You may have too much stuff being run off your bike. The alternator will only be small and not powerful enough to drive all the accessories and charge your battery too. You'll find that you'll have the same trouble with a new battery when it gets a bit older

The more zoomed in the better! I always get lost in the peaks so have pockets of it saved just incase 😊

Aaaaaaand breathe 🐑 these are the parts of biking that you look back on fondly and laugh- memories man. I remember taking the wrong turn up horseshoe pass and ending up on a 4ft wide dirt track with a cliff drop on my left, and a sheep deciding to launch itself off it Infront of me... Hi Saffy, glad that you made it in the end. As regards the battery problem - it's a good idea to use a battery conditioner, such as the Optimate, when the bike is stored in winter. It will keep your battery in tip-top condition and avoid breakdowns. Anyway, keep going - I admire your spirit!

Had the same issue with my heated grips and battery a few years ago on the way back from wrexham luckily i was opposite a KwikFit in chester and they jumped started me to get back to home , new battery and BOOM!!! no problems since (fingers crossed) just make sure you are not over loading the new battery or you`ll still have the same issue , great vlog Saffy really enjoying your little adventures and go get em attitude.

21st Dec is the shortest day of the year but not necessarily the darkest. This day was in fact a very bright day. A typical winter day in Wales rainy and v gloomy. Glad enjoyed your day out!

You didn't give up Saffy thats the amazing thing. Heated items pull more power from a battery than you would realise if you get into trouble again I would stop using them. New subscriber here

I love wales superb roads scenery I had a puncture at the top of the Brecon had puncture kit but no pump and no phone signals stuck there for 3 hrs u r brave riding in winter as weather too unpredictable battery too many heated stuff u need to run bike before plugging in . Maybe get a fully fitted bike thanks for video your enjoyment is infectious

Fantastic roads that I've done a couple of times with Ricardo. Fair play to you Saffy for doing it at the time you did. Bugger about the battery but one thing i know from experience is that pushing the bike keeps you VERY warm lol

First time I drove that road was on a recommendation from the friends I was heading to in Lledrod near Aberystwyth. Got to Beulah turned up to Abergwesyn and rode across to Tregaron. Guzzi spada. All in the dark and pissing rain at the end of a 200 mile ride. Sheep in the road, took forever and was I pleased to get to my destination! Rode back in daylight and dry two days later and quite shocked to see how much of a wipeout you could have, all the way along it! Traversed it may times since. Ride safely!

Rode that area many times amazing when that vally opens up in front of you. If (on a longer day) you can incorporate the Elan vally as well it really makes it a special day out. Also those flippin great logging lorries are all meant to have a one way system around the area in order to avoid meeting each other. A local told me witch way round to go.

As someone who lives in South Wales and has had FIVE batteries in five years on two motorcycles, this vid was of special interest to me From experience: motorcycle batteries are of necessity small and light and are marginal at best, it seems to me that the extra load of your heated kit was enough to finish off your already weak battery. The only cure is a new battery. That high power jumper pack used in the garage I’ve been specifically warned against using as there is a possibility of the current surge damaging the bike electrics/ECU and creating a bigger problem further down the line. Breakdown & recovery cover is an absolute must for a motorcycle as very few places will have motorcycle repair facilities and has saved me in the past. Heated kit is brilliant though, now I’ve got it I wonder how I ever managed without it, warm as toast from head to toe. It’s not Wales steepest road though and there are far better rides to be had without travelling too far. But good video and kudos to you.

You have a cliff hanger here Saffy. Will anxiously wait to find out if you made it to another hotel or home. What a ride with an extra storm thrown in for good measure.

Did the “staircase of the devil” last summer, amazing! So many good lanes around that area. Lots of friendly people out and about too. You should try the devil’s bridge next. I’ve planned to try and “collect” all the places in the UK with a similar name. Lucky to live on the Welsh border so practically no travel time.

Good on ya saffy for riding all year round. Nice to see people helping you out when bike failed to start. Great drone footage too. Think the stator output isn't enough to run the bike and lighting plus all the heated gear and heated grips etc at same time. Fully charge your battery and see if the voltage drops over a week when not in use. Or just get your battery tested and get a new battery if need be. Manage the electric draw with all your heated stuff and lower the heated grip settings. If you're using heated grips on full power plus all your heated gear and phone plus whatever else then that stator output will struggle to run the bike electrics as well as everything you're adding. Another possibility is to get a higher output stator or use less additional load on battery.

I think you enjoyed that can you tell me where it is, there are similar roads around lake Vyrnwy central Wales with some amazing views. Loved the vlog almost made me get my own bike out. Steve

When not in use my bike is always connected to a smart battery charger. They MASSIVELY extend battery life. So glad you enjoyed the day! It was my 67th birthday. A date shared with Thomas à Becket, Benjamin Disraeli and Frank Zappa!

Hi Saffy, good to see you out and about in all weathers, definitely will improve your riding.....not saying you are a bad rider by the way. Just a quick tip, although somebody may have mentioned it but if you are riding in the wet, it is really worth spending some time applying dielectric grease to all your electric connections on your bike. It could mean sitting at the side of the road waiting to be rescued or making it to your destination. Most bikes are not made for the great British winter. Have fun and ride safe.
