dartsreviewchannel.com/ Hey Darts Nutz here is a video I have been working on for some time now, a comparison video of all the Winmau Blade 6 series dartboards with the previous Blade 5 Dual Core added too! I actually started this not long after the new Blade 6 boards first came out but I re-done the intro a number of times and also re-started some of the tests due to new ideas for testing and the new PDC logoed B6TC that came out.
Needless to say its been a long video to complete and a fairly expensive one too! Its a long video to watch but I think there is a lot of info to take in so I hope you find it useful, the results were a littel surprising to me and I also hope you like the new way I found to test the boards firmness.

Going above and beyond again with your review. This is the most comprehensive board review and testing I've ever seen. I'm don't own Winmau boards (currently using Gladiator 3+) but it is super helpful to so many people the lengths that you go to help us make our decisions. Completely agree to the conclusion, played the B6TC and it´s a nice board, but rather soft. The B6DC in my opinion has the best relation between price and durability, even surpasses the Bandit Duro, mainly because the wiring does stay where it belongs for far longer. For me, B6DC is the best board available atm. Thanks for taking the effort to test all these boards upon you, big kudos for backing it up with hard data. I you weren´t the best darts review channel already, you´d be it after this test, Darren.

Really appreciate the time and effort you took creating this review and doing all the testing. Still pounding away on a wire board with staples including the Red Bull. Playing league and other competitions on newer boards so much more fun. Saving up my pennies to buy one of the newer Technologies. Keep up on your great work!

Fascinating review Darren and really interesting facts and figures between each board. I got one of the 1st B6TC before the pdc announcement and initially I though it was as hard as nails as my darts were not penetrating the way they should have been. Maybe it was just a hard board but I got the B6TC PDC logo board and it definitely is softer.

Thanks David! Also there is a bit of inconsistency with boards and they can be affected by environmental conditions so its hard to know if the board you had was hard due to that but most people have said the B6's especially the B6TC is very soft :)

Thank you for going through all those tests for us. It's very surprising to see some of the results there. I've had a B6 DC since Xmas and I love it, but it is very firm on the bull though. I agree that the TC is very soft, my dad has it and the darts sit in a bit too much. Great video 👍🏼🎯

Really good work on reviewing the boards. Still using the Blade 5 DC. I have recently bought the Shot Warrior Outlaw and I've just ordered the Target Aspar board. I played on the Target Aspar the other week & really liked it. Thanks Darren 😁

Thanks mate! I dont mind the Aspar, it looks awful after use as it does not heal so great but its quite firm and consistent with its firmness so I think will last well :)

Very in depth review Dazza. The old Blade 4 is the best board in my opinion for holding up but I was daft and went for a triple core. Now I’ve got textured points it’s tearing it to shreds

Watching it late, but I am very grateful for your hard work making this video. It has been very useful and after considering all the factors, I decided to buy the B6DC. The price is a fair bit lower than the B6TC's price and performance-wise it's a great board!

Very impressive Darren. What a lot of work you did to test the boards. Where I am in Canada boards are very expensive so price is always a factor for me and variety is poor. I've stuck with the Winmau single core boards up through all the versions, I'm now using a 6. Over the years I've found the boards do last longer. The old boards with round wires used to last me about 4 months but the boards since, version 4 and up, go almost a year. I use smooth points and my darts land almost perpendicular to the board so that helps make the board last.

I still have my Winmau dartboard I purchased back in 1981, and my darts I bought in 1977 at RAF Alconbury. I haven't used either one for quite a few years. I think I will dig them out of the cardboard box and put it up.

Amazing video, Darren! I have a Blade 6 TC myself and I think I prefer the softness compared to the very firm Samurai II I had before. I like how the points sit more securely in the board, so the barrels aren't dropping down after the initial hit which would sometimes happen on the Mission board. I use quite long points (40+ mm) as well, so barrels being buried right up to the sisal isn't an issue for me. All personal preference though, can understand why some people like firmer boards!

Cheers Matt! There is nothing wrong as such with the softness as you say some prefer that and the top layer is meant to be soft anyway but after use for me it just gets too soft but I also know some boards like the Samurai II are a bit too hard so its all about getting one you feel suits you best, I actually like the G3+ but also the Eclipse Ultra seems to be just the right level of firmness for me. :)

Great analysis of these boards. The B6TC is a made for TV board - it is soft to reduce fallouts/bounceouts in the professional game but the boards aren't made to last. I always think, for a home board/pub board, you want something hard that takes a long time to wear out and soften.

Used the blade 6tc since it came out. Recently, I got hold of a winmau jdc duel core as my kids both play at the local darts academy. The difference in sound is astonishing. The jdc board is much quieter than the triple core.

Unicorn Eclipse Ultra has the best numbers ring. I bought one and slapped it on my Blade 6 DC. Looks great! Best of both worlds IMO.

I actually quite like the Ultra board, I think it has the right level of firmness for me, looks neat but even though it does not heal as good as the Blades it improves a bit with use.

Massive and thorough test Darren. Only, i might have missed something but in my mind i can't help thinking, you speak of firmness when the dart go's in to the board, me i'm thinking, what pressure, be it backwards, would it take to get the darts out the board again, cause i feel like that is the most important issue for it to be a good board. My logic telles me, its not because a dart go's deeper in to the board, it sits really firm in the board by definition. Maybe i'm looking at it all wrong, but than again, I wonder... Still a great review though!

Been playing my B6TC for 2 years now, regularly turning it, it has held up very well. Not even close to getting it replaced and yes, it gets plenty of playing time. I think most dartboards are like ornaments, not aesthetically pleasing if the logos aren’t lined up so they aren’t turned. 😉

The bull has held up well too, playing cricket for warm ups. Maybe they’ve got ‘softer’ since but so far on mine, I’m still very pleased with it.

I think boards are just too inconsistent really, its hard to say one is better than the other when one batch could be better than another batch. I think the B6 heals well enough and stays looking decent but its still a bit softer than I would prefer, but good to hear your happy with it :)

Thanks mate, I think the B6DC was a little quieter but there is not a huge difference, you can make a board more quiet in other ways though, like putting sound board at the back, or thick foam etc

Thanks! The Aspar is a firm board but it does not heal well, mine looks awful but I actually prefer throwing at it due to the firmness. So its all about the type of board you prefer really :)

Hi Darren, great test ! But I am wondering… does a firmier board is better than a soft one? the Blade6TC is made to be softer so when the dart hits it, it spread more easily, so deeper penetration but the base is more dense. You might not need a point so rough to hold the dart in the board since penetration is deeper. Nice reviews and test again , Happy darting :)

Thanks! Yes I think that is the reason behind it, as I think I probably mentioned in the review of the B6TC but its also why I did the firmness test at 10mm and 15mm. I think a lot depends on the person throwing too, how hard they throw, how heavy their darts are, how long the points are etc. The softer upper layer is no doubt why the Blade 6 DC and TC heal well and look good but for me it just gets too soft with use, but its why I say boards are often like darts in that one person will prefer a certain board over another for what ever reason, some like the softness and some dont.

I just got a winmau blade 6 dual core.. it's a really nice board but is soft and I had to repoint my darts to long 42 mm points no issues with sinking to the barrel now lol

I have triple core wouldn't swap it for anything else , firm or soft it will last a longer period of time

I just use the normal blade 5 and now normal blade 6. Lasts me bout 6 months before I need new, standard boards work!

Well all boards work really, but some people may not like soft boards and for me the B6's especially the B6TC are way too soft. :)

Atm using Blade 6 Dc on Mission Torus clamp , for me great board , using the same board over 1.5 year , soon will be 2 years , still in good condition .

If there is anybody out there that’s got the blade 6 carbon and your not keen on the number ring (like I wasn’t) but really liked the look of the unicorn eclipse ultra sand the top layer of grey off and spray paint it white it looks much better I every went around the actual ring with a fine paint brush and black paint

Yes some do like a soft board, in the end as long as you are happy with it that is all that matters :)

As mentioned at the end I intend to do the same again with the boards I have reviewed already, but just takes time and money so not sure how soon that will happen, but now I have a way to reliably test the firmness and have a method I think it will be good to test as many as I can in the same way :)

I had a couple of friends that tried out the Blade 6 dual core and triple core boards and both were initially fairly impressed, but then told me to absolutely NOT consider buying either of them over a Blade 5 dual core if I could find one, as they said they were too soft and got softer after a couple of weeks. I'm hearing a fairly similar feeling online from people that have used them a lot, but this seems contrary to what you're saying here in the video, so now I'm somewhat torn. EDIT: I'm dumb and didn't watch the whole vid...disregard this comment.

Did you watch it all and listen carefully? I said from the very beginning when I first reviewed the B6TC that it was way too soft and got even softer. I never had the normal Blade 6 or Blade 6 Dual Core until I got them to make this video, so it took a while to see how they compare, that was the whole point of this video though to see if what people were saying was right. As shown in video the B6DC was initially firmer than the others but with the wear test it lost a lot of that firmness quickly. Overall it still remained a little firmer than the B6 which was surprising but the B6TC was super soft. The B5DC as shown in video performed best on wear test as it came out firmer than the others which is why I said at the end if you can still find a B5DC get that, but if you really must have a Blade 6 then the B6DC is probably the best of the three Blade 6 boards. :)

Cheers for the detailed reply though, I'll definitely grab the last couple of Blade 5 DC from my local darts shop and that should last me until Winmau maybe make some adjustments for their next line. 😉

Watching The Masters in Bahrain it was interesting to see that hardly any darts on the TC was buried very deep. But most reviews keeps saying they are too soft. Are they using a different version than the rest of us?
