Another day, another Chevy!
This loaded Silverado 1500HD is having issues with a few accessories on the front passenger door not functioning. The blower motor also seems to have a mind of its own.
Let's see if we can get to the bottom of this and chase some electrical gremlins!

Well done! I love the way you and Eric O communicate with each other. It's cool how you helped him out on that crank position sensor. Eric just did one of those blower control modules on an Envoy, and he bought a NAPA part. LOL ask him about it. Weird on that door module. I have a 06 Yukon, and I had to remove the passenger door panel. It got late so I drove the truck into the garage. Buttoned it all back up, and the door went dead; nothing worked. The dealer needed to hook it up to the Tech II and reprogram the module to work again.

Your channel is awesome. You're right up there with ScannerDanner. But you also fix mechanical issues too, so that makes this channel even more valuable. As far as people trashing GM..........Like Eric O would say, they're all bad when they're broken.

Well done, for me a shaky camera or a bit of glare doesn't matter its the content, just thought id mention. Ok for me when I worked part time at my friends parts store we changed a lot of batteries and on occasion not brand specific certain BCM would not restart. Took a while to realize it was us that was causing the faults because the customer would say my car worked great till you changed the battery. If we disconnected the battery again most times they would come alive but their were a couple that did not. I wont change a battery again without putting on a system voltage maintainer and on newer models it even worse not to put a maintainer on. Just curious if the battery was disconnected prior to you seeing the truck. Also on models that have a blower resistor or integrated module in the duct work most times its the cabin air filter that's never changed that caused an over heat condition to the modules. I remember selling a customer 4 modules before he even knew he had a cabin air filter HAHA.

+Steve Rob Yup used to be after changing the battery you just reset the clock and you're good to go! Not so on late-model cars, especially those Euros where everything is memorized and initialized. Honda radios are also annoying with their anti-theft codes lol. Good point on the cabin air filter! Not sure if this truck had one...

For those of you who may be having a hard time pulling the connector with the gray strap off the module, here's how. The connector in question looks like the middle connector at 8:45 in the video. It has a gray strap around the black connector body. There is a tiny tab behind the strap on the black connector body that prevents the strap from moving. Hold it down with a small screwdriver or pick and then pivot the strap over the tab and all the way back.

with this being customer pay i would say you are right to leave the door module alone, however if this were a newer vehicle under warranty i would have put a door module in it. any module like that can seemingly come back to life for a while then have the same problem again. like you said it may be 10 years down the road but it could also be 10 minutes. i just had a similar situation with an airbag module on a 2016 kia sorento. someone replaced pretensioner and wire harness, and it came back so we were required to open a techline case. unplugged module and plugged it back in and techline told us to replace module.

great video. you might want to scope the amperage on the blower motor because the your not going to see the large spikes of amperage during turn on with a averaging amp clamp
@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics
@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics 8 жыл бұрын
+Tim Waterhouse Good point, Tim. However in this case you're only really worried about the steady-state current with the blower on HIGH. A momentary current spike won't kill the module, but prolonged over-amperage might.

Blower motor drawing too many amps because there's a rats nest in it. Just done one this morning. First thing i did was remove blower motor and shop vac the rats nest out. It just snaps out. You didn't even look in there. Look at the simple stuff first. Don't get distracted by the tech stuff. With solid state electronics it always the moving parts. Door module problem is the contacts on the moving switches. All that tech education can just get in the way.

We just bought a 2004 Chevy 2500 hd super cab pickup. Window has issues going up will get stuck halfway and really have to mess with it to go up. Blower motor only works on high. Went out of town yesterday and now the passenger door won’t unlock at all inside nor outside fob won’t unlock it nothing works… door is stuck shut. Are all these issues connected????? But really need the passenger door to open Help ……

So I have the same truck my ac works but the driver side temperature control when you turn to higher temp the digital readout jumps from higher number to lower number . If I mess with it enough I can get it to stay at higher temp to get heat. Going from a higher temp to lower temp seems to work. No problem with passenger side temperature knob

Same problem with passenger door on 2 different Chevy trucks, same diagnostics run. Ohmed all wires to door from dash plug. Tried 2 new door modules from O’Rielly thinking one must be bad, still doesn’t work. Tried batt disconnect for an hour, still nothing. Customers are losing faith in me. Since when do door locks and window motors need their own control module? I mean a simple reversing switch is all takes to control either, and when it fails you don't need a $1000 scan tool to reprogram the thing.

I have a weird problem with my passenger side door module. It worked when I bought the truck then stopped working. This past weekend it started to work everything again until this afternoon when it stopped working again. Dealer said the first time it was a broken wire then the second time it was the module. The module does function but could it be the BCM since the one I bought the truck from said it needed a computer? ECM seems to be just fine.

I just did an electric window conversion oem style on my 2003 silverado single cab. I changed out the dash harness and bcm as well as the fuse box. Got the door harness and all. Everything is hooked up but only my driver side works. On the passenger side my window does go up or down. Only the lock works on the passenger side and the mirror. Any help will be appreciated. Already been trouble shooting on my free time and i cant get to the bottom of it. Motor works when it gets direct power.

ok, i need your help. a 50A fuse marked MBEC in my underhood fuse panel keeps blowing. The first stop from this fuse are two items labeled Power Seat CB and Right Window CB. I assume that means circuit breaker....and I have found these circuit breakers. If these breakers are not popping, can I assume that the short is between the CBs and the fuse? Could a short be past the CB's and still cause the fuse to blow? I suppose if one of the CBs is be broken, which would mean the short is after the CB's anyhow and replacing the CB's wont ultimately solve the issue. Also, is there a better place for me to ask you questions, rather than on these comments?

Around the time this vehicle was manufactured, a GM engineer told me that GM only designed its vehicles to last 100 K miles because "virtually none" of their customers ever drove a car longer than that. When I tried to explain to him that was because their cars were poorly made and COULDN'T be driven longer than that, and that there might be a good market for a higher-quality car that could be driven forever and repeatedly repaired, he laughed at me and told me I didn't know what I was talking about. Then GM declared bankruptcy and got their government bailout so they could continue making their crappy cars at the taxpayers' expense. Really, the federal government should have just put the company out of its misery. I would NEVER buy one of those cars, and many people I know agree with me. But have a nice day, GM!!

+William Crowell Interesting view point. I worked for GM for 30 years on the line and do not have a bias in saying anything but the truth. I have friends that are various types of engineers at GM and they have never mentioned to me a mileage design failure points. Spent 10 years in Quality control and never seen a flagrant known production design fault. As with all vehicle manufactures there are design challenges . As to your comment about putting GM out of its misery, id say your really talking about my brother and sisters that just try to scratch out a living and in no way are responsible for the miss management of a corporation. If it was your family member that worked there would you suggest such a thing. There are many corporations in America that receive support from taxpayers and for me I thought it was the right thing to do at the time in keeping the jobs in America as much as possible rather that throw out 2 million Americans on to the unemployment line. I'm not American , I do buy American , I own a newer Ford as well as two Gm vehicles . I don't share your opinions but that cool with me you have a right to express your thoughts. William you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Steve

+William Crowell William, I worked for a GM component group for 33 years. Worked with a lot of engineers and quality control individuals. Been through many a component failure review. Not one time did we have a 100K breaking point rule. We looked for zero component failure in every part of our manufacturing. We use the best parts available and built quality and reliable products thanks to our dedicated workforce. In fact we built components for both Chrysler, Ford, European and Asian manufactures. So I guess if your premiss is valid. You will have plenty of the other manufactures vehicles breaking down for the same reason.
