Chasing the 38kn record of the fastest foiler Nicolas Goyard. Still behind but getting closer and closer. That day I had a topspeed of almost 34kn (62.5 km/h) wich ended up in some funny crashes. Feeling much better on the small wing in highwinds, found a good backwing trim now wich pushes my board a bit down. Really need some flat water to go faster. Super hard to control in this Ammersee chopp.
Sitting in 5th position with this session in the GPS-Worldranking now, super happy about that.
Speedfoiling is addictive and sooo much fun. Sometimes, out of nothing, that horse is still going crazy -- wipeout!

Congrats on 34kts and 5th place in speed foiling! 🥳 That speed looks insane on the foil in those gnarly conditions. I hope you're ok after catapults. Keep pushing and take care 🤙

Super impressed with your ability to go for it, even if you know you'll crash. Absolutely fearless! Good sound in the first catapult. It looks to me that you sail with a lot of back foot pressure, and I then assume you have very little angle on the back wing. I find it more scary to go fast with such trim, because the board have a tendency to touch the water in every gusts. But still, you are 5 knots faster than me, so apparently you are on to something.

Nice Andy, looked pretty fresh there to be carrying that sail. Think I'd already be sh*tting myself with 6.2 there! Managed just over 27knts on the foli so far and that felt lively.

Hey Andy, It's 4am here in Canada and came across your newest video, ( I knew I was up this early for something :-) . I haven't tried foiling yet but plan to next year. I have a big slalom board( Isonic 136) and was wondering what a dedicated slalom board, like your large 140 JP) would be like with the same foil? Ever done any comparisons like that?

Great video, Andy! I seriously need to try foiling. I have an early 2000’s Starboard F155 Formula board with a deep tuttle box. Could I use it for foiling? A new JP slalom slalom foil board is a little beyond the budget😎

Tolle Aufnahmen. Ich bin selber WingSurfer-/foiler. Hast du hinsichtlich Sturz eigentlich auch Manschetten vor dem Foil/Mast? Ich krieg das aus dem Kopf nur schwer raus...

it seems it not so easy to go fast windfoiling ; wingfoiling is fun (I just begin), but I feel free strapless, falls are less violent (gear is not damaged, and body is not hurt too much 😎)

Great speed but looked scary! There has to be a better foil system for windsurfing than using the tuttlebox.

How is that board´s nose still in one piece after those crashes? Serious question, with my board the nose gets swiss-cheesed after much lighter wipeouts

I think Andy always catapults so hard, that the noose of the board is far under water when the mast hits the water. So just catapult harder:)

@@AndyLaufer I'm in the process of building something and unfortunately it has to also be capable of foiling. So I have a question if you would give me your opinion. There are points where a fin is more efficient than the foiler - low wind and high wind. Do you have a reasonable guess at those windspeeds?

Foils are much more efficient, especially in lightwinds up to 18 knots. Then the fin gets fastwr and faster - at the moment. Foils will get much faster in future. I think that the 40kn barrier will be broken soon this year by Nicolas Goyard. We will see...

By the way, for foils to get anywhere near fin boards the foils would have be much smaller and they would need to be towed as with surfboards. Once up to enough speed where the smaller foil can support the board, then higher speeds will be achieved. Though I doubt they can ever be faster than a fin.
