Winning Teams vs Average Team - Why? What are the Differences? Review 7 8U Youth Football Teams
I just finished the Fall 2021 Season with a 4-4 and a 1st round Playoff loss. This was a tough season. Since it was so tough, I went back and reviewed 7 other 8U youth football teams that I have coached. One was a young youth football team with losses and others with Super Bowls and top 3 and 4 finishes. I compared 25 characteristics and came to a few conclusions. Key Winning vs Losing youth football teams

1) Paper Draft Picks = Great players on the field
2) Very Few Absences on Winning teams
3) RBs Have Speed - key outside speed - High FB IQ
4) Experienced RBs - 2nd season as BCs
5) 6+ great players - two-way starters, many keepers
6) Older Players within age group
7) O-line was great - focused coaching at OL
8) Strong on Defense with top skilled players LBs, CBs, DEs, DTs maybe 1 or 2 weak players on Defense
9) Few Weak Players or MPPs on team
10) Focused Coaching by All
