Two things: 1. I misspoke about High Side Coffee, they're actually based in California. I don't know where I got the idea of SLC. 2. In case you're thinking "Hey, they got too close to that bear!", I wanted to make it clear: we stopped at the pull-out to observe the bear at the distance that the national park service recommends for viewing bears. The bear proceeded to come closer and I chose not to move the vehicle because I did not want to startle the bear by suddenly moving the car. We were safe inside the vehicle and the bear was not bothered by our presence. It would have absolutely been way too close if we were not in the car.

It must be great to be there for the first snowfall that settles on the ground; at the very cusp of where Autumn - okay, fall! - meets winter. 😀 Imagine all those golden hues and then a thick white coat on the forest and surrounding mountain meadows. It must be a surreal experience.

Ditch the second row seats. I fought the urge for too long but once I did take them out, I’ll never go back. Definitely way more room for the wife and I and makes climbing in at night much easier.

The sequoia is still my daily driver and I still need the second row from time to time. Hoping to buy a third car soon, however, that I can daily drive and use the sequoia only for trips. Then, we would definitely remove the second row

Question, when camping out like this in Bear country, what do you guys do with your food leftovers, pots, scented items and trash? Bear container? Hanging bag from a tree?
@TheFraziers
@TheFraziers 4 ай бұрын
A lot of campsites in the greater Yellowstone area have dedicated bear boxes which is most ideal. Typically we’ll clean everything as good as possible and store it in the vehicle. The national park service and NFS have determined that closed and locked vehicles are adequate food storage in bear country (a few parks have exceptions to this rule). They do stipulate the food should be in a cooler or refrigerator in addition to being inside the vehicle.

@@TheFraziers Awesome! thank you so much for the fast response. Love the content BTW! I'll be visiting Grand Teton and Yellowstone this summer, it will mostly be dispersed camping. I was not sure how to deal with storing food, or any scented item. I tend to sleep inside my 4runner with a bed setup so wasn't sure what others were doing when it came to this.

Unpopular opinion, solid axles are overrated. I’d definitely trade our solid axle for independent suspension to get that completely flat rear compartment. Most of us aren’t off roading hard enough to get the benefits of a solid axle.

Curious why you don’t just remove the center seats. I took mine out and those puppies are HEAVY. Not only does it free up some valuable space, it also cuts some unnecessary weight. Great vids, my friends. It’s been wonderful to watch your channel grow.

@TheFraziers
@TheFraziers Жыл бұрын
It has a big 26 gallon tank so honestly we’ve never felt the need to carry additional fuel. The trick is to fill up long before you need to and anticipate long stretches without an available station.

@TheFraziers

For right now, we have no plans of changing rigs anytime soon. We’ve got some emotional attachment for our sequoia haha. But if we do ever upgrade, I really think we’ll go for a Tundra with a four wheel camper. That combination seems to strike up a great balance between size, capability, and camping comfort.

Big tank capacity and improved mpgs makes for good range. They also now finally have an option for a rear locker. Sounds like a winning combination to me for overlanding.
