Wubuntu (aka "Windows Ubuntu") is a Linuxfx based operating system that contains all the themes and tools similar to Microsoft Windows 10 (for Cinnamon) and 11 (for Plasma). Although Wubuntu is based on Linuxfx, it follows its own line of development.

@@fffUUUUUU All themes and icons used to create Wubuntu were downloaded from KDELOOK, under GPL license. These are themes that are available for any user to download and use.

@UUU I'm not sure this is an IP violation. AFAIK most of the actual 'meat' the the UI features used in windows are well past patent, or microsoft never held a patent for them because they already existed, and trademark only works for a commercial product, there's nothing illegal with just providing a free 'skin' full of windows-like logos, backgrounds, and art assets for people to install themselves.

Don, I'd like to see you install some games, both old school late 90's (original Starcraft!) and early 2000's games, as well as modern titles to see how gaming on it works. Maybe this is a PopOS killer!?

I think they may have overpriced their product, considering how cheap it is to get a Windows license these days. $10 or $20, would put it more into impulse buy territory.

Can you link a reliable seller? That sells legitimate Windows and Office keys for that little?

@@AntonChekhoff Use MAS activator script, I've used it successfully on windows 7, 8, 10, and 11. It also works for some office versions. Basically it forcibly activates them somehow. You don't have to pay anything at all then.

Windows 10 end-of-support is 10/2025. I have one laptop that can officially run Windows 11, but I need to start looking into WINE as an option for other computers. It seems as if suddenly a lot of hardware will become obsolete, and some of my free software (VMware, pfSense) may become pay-only. I'm not happy with how things are going, but your videos are very helpful. Thanks!

Just checked and yeah, Windows 10 end of life is 10/25 but windows 11 End of life is 10/23?!? good thing I still didn't install win11 lol!

Don't worry bout that, just look up a tutorial to circumvent the limitation. Can be pretty easy too

@@jkm4505 I've thought about that. It works, but I don't trust Microsoft to continue to allow that. I guess it would be a problem for MS if they broke the hack, and millions of work PC's couldn't boot. Ask me again next year. By then, I may have changed my mind. Thanks for the suggestion!

Wubuntu is a theme for Linuxfx or Kubuntu. Redsand is other theme (without Microsoft icon and apps)

The use of llvmpipe could be because the kernel is 5.10 and the N95 processor's iGPU is not supported. It would be nice if you can upgrade the kernel to a newer one to see if it switches to using an Intel iGPU driver.

Same contact info on each site, even the same Brazilian phone number. Checking wiki, appears Wubuntu is just what they decided to name the newest release of LinuxFX. So, a rebrand of sorts, dual websites maybe to increase reach. A bit puzzling, but not likely a fork as far as I can tell from a quick search.

LOL! So let me get this right. I can purchase a lower cost Windows 11 license or pay $35 to theme Ubuntu. I'd rather theme it how I want and use wine if needed. That's all free. There are some good free Windows themes too. Great video though explaining everything about it.

The biggest thing would probably be the various windows logos and icons probably being under trademark. But that's a simple fix, just replace those art assets with legally distinct, but intuitive, alternatives.

Microsoft lets Canonical run Ubuntu under Windows so its not going to complain too much about a reskinned Windows clone. If you want to run Windows as a service, you can. Hard to see where Redmond is losing money or having its patents infringed. Now Windows runs on Linux. We all knew this was bound to happen sooner than later. 😊

Why would you for real want to use a WIndows 11 clone? All the security problems of Windows with a lot of the headaches of Linux trying to run Windows compatible apps, all while paying $35 to use it. Id rather stick to a Linux distro and just run Linux equivalent apps while styling to my liking.

@@erbalumkan369 Not really. One's proneness to infection is mainly based on how one uses their computer. If you give someone a computer and all they do is make text documents on their system and don't connect to the Internet. They are pretty much immune to infection. If you are someone who goes on the dark web and run sketchy .exe's and scripts. You are pretty much guaranteed to get infected. I am not here to list of the infinite numbers of pros and cons of this vs Windows. If you are looking for an OS that isn't Windows in Microsoft's clutches but feels and looks like Windows, here you go.

Just to demonstrate that it can easily handle some Windows software without fuss due to the tight WINE integration with the rest of the system which is kinda the point of it. This is a Windows lookalike OS, after all. And WINE can be tough to set up properly sometimes so having it working nicely from the get go is a plus.

@@DawnTreader777I was thinking more in the terms of less literate people that want to get into Linux but it always looked to daunting. And the fact that they can "seamlessly" install apps they are already accustomed to will break the ice for less gamer oriented users.

Eh-if it were possible to run games with anti-cheat or a facet client on it, then there would be no problems, but this is an ordinary Linux very similar to Windows 11, but the crutches with wine are the same!!So, only Windows so far, unfortunately.

It's the right direction. Once you can install pretty much all the windows apps on it and make it fluid, then Linux will take off. WINE has come a long way.

Does it have a My Computer, from which I can open, say, my D drive, and pull stuff to F drive? Does it use Windows drive formats? No point in making it look like Windows if there's still hamster wheels under the hood... And can I, at last, replace the Recycle Bin icon and name to, say, The Cornfield? That would be good-- REAL good!

Dell was PAID ~US$30 per PC by Microsoft to ship out their PCs with MS Windows. I'd have thought most other Mass PC Brands such as HP/Lenovo/ACER/etc. would have done similar deals. This was why we seldom get options for Linux but MS products alone! 🤷

@@YeeLeeHawWindows 11 can be used for free. Just has an Unactivated water mark on the desktop and you can't customize the desktop and colors but it's 100% usable.
