The fact Windows XP slowly turns grey always unnerved me as a kid. It felt like I was doing something wrong just by turning off the computer.

Me too 😮😅😂 In fact it unnerved me even more since I was going to shutdown the computer… In fact I was scared by the shutdown sound… I still don’t know why today, but the sequence of these 4 notes made me jump since my early childhood… It still jumpscares me today when I don’t expect to hear it… 😂😂

Just remembered what I missed from XP. Colors truly helped: - yellow was for sleep mode - red for shutting off - green for restart and I didn't have to read it, just instant press, but now I have to READ the text before pressing, lol. Bring back colors, Gates!

Actually, "Stand By" can even be orange if hibernation is enabled which is yellow in any case.

Window XP was a blessing! I can’t remember a single problem I had using it. Compared to 98se and “ME” which gave me nail biting blue screens of death and freezes ups and lost DLL files

This isnt a CRT monitor, CRT monitors flicker when recorded by a camera. This is a early LCD screen.

I have never understood people saying things like "I miss Windows XP" or "I wish they would bring XP back." Where did it go? It isn't gone. You can still use it to this day perfectly fine for most things, there is no reason to miss it. Buy yourself a $20 laptop and load up XP on it.

ah the cambridge soundworks speakers, one of the best sets of pc speakers i ever owned, survived 3 further computers after the 486 SX. 66mhz of pure power :-)

I'm missing old computer and old OS. They had some magic inside. Nowadays it's everything too simple: you just turn on a computer or a phone and use it. I liked to set up everything. I started with DOS. But it isn't the only problem. Not always, but I loved to wait the calculator doing something and listening to the noise of such an elaboration, which is a hdd noise or better a 1,44" floppy sound. Miss all of it 😭

Here is a cool trick for xp users: go on to a newer computer and get a usb flash drive and download windows xp embedded theme off the internet and put it on to your usb drive and then plug it in to the windows xp pc or laptop and open the theme and hit ok and enjoy 👍

I remember having my compaq presario, one of the earlier gen models and it coming with the logitech quick cam, like the second gen model lol, pressing record, pointing it outside the window, running out to take basketball shots and then running back in to watch myself on recording 😂😂😂

I love old software / systems like WIN31, WIN NT, W95, 98 etc. But when XP came out, it was like WIN98 smoothed and polished. It feels so neat and nice. Im still using it on my old PCs and laptops. Im coding my games and my other stuff on it. I love it.

Windows XP was compatible with every program I wanted to use. Windows 7 stopped being as compatible, Windows 10 is even less compatible and forget about Windows 11. Windows XP didn't hide backups of backups of junk we didn't need to keep, unlike Windows 10. I wrote myself instructions of how to do everything in Windows XP. These days Microstuffed keep changing parts of the operating system with pointless monthly updates (or more often), so one way of doing something could be different the next month.
