You Gotta love Winter in South Texas. We get some great weather windows with warm temperatures, calm winds and green water to the beach.
We took advantage of one of those recent weather windows and headed down Padre Island National Seashore out of Corpus Christi Texas. It was a great trip with beautiful water and warm weather.
We even caught a few fish. Everything from redfish, whiting, spanish mackerel, speckled trout and a huge stingray. Beach driving was great and we had miles of beach all to ourselves.
Padre Island National Seashore is 60 miles of barrier island, most of which is only accessible by 4 wheel drive vehicles. You can catch a low tide and sometimes make it down island, but you risk getting stuck, or stranded by high tide.
The tow fees are very expensive, so don't try it unless you have a 4 wheel drive, and then it's best to go with at least one other vehicle just in case you need a hand.
