Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 has a bigger budget, more kills, and a MUCH better execution of a slasher-fied children's property. Is the sequel to my least favorite film of 2023 improved enough to win me over?

KZfaq is a form of entertainment. What’s so strange about someone being entertained enough to make them feel better?
@darthstarch
@darthstarch 4 ай бұрын
I think CyberLance’s point is that entertainment isn’t exactly a form of mental health treatment. There are obviously many cases nowadays where entertainment can be an escapism to a point where you neglect things that are contributing to your poor mental health. The KZfaq algorithm doesn’t exactly take into account the mental health of its audience. I understand you’re trying to stick up for your fan, but I mean he obviously has a point.

Those of us who know Cody's tastes, it's absolutely crazy to hear him say that a film franchise needs to lean more towards a Freddy's Dead tone. Without having seen either of the Pooh movies, this really does seem like a franchise that needs to lean into the silly aspect of this IP.

You're a brave soul to go through this. The whole "Poohniverse" thing is just disgusting & unoriginal. Not EVERYTHING in the PD needs to have a Horror adaptation! Especially not what is suppose to be an innocent franchise & with stories that are not even connected. Plus, we already have Horror adaptations of what "Waterfluke" wants to make (not counting the Creepypasta). Pinocchio = "Pinocchio's Revenge" & "Life of P" Alice in Wonderland = The American McGee's "Alice" series. Peter Pan = "The Lost Boys" TMNT = "C.H.U.D." Sleeping Beauty = "Sun, Moon, and Talia." Thor = Some RPGs The Powerpuff Girls = "Brightburn" (loosely) & possibly a Drawn Together sketch.

2:45 I like your take on that! Because when I first heard you say they reached out to you being mature and positive, my first reaction was.. Hmm.. that's an incredibly interesting time for them to reach out to you. Just in enough time for you to watch and review their movie. I thought they might've done it as a business move. Like, "Let's get in his good graces, so maybe he'll watch the movie and review it on his channel to get more people talking about it and possibly watching it." But you're right, regardless of how you feel about them positive or negative. Sometimes, I feel you have to separate artist/creator to the art itself. While I know sometimes it can depend on circumstances.

Whether I’m right or wrong I also think that’s what happened; almost like they’re trying to fix the damage they caused with some of the creators on YT right as their film drops. I’m all for second chances but I know I’m not the only one thinking that if he didn’t accept the zoom call they’d be like “oh we tried to apologize but he bullied us and didn’t wanna hear it!” or something like that. It’s just my opinion, and I wish I felt differently but after hearing some of the things those creators (especially the composer) said, it’s hard for me personally to just immediately move past that. However, even though I watched Cody’s video last week where he explained everything, I wasn’t there in that meeting. I didn’t personally hear anything that was said, but I’ve been a viewer of Cody since 2019 and I trust him 100%. Similar to what he said, even though I’ve been a viewer for over 5 years and I only know Cody through these videos, I know his character. He always gives his honest opinion and this review is proof of that. If he says the creators are genuinely great guys that made a mistake, than that’s great for him. My opinions aside, I trust this guy more than any other reviewer on YT, and I’m excited that he worked things out with the creators yet still gave an objective review with both positive feedback and critiques. Sorry for the essay, I just needed to get this out lol

I get it. Anyone who wasn’t directly involved isn’t going to be as quickly or easily forgiving. If I got the vibe I was just being buttered up for a review I would have said so and certainly wouldn’t have reviewed the film. I don’t believe that was the motivation at all.

I agree with you Cody! Giving Pooh a voice would be so much better. A fair and mature review. I think the production team has produced a film above its budget restrictions and am very hopeful that number 3 will improve again and head towards being more camp and crazy. Some very good acting potential in the film especially from Scott as Christopher Robin and Lewis Santer as Tigger, they should really expand this character. The Poohniverse film could end up being a cult classic if they take on board your review and other similar opinions.

Your feud with the team behind this series coming to an end is crazy enough. The sequel being much better and the series moving to its team up feels like an Idocracy/Simpsons gag. The world we live in.

Does you or anyone know if there are different names to distinguish the old blue and red 3D from the 3D with the clear glasses where the movie looks real fuzzie if you take the glasses off but the 3D actually looks good and its not all blue and red ??

I had a bit of a feud with Cody awhile back too so I took a break from watching his content but now I’m back because just one or two disagreements or misunderstandings doesn’t mean a person doesn’t put out great content or adds a lot to this community. When someone reviews as many movies as Cody does, disagreements with viewers is inevitable. It is completely fine to not have the same opinions, just takes different amounts of time for each person to understand that sometimes.

I agree with that constructive criticism. The filmmakers should go in a violent, zany, and over the top direction with these messed versions of our childhood characters. Something akin to the tone of Freddy's Dead, the Leprechaun movies, and pretty much Ghoulies 3: Ghoulies Go to College. Also, I love that you referenced Pooh's "think, think, think" in the intro. 😂

I feel like they could’ve taken the movies into the realm of Terrifier. What I mean is that they could’ve taken the silliness of the original cartoon characters and hyped that up in live action and used their particular styles to just go psychotic and torture and kill people creatively with each other their own branded personalities. Example have Rabbit kill someone with carrots, Tigger could just be a total crazy character jumping around ripping people apart, and Pooh drowning people with honey or beating people to death with honey pots and eating the blood coated honey from their bodies.

Watched it last night. And as someone who watched the original through the eyes of a movie commentary on YT, I really enjoyed this one. Expecting anything than what we got, is crazy. The story and twist is darker than I expected, but it makes sense to why they look so human and probably the most interesting part of the story side of things. At the end of the day, It’s Winnie the Pooh not Scream or Halloween. I think they did well with what they had. Full ⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Kinda reminds me of the Terrifier 1 and 2 situation. The first one being cheap, not having much of a story, really just being a film for the sake of existing rather than being that good. Then the sequel comes out and is better because it has a bigger budget, more of a story, etc. That's interesting to me.
@jayblaqk

This was my exact thought as I walked out of the theater. I also swerved the first Terrifier, because I had seen enough eyebrow raising reviews to lose interest in giving the film a shot. But the sequel receiving a warmer welcome on rottentomatoes, coupled with Blood and Honey's 3 day release run in my neighborhood sparked my interest enough to grab a ticket. And, as with Terrifier 2, I am glad I did. It is a rare opportunity to experience such a significant sequel glow up in this short a period of time. It was clear that these filmmaker's actually cared about improving our movie going experience, and put in the work to do it. I don't care that the Blood and Honey and Terrifier sequels aren't on the level of Psycho, because I suspect that their creative passion for horror is on par with Hitchcock's. Both parties appreciate the genre. The movie was fun, gory, well acted & written interestingly enough to make me want to see what they have up their sleeves next. For all of those reasons, I'll grab a ticket to watch the next entries of Terrifier and the Poohniverse flicks.

I liked both terrifier movies but wasn't a fan of the knew the future or something like that with his drawings. Didn't like the magic sword aspect. Would have rather known a little more about ART. How he became the immortal monster he is. How he got the powers he has. Like being able to torture people however much and they can NOT die until he is done with him. The 1st one didn't have much of a story but the 2nd one tried too much. They over complicated the story and it came off convoluted and all over the place. A story isn't even the most important thing in a horror/slasher movie like those. The kills, the horror, the intensity of scenes is more important. There needs to be a story but it doesn't have to be a master piece and it doesn't have to me much just something simple to move the plot. I prefer the 1st terrifier story over the 2nd. Liked the 2nd movie better because the kills and everything else hut the story sucked they should have kept it simple like the 1st one or explained Arts backstory

As someone who regretted seeing the first movie in theaters, it is nice to hear that this franchise is heading in the right direction. However, I don't think I can bring myself to see this in theaters, unless someone else buys the tickets and if I already had a few swigs of liquid courage.
