Antiepileptics- Structure and mechanism

Can we guess mechanism & clinical use of an antiepileptic by knowing its structural features? Even not apt for all the drugs in this category but still with in the I generation, we can find a beautiful relation between drug, structure, its mechanism and in which type of epilepsy it can be used.

Dates can increase epilepsy as they contain High Potassium. I have experienced this practically. Is this not potassium channel opener?
