16 күн бұрынIt's time for another eventing vlog! Pre-warning you all that I have been rather ill, so I'm afraid I've still got a bit of a croaky voice and there will be the odd cough every now and then.
Enough of the boring stuff, let's celebrate Winnie stepping up a level in eventing. This is her first 80cm class after her two runs at 70cm. As always, I like to produce my horses slowly to ensure they are really confident before they step up. Winnie proved she was more than ready for this bigger class by bringing home a top 10 placing. There were, of course, a few hiccups along the way, including a costly mistake in the showjumping and a hesitation on the cross country, but thankfully it all worked out. I hope you enjoy watching, and I can't wait to get Winnie out to the next event!

I love all the love for Bronwen (the fab xc commentator/controller) in the comments! She's one of the best at picking up little details about partnerships and pronouncing the Irish/Welsh names that the rest of us mere mortals struggle with. Very honoured to say that I get to work with her ❤

U guys have progressed soooo much!!! Winne is such a star even from such a young age, u have produced her very well, and we really appreciate how dedicated u are for pushing past ur cold for us and this event. U are an amazing horsewoman, because u recognize ur mistakes, never blame them on Winne and are always so kind and grateful, we can genuinely see that. Keep up with the amazing work! Love from 🇺🇸

Well done Meg & Winnie. Winnie is progressing so well, with loads more confidence. I especially loved how you rode her gently & calmly through the water. Then, as soon as she clocked a fence, she was off❤ Hope you are feeling better, Meg. What a star to event (& vlog) when you were so poorly👏👏. Yes, the horse box is a great portable potty ! You'd be surprised at how hard it is to find a toilet at horse events ! miles away most times from where you park.

There's nothing worse than a summer cold. They hang on forever. And they are complicated by a high pollen count at this time of year. Take care of yourself. Considering everything, Winnie did quite well at 80 for the first time.

Winnie is a little super star sport pony coming along very nicely! I wish the best of luck to yall Meg! I think the quick stop at the water is something we can all relate to especially with the youngsters and i think you handled it lovely we cant ever expect perfection but we can always hope for the best and work through the bad its all a learning process in the end and watching you definitely inspires me and lets me know im not alone with my own challenges every rider faces throughout life!

You need a solo comb to “pull” Winnie’s mane, doesn’t hurt the ponies at all but gives the look of a pulled mane

First, no one knows about banding braids rather than thread. Second, pee anywhere you can be discrete. Third. So smart to keep Winnie at 80 but it is so darn hard because she's capable of so much more! The straightness would be a game-changer. If she concentrated bit more and straightened up she could easily do 90. But,as I said, smart to make it easier rather than harder for her. Like the dropped rail and some wobbles but darn it that pony can jump! She is rocking cross country and even with the wobble at the water she was under the the time! I was watching her galloping between fences, she really opened up and covered some ground!

Winnie shows great promise for the future, she is the most amazing colour, very unusual. How big do you think Vali will be as an adult? I heard years ago that foals are born with their legs full length but the body grows, don't know how true that is though. Be nice to Pete, he seems a really nice guy and I hope Hobbit goes to more shows, it isn't the same without her.

Well done getting throw the water, Winnie is getting in the rithem of eventing . 8th out of 29 starters. Well done and ALL the best. Take care and all the best. Just go pasties from butcher's in st just square cornwall. I just started watching this (I know, I’m late!), but had to pause to comment. Meg, EVERY equestrian has peed in their horse’s stall at a show. EVERYONE! Not sure about peeing in the trailer (“horse box” in UK speak), but I’m sure if someone is only trailering in to an event or other competition for the day, and thus has no stall at the show/event facility, they’ve peed in there. I know I’ve peed in stalls and behind shrubbery many times in my 35+ years of having horses (yes, I’m old!). But you are totally normal for peeing “in the wild” 😂

Remind Pete to thank Buffalo New York, USA for chicken wings aka Buffalo Wings. Invented in the city Buffalo, NY, named after the city. An owner of a place didn’t know what to do with his chicken wings after trimming them & wallah! Thus the Chicken Wings were born. Winnie is going to be Mega. 👍🎆
