People are right about the contingent outcomes, but what I don't understand is why they think the onus is on the punter, and not the bookie to understand this and get the right odds. Its on the bookies to be clear about what odds they're giving for a bet someone wants to make, and the punter can decide if they want to make that bet. Being able to retroactively change odds is a poor outcome for the consumer

Nobody here is a "bookie sympathiser". Most people here (I guess) watch your clips, coz they believe bookies are rip-off merchants & you sometimes expose them. This clip, however, is different. This bloke tried to pull a scam & he got caught out. Fair play to him for trying but, in this case, the bookies got this correct. If you honestly can't see that this bloke was trying to pull a fast one, then you're not as sharp as most of us thought you were. It's so obvious.

Did you read the article? Maybe open up and think critically. We're not living in 1960 anymore. Things need to change, the bookies can prevent this and it's wrong. Ironically they do in countries like Australia, its just here they are happy for it to keep happening because it makes them more money. If they can track everything about you they can almost certainly track what bets they take. Read the article, think about it, seems so many bookie employees turned up for this one just recycling standard stuff they've been fed... it's like saying nothing should ever progress because "its always been that way" ...it's not that way now though, lots has changed, time for them to evolved and the regulator to do their job.

Agreed, however the bookie should then be making odds clear when the bet is taken. They shouldn't allow an unclear bet like this, they should be giving out odds there and then, before any money exchanges hands.

Yes I agree. At least Coral will pay out what is fair. There is no way that bet is worth 1500/1. I once remember Ladbrokes had given very good odds on a correct score bet that I knew must have been error. I placed it online and the bet won. Only once it won they voided the bet, not even offering their supposed correct odds, saying the odds were wrong. I’ve never bet with them since.

It's not that mate, it's that I want to make sure I don't get sued. Sharing some of the things I've seen would put a really big target on my back... have even had warnings and legal letters about stuff that I have covered before (obviuosly I done nothing wrong so im okay on them). Plus, some things get repetative. Must have about 15 videos worth of content on one particular operator.

The gentleman was offered £400 just before a 50/50 final and whilst cash-out offers are a travesty I wouldn't have thought that offer was based on an expected payout of £15k. His 22/1 bet had won for £230 so the extra £170 seems like a cashout offer for the extra £430 on a coin-flip final.

@@steved8193 messi still had to be best player and Argentina to win so when added to the £400 would still have put it way past £660. £400 going on to 10/11 and messi at 1/2 would have made it a grand. Then the offer of £400 is always lower than what had been accumulated (their cashout offer) so letting it run would have made it about £1,400. In the euros go into a sports book and do the exact same bet. For instance Harry kane best player, England to win and England to play Spain in the final and see if they let you strike the treble. In matches if you build a bet sometimes some come into conflict with each other but I think on this type of bet there is no conflict. As all were predicted way before the tournament and were stand alone bets on their own. We can only see next time around if there is a conflict and whether they pulled a fast one. You will be told straight away online if you can or can not strike a bet like that. We will have to wait and see. I will get back in touch when it happens to let you know.

@@CaanBerryProTrader Its very rare it would be void, on this bet it cant be voided only settled of one of the selections as a single instead of as a treble. But i worked in a bookies 10 years ago and as a fellow gambler i made sure if anyone placed a late bet for example its void but the customer half the time wont realise so throw the bet slip if it lost.. so they are scammed. I made sure to always get that punter his stake back if the bet was late on.. though i know most staff in betting shops dont care about punters. Infact most staff in betting shops hate all sports and gambling in general its just a mundane job for them.

@@CaanBerryProTrader Of course the bet shouldn't have been accepted but it was human error which happens and will always happen no matter how much training the staff are given. I know my example is over the top but if i went in to 20 shops with that bet and one shop accepted the bet without crossing out 500/1 are you saying Coral should pay? The bets taken in error rule is there for protection against human error, mistakes and to stop the scammers. Do you think the rule should be done away with or ignored? If the answer is yes then just imagine the consequences, if the answer is no then Coral shouldn't have to pay.

Punter would've been better off placing £10 on each of the bets as singles given how Coral have screwed him over, and then screwed him over again. As people were pointing out at the time this story hit the press, I believe Coral were, pre-tournament, offering a "Finalists and World Cup winner" market.

As a bookie, I am not reading every single individual bet. The stake will do, any problems found after that is on the customer. Now if I was helping the customer work out their bet, I would have alerted them to the fact they cannot actually have this bet.

There is a few twists when you consider all the tools, AI and tracking they have at their disposal. They spend millions on profiling customers down to the tiniest detail, recording what they are wearing, their car reg outside and what they bet on.... yet somehow they aren't responsible for their own digital system that accepted and recorded the bet, let alone the staff.

totally depends on whos at the till when you go in.. if its some old woman who couldnt name a single footballer and your bet will end up the same as this.. if its a younger lad whos actually interested in sport they will most likley say you cant do that bet.

There is obviously a conflict. If Argentina are 11/2 to win the tournament, they have to reach the final to win the tournament. You don't then get to have the full odds on argentina to reach the final as part of your acca.

Yep. To add an extra here - the digital system the shop uses should have also stopped it. They manage to know everything about customers surely they can record the actual bet lol.

@@CaanBerryProTrader It was a staff error. A basic failure that led to the series of events in the video. Digital systems don't accept the bets, staff do. The system settles the bets that the staff accept and enter the details of. It's like blaming a TV camera for a shitty VAR decision when it's down to the numpty who's looking at it. The bookies do a lot of very dubious things - you've produced videos on most of them, but this is a human error - they either missed it twice (taking and translating) or ignored it the second time (translating) hoping it would 'go away' (lose). Would they have given him his tenner back if it had lost? Of course not. Now we're talking scumbag behaviour from the bookies and the kind of thing needs to be sorted out.
