one thing that many misses about these unofficial iso with removed bloatware versions is that you get less errors and issues or even blue screen compared to stock original one as there are less Microsoft pre-built app & files that are running or interfering with one another and if there is a problem within a codes of one which is affecting the other,you are now safe..there were many times that one or two issues were widespread among windows users while many of those individuals that were using unofficial custom windows didn't to have them which only means those extra unnecessary services+apps+files are more of a problem-maker rather than giving much to vast majority of users if not all.

ive been using Ghost Spectre for almost 1 year now and i do enjoy this custom version of the OS cause i do have a very OLD Pc Intel i5-6500T w/8gb of ram and i am able to play games like Genshin, League, Valorant, and Csgo Low Settings with a smooth Performance. and this is just amazing that the creator of the custom OS is getting noticed by some Larger Tech youtuber, and its AMAZING

This was a really cool dive into custom OS installs. This definitely got me to try out Ghost Spectre on my personal system and it’s like getting into PC gaming for the first time. In a good way. These sorts of projects fascinate me, especially on the low end side

Using the Ghost spectre modded window around more than a year and my experience is excellent. Recommended Ghost spectre windows to many friends of mine. Best modded windows till now in my experience.

The difference on the low end is all about RAM capacity so if you was doing this test on 16GB things would be different. I got 16 GB 2400 tCL 11 (timings and sub timings manullay extremely OCed) with I3-8100 so I don't think I will gain anything from that. However the 0.1% is not something that could destroy the gameplay. I care about the minimum and 1% only. Thank you for showing this. I appreciate your time

The real question is if you go thru the trouble of loading Ghost Spectre and you do any future windows updates does that revert everything back to default? If it doesn't I may give this a try but I wont bother unless I know because thats a lot of work to go thru only to have the updates ruin it.

My problem when modifying windows 10 is that if you're not careful something will stop working. Something that I use a lot. I have my windows 10 slightly modified with most of the windows telemetry and bloat removed.

HOLD UP THATS SO SICK, 0.1% FPS are so important in Esport Games.

Honestly I used the ghost specter version for almost 2 years since I bought my Ryzen 1st gen computer. I recommend the super lite version only if you plan to game on it. Since it is quite trimmed, but the real potential (at least personally) is the possibility of compressing your entire C drive with the LZX algorithm. I stopped using it because I upgraded my system to a Ryzen 3th generation + 32gb ram + 2tb Nvme in to Raid 0 and the differences are exactly as shown in the video. But certainly it is a fairly optimized windows.

Because you're also testing two different platforms that are affected differently by the specter and meltdown vulnerability I would be very much interested to see a follow up with an AMD low spec system compared to the 5950X and the RTX 3090. Maybe a 6300 and a GTX 970 combo from five six years ago?

On these custom ISO installs, can they possibly be messed up by OS updates?

I am glad more people are recommending custom ISOs for gaming, pretty much every UI apple like eye-candy features that were introduced in W11 are a downgrade for gamers and power users.

Let see your custom window vs /default / vs Linux like pop os or something. both native Linux supported game vs non native (proton) vs custom windows /default windows.. 07:18 I believe you forgot to add the low-end CPU score for Cinebench.

All the calls in the background by various processes makes that stutter even if you have a new PC. DPC latency test would be interesting too. At the end it's worth disabling stuff. I just go over the windows settings, then W10Privacy, then i disable few stuff with Autoruns and it works fine. Btw the new Edge update added new services to the background, so the software opens faster. Few hundred extra RAM use for nothing. Make sure you disable that inside Edge settings. Thanks for your benchmarks, this type of content is the most interesting to me.

thanks for the review.. im using ghost spectre on my PC, its only a dual core with 4g memory and 2g pcie-VC+1gb shared. for the 6th month i using it, i can tell it 100% good in gaming. i'm playing Cabal Online Private Server, NBA2k19, NFS Carbon, Splinter, Devil May Cry 4, Dying Light ... and no problem encountered.

I've been using Ghost Spectre's windows 10 versions for about 2 years now, I upgrade to a new version after a few weeks of him releasing it, It's a lightyear better. I just don't recommend the superlite because you may need a windows feature that got removed in that version, and instead use the Compact version.

I'm on Lite versions since the W7 beta days hahaha and yeah they are the best experience not just for gaming, for anything on a pc, especially on budget or old pcs. In fact i didn't even use a full version for like 14 years already hahaha and still wondering why people keep using them. Most of the time people say "cause of work, I want everything 100% legit and working", so basically cause of fears hahaha Btw i'm also using that same Ghost Spectre version right now and for several weeks already, and it's one of the best out there. And if you are in doubt about is it safe you can always install a good firewall+hips before even putting your internet cable in the pc and block all incoming and even outgoing connections and just exclude and configure the programs which need internet like browsers, games, programs and so on.

I could say yes to some extent. I had a low spec laptop until to this day comes with the oldest version of Windows 10 when it was purchased back in 2016. When I had to try GTA 5 on it's lowest settings, it was able to run it. A bit stuttery sometimes when all background services are not running. When my laptop's W10 was heavily updated, it was an unplayable stuttery mess.

So, I'll get smoother gameplay, a little bit lighter install size and get to feel better about removing all that junk? I see this as an absolute win.

You should test performance on a Ryzen APU. I think that's where less RAM usage would benefit users the most. (Ryzen 2200g + 8Gb ram, 1 stick or 2 stick dual-channel)

I succesfully debloated my windows 10 instalation with the help from your last video but I am not getting as good of a results. Few apps are missing (that's good) but the number of processes and CPU spikes are still there. I just don't know what I am doing wrong. The only thing that I changed was adding Win Defender and removing Win Store and Xbox.

What do you loose going for this lighter versions instead of the regular one? Could it cause some long term issues like incompatibility with programs, plugins, other services I don't know. And then do you recommend going for this on the main system or maybe is it better to have it on a special partition just for gaming?

Hey Brian it would be interesting if you could run a super nerdy fortnite optimal settings build using the latency markers enabled in the fortnite HUD that way you can test for and 1% lows on FPS and how that will affect your in game input lag in latency to see which would be the best settings to use and in which rendering engine.

I understand on paper their are benefits to a custom windows install with a smooth gaming experience, but if your already getting a smooth gaming experience would you actually notice this in game? I used to get stuttering with battlefield 5, then i set an fps limit so the GPU had about 80% usage, and now its silky smooth.

Will these custom Windows 10 installs still download Windows updates?

Might want to try it out as long as it doesn't fuck with Xbox and wmr and mail. After installing what's need windows easily goes above 2,5gb -3,5gb of ram default. Used to kill of all I didn't need myself down to 1.1gb-1.7gb ram. But there usually was some fuck'ups and errors. So hope this doesn't have those errors. I'm still rocking a 4770k, 16gb 2400mhz and a GTX 970 mini on a z97i and love the system it performs very well. Just widows that keeps updating and slowing it down. Although it's still worth a wait for a upgrade. ;) Good little itx build. Actually using the shield TV pro and Xbox more these days. ;P

Doing networking/security for my clients for years I rather not risk installing spec.

Doesn't Ryzen 3000+ have firmware level spectre, and meltdown mitigation built into the BIOS? Also the Ghost Spectre mod seems to disable about all security features by default. If you install your own you should be fine but I think it ship with only a firewall and absolutely nothing else.

Have you ended up using it more or gave up on it? I am thinking about installing it, but concerned on how safe it is, considering dev hasn't been very open on what has been modified. Has anyone checked this OS in depth?

I've used a couple of SPECTRE'S LITE Windows Distros, I prefer just just use them on older laptops/desktops anyways, machines I would not even consider for gaming or much outside of light browsing and basic use just because his versions are lighter, less resource hungry and have a lot of the useless stuff carved out.
