With the help of the cold winter temperatures we create a makeshift meat cooler to brine our moose roast in for homemade corned moose hash. Snow removal can become a chore during the winter months in Alaska but snowfall also means great riding, we head out for a snowmachine day trip and have some winter fun.
Our 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫 is available for purchase!

Ordering info can be found @ www.createphotocalendars.com/...
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀
Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! 💙
- Eric & Arielle Illia
Corned Moose Brine Recipe:
• 2 lb moose or beef roast
• 4 quarts of water
• 1 1/2 cups of kosher salt
• 1/2 cup of brown sugar
*herbs and spice of your choice
Instructions:
1) Bring water to a boil then add salt and sugar, stir to dissolve.
2) Add herbs and spices, simmer for 10 minutes then remove from heat and allow brine mixture to cool to room tempature or colder.
3) Submerge roast in brine, place in fridge for 4 to 5 days (not recommended longer without the use of curing salt).
4) Remove roast from brine, pat dry with clean towel and cook as desired. Enjoy!

Little tip with your egg layers. During winter add some cayenne pepper in their feed and that will stimulate more egg laying. Chickens dont have heat receptors in their mouths so it want hurt them but like with humans when you eat enough cayenne pepper it gives you a warm feeling in your belly an other innards and that helps stimulate the laying
@PurtyPurple
@PurtyPurple 3 жыл бұрын
I heard that the reason peppers are spicy is to deter mammals while allowing birds to eat them and spread the seeds further. Of course, then humans came along...

When I was in the Air Force (I'm retired now after serving 20 years) I was stationed in Anchorage for 7 years. It is such a beautiful state. I have to admit the winters were a little long for me, but I tried to keep myself busy. Who doesn't stay busy though with 4 kids and a full time job outside the home. LOL Now that my kids are adults and have their own children, they want to go back to Alaska and show their kids what it's like. If you ever get the chance to visit Alaska, I say, "Go For It." Make sure to carry mosquito repellant though. The state bird of Alaska is called, "the mosquito." I'm sure Eric and Arielle can attest to that. Love watching their channel. It brings back so many memories.

Australia here, I Adore all of your video's, But this one is up there in my top ten.. 15f= -4c how I wish I was there. Here in Victoria Australia it's our summer temperatures range from 19 degrees Fahrenheit= 66F to 46+ Degrees = 114 Fahrenheit, I'm Allergic to summer, sun, humidity, flies, mozzies, spiders and Most Human's lol. Awww heck I'm a hermit and I like it that way. But if I didn't have my family here in Australia my country, I would move to Alaska and live the dream. But then again the work needed to live your life is darn hard work. But for such a young couple you Ariel and Eric have achieved what we your subscribers dream of. Thank you so much for sharing your life. I hope 2021 brings you nothing but Health Happiness and for without those two things you have nothing. xoxo hugs to "bandit" "beau" "cat" "hunter with the Angel's. 🕊😇⛄💗

Very enjoyable video (as usual). The "baggie in the wind" outtake immediately reminded me of an experience I had this past summer while vacationing / isolating at an oceanside property located in the OBX of NC. Long story short.. Davey Jones is sporting a cool camo ballcap after my having unsuccessfully chased after mine for about 100 yards along the surf's edge. Yes.. I was mugged by the wind and its' accomplice; the ocean. I suppose it's probably a noob mistake learned early on by residents and frequent beachgoers.. "keep a hand, or lanyard, or hoodie on your ballcap when it's windy, or turn it around so the bill doesn't act like a wind scoop...". Ah... live and learn, I guess... I only wish I'd been schooled by the wind before sacrificing my favorite cap to the elements...
