In this video, Danny was solo as Kailey was feeling a bit under the weather. He decided to hit Silverton Reservoir that had been recently stocked with Rainbow Trout. He found a spot he hadn't fished before by some fallen timber. Fishing was lights out! Easy, quick limits on a beautiful day in the Pacific Northwest!
Thanks for watching!

So what do you do with these fish brother?
@northwestweekenders
@northwestweekenders Жыл бұрын
Cut them up and use them for crab bait most of the time. Other times will give them to family/friends and eat occasionally.

@@FATHERSOFBASS Honestly it isn't our favorite fish to eat either but some lemon and jalapeno seems to add a lot of good flavor.

Do you find that they make good crab bait? I tried using trout in the past a couple of times but crab didn't seem to be interested in them.

Yes! We've had good luck with them in Newport and Waldport consistently. We marinate it usually for 24 hours before using which helps. Cut into 3rds and they make great chunks of bait.

2. Do you use a bobber
@northwestweekenders
@northwestweekenders Жыл бұрын
@@madturtle5931 We always change casting distances. When fishing 2 poles we'll usually spread out and each do one about 10- 15 yards out and then bomb one as far as possible and find where we are getting the most action and then try to consistently hit that spot. I'd say some of those casts are going 30-40 yards. Hard to tell though.

@@madturtle5931 We do use bobbers on occasion but not at this location. Just bottom with a Carolina rig and long leader (3-5 feet).

terrable that you would use those as crab bait. evil. if you are not going to dont kill. you are old enough to know that. learn to cook

We find it to be an affordable and resourceful way of getting bait. Bait can be expensive. We like to stock up on Trout, Shad, and other fish to use during our heavy crabbing months.

@@northwestweekenders use cheap chicken for bait. trout are great table fair and a valuable resource. catch and release our catch and cook not crab bait. maybe filet them and use the carcas . you need to have some respect for trout.
@northwestweekenders
@northwestweekenders 3 ай бұрын
@@timothymartin664 We respect your input but personally feel that stocked trout aren't the greatest eating. Some people enjoy eating shad, and some don't but it's heavily used for crab bait. We see a lot of trout used as bait where we crab. To each their own I guess.

Lots of trout from ODFW have cauliflower disease. Pretty disappointing, I’m not sure what’s going on in their facilities.
