House of The Dragon is a show to those who love this franchise(like me), I Will Watch With a Big smile in The face, because I CARE about that World, because a fanfic(Game Of Thrones) is small compare to The WHOLE Ice and fire universe.

I would say 4 seasons… 5 is where the really bad writing started to really show. That and I hated what they did to Dorne.

I can definitely see what you are saying for sure. And yes A Dance with Dragons for me was difficult to get through. Basically no plot advancement and it felt like he was just running in place

Sorry but I'm really glad he published Fire and Blood. It wasn't really a difficult task since it was already half written and rest was easy to make up. Twow is an absolutely different thing, and a difficult one.

Also he has so much money there is no incentive to finish it

@@turtleanton6539 No I do not think that is true. It has more to do with his inability to get to the point. Which was evident in books 4 and 5, which has little happen to move the plot forward. A story can get too big to finish, and that is what happened here. I think he knows it hence why it’s been 10yrs+ since book 5.

Hey Karl.. yeah it’s really sad. It really is a wonderful and unique world, but the way it is dealt with the constant delays and being force fed books literally no one asked for just has turned us all off.

I have a tepid small desire to see House of the Dragon. As I listened to the audiobooks of The Rogue Prince and The Princess and the Queen. I love the tale just with that conclusion of the show… it killed most of my interest.

I don’t think that is exactly accurate… George’s writing style I think has more to do with it. It’s gotten so big that it’s gotten away from him. He won’t be able to finish it. I would say the role the show played was taking up his time, and giving him even less incentive.

That’s true, and herein lies the problem. George needs to be passionate about what he’s doing and the passion for ASOIAF expired long ago. He clearly doesn’t like being forced to do anything. He wants to write whatever is interesting him at the time.

Yup! I couldn’t agree more! ADWD was really hard for me to get through… it was almost as if he were just writing more for the sake of it and didn’t really know where he wanted to go.

@@Dante19883 Yeah. Take Tolkien for example. The depth and richness was there but it did not strangle the plots or the sub plots. It was a neatly kept garden. Another example is Dune, it’s just as well kept. That is until you reach his son’s material. Then you can ignore it. Details and depth are great but there comes a point where you have to shear. Otherwise the plants start choking the path, other plants, and etc. If you asked me he should have paired down the extemporaneous tales and put them out as side stories. I am surprised he does not have a more active editor.

Yup for sure! He is a great author, but I think you are right… the game of thrones party is done and I don’t think it will ever rise to the same heights in popularity again.

You are totally right Ben! People were just upset because the show was ending, but you are totally right. It was in Daenaerys DNA to go crazy. It’s really a message that says “inbreeding is bad” lmao it was a very George RR ending at the end of the day. I though Bran was a good choice for the throne as he ascended past human wants and needs.

@@Dante19883 Yeah, it wasn't a climactic conclusion but all the characters got very GM style of resolutions. I really didn't understand what else people expected. Weren't they paying attention to everything leading up to that point??

I just really want to see how he wraps up the plots that didn’t appear in the show. So much is happening in the books that didn’t happen in the show

Excellent point my friend. Each one of his books could have easily been split into two. As a matter of fact, certain releases of the novels do split up storm of swords and a dance with dragons into two books. I’m sorry, once a book nears 200k words, it’s time to think up splitting them up to avoid reader fatigue lol

I couldn’t agree more! I really do think he will finish wins eventually. It probably will take him another five years, but eventually I think it will calm. The seventh book though, you are totally right. I really hope he passes on his plans for the seventh book to some of his assistance or other authors that are in his circle so someone can finish the story for him when he dies

I also find it funny how the media and people in George’s circle keeps saying that he is in robust health. I’m sorry, but the man is over 70 years old now and he is obese. There is no way that a man with that profile can be totally healthy. I work in healthcare, and patients like him are never in perfect health

I think a better ending to the show… since they seem to have mashed Book Aegon into Jon’s arc… Also why I do not buy into R+L=J (whole mess after rereading the books). Anyway. Jon in this new bit added to him… I think Dany should have died during the King’s Landing battle. Provoking Drogon to go nuts and start torching the city. Jon afterwards has to accept his role/duty to become King. A role he does not want and being broken, much like Aegon III.

Yes, I’ll admit that the treatment he is getting online from fans is ridiculous. I think it is terrible that the man can’t even post about something other than writing without being harassed. That being said, I really think it was a bad move on his part to release a book (Fire and Blood) literally no one asked for before finishing Winds. He keeps saying that Fire and Blood was an easier book to write, but the point is that all that effort was put into something else other than what his fans, editors, and publishers have been waiting for. I think at this point the best thing to do would be to contract Neil Gaiman to finish the series for him, obviously with George overseeing his work.

I agree Lowell. Whatever is released next will likely do okay just because George is a household name, but I don’t think this series will ever rise to the same heights it did in the last decade.

I never say that game of thrones is dead, the whole point of the video was to show how frustrated asoiaf and how upset people are with the constant delays in completing the series. The exact same logic you employ with your argument of GOT can be applied to Star Wars as well. I don’t know why you are so fixated on Star Wars when I literally just mentioned it once in the video, but since you mention it, it seems like you are just hopping on the “Star Wars sucks” trend. I’ll admit, I didn’t like the sequels, but there has been a lot of content released since the sequels that has renewed my hope in Star Wars. The Mandalorian, Jedi fallen order.. dozens of novels, Star Wars marvel comics… there is a lot of great Star Wars stuff out there. Star Wars is not dead. Game of thrones is not dead. But as you have shown with your comment, you can be a fan of something and be frustrated with how it is being handled. I find Star Wars to be slowly redeeming itself… George has a way to go before he does right by his fans… releasing winds would be a great start

You’re totally right… that’s why he needs to have someone ghost write the final book. I know he gets offended when people say he will die before it gets done, but it’s true. Let’s look at the facts… he’s 73 years old, and he is obese. I’m sure he will get winds done within the next 5 yrs or so, but you can forget a dream of spring. At this pace he would be well into his 90s before it gets done… average life expectancy in the US for a male is around 76-78 yrs old. At the end… it’s not looking good. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Pay Neil Gaiman to finish the series.

Yeah, I didn’t peg her as the megalomaniac, but I was wondering if she would eventually lose it as she came from a line of inbred psychopaths. And yes, it always bothers me how the show had to one up the books in shock value… I thought the stabbing of a pregnant woman at the red wedding in the show was going a bit too far for my taste. That never happened in the books
