with use.. speed will decrease and current ( amp draw) will likely increase to do the same work.

Well at least I could hear wich ones are straining and the ones where the sound is annoying. So quiet, hopefully reliable, and I wish you would have tried operating each manually without power. See how the handle works, move things about 3 meters and compare the difficulty. One more amp is not a problem but useless without power is not an option.

Some of the models just sounded cheap. The Maxwell, followed by the Lewmar, sounded best, and didn't seem to suffer from the power variance (the fast/slow/fast due to strain).

Can you explain why you even bothered using a manual winch please?
@harmseberhardharmseberhard99085 жыл бұрын
Because it's easy to maintain, easy to use, lightweight, and don't use electricity. My old manual Lofrans Hyspeede broke after 32 years while lifting the anchor in a 6foot swell on my 37' 11tons steel cutter. I bought a new manual windlass at the nearest chandler ( in Martinique). And I am happy with it.

How to choose a windlass: get an electric one. They're lovely. xD

8mm chain does not weight 2.2kgs per metre.
@IrregularPineapples2 жыл бұрын
unless it's cheap grade 3 I guess... which you shouldn't be using -- you are right, 8 mm should be 1.40 kg/m

You can show a man struggling with a manual lever , yet you can't show anything on how a Chain /Rode combination windlass operates. What is that rope drum on top of the chain Gypsies people are saying. Do it right or don't do it at all. I'm not impressed. Take this video down and make a new one that actually has some content.
