Enjoyed another great video! My battery door has the same problem of sticking out some. IMO the inside latch bar is too short. I'll be fabricating a new bar that is longer so it makes contact where is should. My awning cleared the door OK, but I adjusted it up more and while doing so found a loose bolt for the adjustment. As for the outside cooler DC plug coming out, try putting in a toothpick or two or three between the plug and socket. Thanks for keeping the information coming!

Did you consider the Winnebago Fuse before the EKKO? Looks like a nice alternative (at a lower cost).
@ekkonesters599
@ekkonesters599 Жыл бұрын
We considered several vehicles. Including many of the Mercedes Sprinter chassis options. The thing that we ran into his in our neighborhood our driveway is just a tiny bit over 22 feet. So we need to be able to squeeze that in without encroaching into the sidewalk Given the restricted space we ended up going with the EKKO. There are definitely some rigs out there that are laid out very well. My favorite is the PALMO Heimir out of Germany. If you get a chance KZfaq or Google a few of those are pretty impressive. It also sheds some light on where Winnebago Was more than likely inspired in many respect. Thanks for checking out our channel and leaving some feedback, and a comment. It definitely helps us out and we’re grateful for the time that you take to follow along. Have a great day.
@johnwilliamson9453
@johnwilliamson9453 Жыл бұрын
@@ekkonesters599 Well 2 feet is 2 feet, and given that restriction, I can see you made a good choice. The Fuse being 24’ isn’t a problem for us, and it does have a great layout. What is a problem is the EKKO price gouging and restricted production, hence forcing me to look for alternatives.

Totally love your videos… However, it makes me wonder when the price of these things will ever come down. While everyone else is getting hung with excess inventory now that the big boom is fading, Ekko seems to be the one champion that’s gaining in popularity. That said, I believe, this coach is worth $160,000 not $200+. Hoping these things will come down. I guess a question I might ask you is whether you think competitors will come out with something as clever given that they are all now stuck with a lot of inventory of rigs that won’t sell. Anyway, keep up the great work.

Hello, thanks for checking out our latest video. Some good points and questions for sure. I agree there was a surge (Supply/demand and Covid). I recall when we first started our search, it was nearly impossible to find one. Then there was the recall delay. My understanding is the Ford Chassis (and other chassis manufacturers alike) increased their prices resulting in total price increase. Which played a role in pricing. As for stabilizing price, I noticed a couple things happening (observed through FB comments), some people are scoring fair details around the 168K-175K mark. While others have paid more. I’m not sure what the market will hold, but indefinitely would ease away from the 200k mark at this point. Other manufactures following suit, I’m not sure. I think the custom Van Builders will continue with the builds and utilize the platforms they currently have. In Germany, there is the Palmo HYMER Mercedes that is amazing. I believe Winnebago “adopted” a lot of ideas from them. Especially the bathroom and sleeping quarters concept. Lastly, Winnebago seams to have landed a great niche market for this one. Comforts of a class C but mobility and city friendliness of a class B. Thanks again for watching our channel.
@woodybailey
@woodybailey Жыл бұрын
@@ekkonesters599 Love your channel for insight and content. Totally agree on the HYMER and actually allot of Euro models... agree it looks like Winnebago "borrowed" a fair amount.. .but darn WHY CAN"T THE REST OF THE INDUSTRY!!??. While other RVs may be dropping in price, I doubt the EKKO is going to get less expensive given the approx. 18 month waiting period from order date to delivery. This means used EKKOs that are available without waiting are also going to maintain their high price, i.e. pay up for a used EKKO if you don't want to wait for a new one.

Thank you for taking time to watch our channel and leave a comment. In respect to the quality. I’m very confident in the Ford Chassis and the AWD system. The coach build like anything that’s out there will need maintenance and sometimes general modifications that suit your comforts. Mostly little things like towel holders, organizers, etc. There are some recalls that Winnebago has issued and are being worked through. The newer model years continue to improve. Winnebago has a long history of producing RVs and has weathered the storms over the years probably better then most other RV manufacturers. I’d recommend dealer research and winding one that is close to your home location. This will make warrant work and other things more convenient. If you have other thoughts or specific questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you for following our channel.

@@ekkonesters599 House quality is my main concern as well. A friend bought one two years ago and he said he spent the first year fixing all the crappy production assembly and changing out all cheap parts. IE, pop rivets holding the door on...come on now. That said, the EKKO layout is superb. The bedroom is a huge plus. The kitchen...not so much. The other plus is the chassis. I love my STO LT on the Transit. I would never trust the Mercedes with all the negative feedback. Thanks for your candid exploration into the guts of the EKKO.

Question: if you were to leave your camper and your dog inside, I assume you could run the AC off your generator?? If that is true, how long could you let it run? ….. similar question: if you’re Boondocking in a warm climate, will your AC run all night off your generator, or batteries/solar? By my questions you can tell I’m new to the RV world. I’m thinking I start with a B+ RV and then move up gradually it’s just me and my pup. Still trying to figure out if I want to sell my home and go full-time or try to retain a homebase?. right Do you can consider your rig a B+ or a C class? Thanks, DR

@ekkonesters599 10 ай бұрын
Stephen, I'd like to express my gratitude for tuning in to our channel. I'd like to address each of your thoughts and concerns. To begin, the EKKO is furnished with two 20lb propane tanks, which provide a substantial propane supply. This ample reserve is particularly efficient due to the EKKO's exceptional insulation and the effectiveness of its systems, such as the Truma Heating Vario system and Truma AquaGo. Here are a few examples regarding the Truma Aqua Go water heating system: If you were to indulge in a hot, 20-minute shower every day, it would be almost a month before you needed to refill your 20lb propane tank, based on Trumas example of use. This impressive efficiency arises from the fact that an instant water heater only heats the water you need, utilizing a mixing vessel. This stands in contrast to traditional water heaters, which maintain a large tank of hot water at all times. Regarding the heating system, Winnebago conducted thorough research and partnered with Truma, a venerable company with over 70 years of experience in heating and cooling systems. The system is remarkably efficient, with gas consumption rates of 90g/h and 190g/h. Our personal experiences while camping in temperatures ranging from -6°F to the mid-30s demonstrate the system's efficiency. We can comfortably use the Boost function to heat the EKKO to 73 degrees (our temperature choice) as the system will max out at 86 degrees) sustaining that temperature throughout the night and into the next day. Additionally, we can cook three meals on our stove or campfire, enjoy an evening with our 50K BTU Trail Fire Grill for a couple of hours, and the LP tank remains far from empty. To our understanding, the heater is approximately rated at 11,500 BTU. Assuming this is accurate and using the example of a 50K BTU fire pit connected to a 20lb LP tank, which is generally considered to run for 6-8 hours at a minimum, we estimate the heater can run for approximately 35 hours or more. This is a very conservative estimate considering the Truma Heater's efficiency and the EKKO's excellent insulation, especially when using the thermal blanket to isolate the Ford cab. As for your reference to "No Propane Burners," I apologize for any confusion. We have two burners inside the unit and two burners outside the unit. Regarding the AC system, I'm uncertain which specific system you may be referring to as not accommodating a generator's draw. However, we ran our AC unit for 8 hours non-stop in Idaho, and it had no discernible impact on the generator. The generator we utilize is the Cummins Onan 2800i, a nationally park-approved generator. This is a Winnebago Option. Also, keep in mind the efficiency of the generator and it draws directly from the vehicle gas holding tank. We've found that our 455 watts of solar power and a single Lithium battery (Lithionics) serve us well. For example, we run the microwave, my wife uses her hair dryer, and we operate a 1500-watt water percolator without issues. When the sun is shining, the unit can effectively manage its power. The cassette toilet has worked well for us during boon-docking which we do a lot more than our channel has provided content to. It has a five-gallon capacity, and if you don't fill it up with water after each use, it can hold a substantial amount of fluid. As for "number 2 use," it varies from person to person, but we've found it to be accommodating. Of course, if there are concerns about exceeding the 5-gallon limit of the cassette toilet, it's reasonable and acceptable to follow the US Forest Service guidelines for disposing of human waste, known as the "cathole method. If no facilities are available, and packing out your waste is impractical, you can dig a hole 6 to 8 inches deep at least 200 feet from running water, camp, trails, and drainages". You can verify this info with the US Forest Service. In summary, we are genuinely pleased with the Winnebago EKKO and all its features. While it's natural to desire more, for our needs and considering Winnebago's intentions for this unit in terms of size and demographics, it truly delivers on all fronts and more. I hope this helps shed some perspective on what we find enjoyable from our use. Take care and thanks for sharing.

Looked at ekko 22AP in Hershey show , do you think it would be a suitable Size for my wife and I to bring 2 young grandchildren along on short 4 day trips
@ekkonesters599
@ekkonesters599 11 ай бұрын
Hello Richard, Thats a great question. Here are my thoughts from owning one. If the AP is the pop top, which by definition is, you all would love it. Another EKKO owner I know that's a KZfaqr guy, Camillo Pineda @acamilop, has a POP Top and some kids and they go every where. So you'd be great. If its a non pop top, then here is my thoughts. If the grandkids are pretty young and small, you could make up the full size bed in the back and it would probably work, but cozy for sure. The other idea would be to drop the dinette table down and have them sleep on the floor just in front of the dinette bench seat. There would be plenty of width and length. You would just want to get a blow up mattress or some blankets to comfort the floor. The front seats spin around so for meals you all would enjoy sitting with each other. Of course if the weather is great, eating outside is the best. Thanks for joining us and subscribing. We are growing our channel and your views and comments are appreciated and help us out. Let me know if you have other questions.

Are people paying MSRP for these because you have to order and not on lot showing 25-30% discount off MSRP
@ekkonesters599
@ekkonesters599 Жыл бұрын
It honestly ranges depending on the dealers mark up/overhead requirements. I know some dealers sell at MSRP and then there are some that discount as well. If you go to FB group “Winnebago EKKO Free Speech” there is an admin named James that works for a dealer in Texas he may be able to provide some insight. I also know about a week ago he had one available. If you do order on and put down your deposit make sure you do your research and Rey and go with a dealer that you will have future access to. It helps when it comes to warranty work. All Winnebago Authorized Dealers are suppose to stand behind the product but prioritize based on their customers (my experience only). I hope this helps.

what is the MPG?

Good question. It honestly varies, but I’ll give you the break down as best I can. Decent highway conditions no cross winds or head winds. Speed between 60-65 mph RPMs around 1600, we can get 15-17 mpg. Add an include under same conditions can drop to 11-12 mpg. Add a hill to climb same conditions increased rpm’s based on demand for climbing then your at 9-10 mpg. Cruising with cruise control will help as well. 75 mph will drop each category by a couple MPG. But I’d your heavy footed and just going at it then probably 10 on average.

Your presentation skills need a lot of work. I would recommend taking some classes.
