Great details that none of the other walkthroughs have. Only from an experienced owner. We have a 59PX and this is the most insightful video series to date!

This isn't the first time I've heard about some Winnebago quality control ("fit and finish", as you say) issues. It does give me pause and wonder about buying one.

I was hoping you would show the sofa bed. The attention to the finish or lack thereof is a big disappointment. When people spend 100 G for a vehicle we should get better. Thanks for sharing.

You didn't go over the most important part.....how is it sleeping on that sofa bed? people may want to consider the murphy style over the sofa for comfort.

We actually sold our Solis a few months ago. We just weren't using it enough in the winter to justify having such an expensive vehicle sitting around.

This is a helpful video, thanks for posting it. I have a couple of questions. I like the rear sofa option for additional passenger options for around town, going to baseball games with the kids, etc. how is the comfort of the two seats right behind the driver? In the videos they seem quite narrow and very upright. Also, is there a city water hookup option or only to fill the tank? If the city water hookup is in that box inside the rear doors, does that mean that the doors have to be open in order to use pressurized water?
@bensnyder2057
@bensnyder2057 3 жыл бұрын
The passenger seats immediately behind the driver's seat are not very comfortable (as described by my 6 and 8 y/o kids), primarily because they don't recline and are mostly straight up. That being said, we've done multiple 4+ hour drives and they deal just fine. My daughter has gone to the back sofa for more comfort and to have somewhere to rest her head (against the side of the van). Re: city water, yes that can be done via the hookup in the rear but the doors need to remain open. The Solis is more of a boondocking setup than a sit-in-place-camper with hookups.

Very helpful to see the version with the rear sofa. It looks like the two seatbelted areas are on the two ends. The foot room looks tight in the video. Would it be comfortable for 2 adults riding on that rear bench? Thanks for sharing your first hand experience.
@bensnyder2057
@bensnyder2057 3 жыл бұрын
I think the foot room is certainly tight, though legs can be put on a slant to position them into the galley. The benefit of the rear seating, however, is that it's easier for kids or adults to sleep as they can res their heads on the side of the van. The two mid passenger seats are less comfortable in this regard.

Nice real world review, thanks. You're pretty tall, does you head touch the ceiling when standing inside the van and how's the shower for tall people? I'm 6' 3" so I'm right at that max internal hight limit.
@bensnyder2057
@bensnyder2057 4 жыл бұрын
I haven't had any ceiling issues with my height nice to be able to stand up in the pop section. I've also not exactly stood in the shower yet (we use it more for storage) however, I think it would be a tight fit for people of our size.

Hi Ben, Thx for the excellent walk thru. On the space under the sofa what is the measurement from the vent on the side of Nautilus for the width to the side of the lower cabinet where the fuse box is mounted. Is it 30"? And what is the height from the flooring to the bottom side of the sofa? Is it 10"? Trying to understand the length x width x height of that space under the sofa. Have a piece of gear trying to figure out if it will fit there. No units at dealers to check out. On the spare tire kit, hear you no spare, but is there a lug wrench still in the spare tire kit. Again thx very much for posting that informative video. I wish you were in charge of Winnebago quality control :-) Happy Trails, Carl

Hi Ben, question for you. Some people have mentioned that you can run the front AC from the car. Have you tried doing this on hot days to help? Maybe it's only when the engine is running. but the "person on the internet" didn't make a distinction.
@bensnyder2057
@bensnyder2057 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Erik, a car’s AC cannot run without the motor running. We never had issues with heat, though we also didn’t use the Solis on extremely hot nights. On warmer nights we were fine with the fan and cross breeze.

Any chance you would be willing to measure the distance (inch or mm) between to the two metal posts/poles/sticks of the front seat headrests? I am planning to rent one of these and want to get an iPad mount that attaches to those two metal sticks of the front seat head rest but need to know the approximate distance between them (it comes in different sizes for different vehicles). Would be super grateful if possible, thanks!

@@bensnyder2057 There's some good info on the FB group "Winnebago Solis Owners and Wannabes." A few folks have run into solar charging issues and found the wiring to be wrong and for some it has been an easy fix. If you join that group, you can search for solar.

Hi, can you show or tell us about the leg room in front of the couch in the back. I heard that the sides don't have much leg room. Thanks.
@bensnyder2057
@bensnyder2057 2 жыл бұрын
We actually sold the Solis last month! But, I can tell you that you are correct, there is not a lot of legroom on the sides where your legs hit the kitchen cabinets and/or the bathroom wall. However, we have carried adult passengers in the rear and there weren't many complaints. I believe they were able to make due by putting their legs on a - still convenient - angle.

I was serious consider solis but 59p is just to short and no AC. And when they came out with 59px doesn’t seem they offer sofa in the back only Murphy bed which I hate it cover half of the van. That when I looked and bought Thor tellaro 20AT which also pop top. I love the cherry red but had to live with charcoal with my tellaro. And over all I have same minor finish issues here and there just like your winniebago which really irritates you how much you spent on a RV and even minor stuff just really sucks. How long you own your RV? I got my over a month ago with all little things it really a joy and freedom been able to take family out. Thank for the video!
@bensnyder2057
@bensnyder2057 3 жыл бұрын
We've had it just over a month as well. The murphy bed was also a less desirable option for us. The lack of an AC unit might be an issue, though we haven't yet camped in the high heat of summer, that being said, we've camped plenty in tents in high heat and I'm confident we can get good air flow in the Solis. If people keep buying them with this level of fit and finish, they'll keep releasing them with little issues. As a side note, we picked an RV over a cabin in order to see more geographic areas and cities so also enjoy the expanded freedom (my only regret is the depreciation of a vehicle vs a cabin).

Pro and con cabin u are stationed unless you near a lake and snow in winter. I wife wasn’t sure about RV as we never driven one before but after our first camp out is actually at a campground and been driven places we all agreed it is a right investment even though like you said it only depreciate in value but family have wonderful time!. What state u from just curious.
