Whenever I get asked what is your favourite track this one always comes to mind. Most other bands can only dream of this level of composition, musicianship and performance. I love this band.

Kai is a very precise drummer, he is known as the human metronome. As others have said, he and the bassist are now part of Nightwish.

Cosmic, dude, I am with you. Hey I love the fact that Nightwish has enriched their lineup with Kai and Juka, but whether Jari rebuilds with them or not I would love for Wintersun to return for another round. It's hard to explain for me, but the sound Wintersun produces, the harmony configured of their vocals, sound, and intent is just special.

The drummer Kai Hahto is the current drummer from Nightwish. Since 2015 i believe, not sure. The bassist from Wintersun is the current bassist from Nightwish who replaced Marko. He became a permanent member last year. Hope he will also sing in new Nightwish music. Try “Sons of Winter and Stars” from the same studiosessions next. Even more insane drumming. This Metal cake is layered like an epic heavy symphony !!!! Also, yes, the drummer: Kai Hahto is "The Human Metronome", or in my book Kai "The Machine Gun" Hahto ( is a Finnish musician and drummer). Hahto was a member of the grindcore band Rotten Sound. Hahto then recorded with the band Wintersun as a session drummer before joining them as a band member. Hahto has an endorsement relationship with Meinl cymbals, Pearl drums and hardware, Balbex drumsticks, Roland V-Drums and Finfonic earphones. On 6 August 2014, it was announced that Hahto will be playing drums on the forthcoming Nightwish album, replacing Jukka Nevalainen, who went on hiatus from the band due to insomnia, and Hahto performed on all live shows since that date. On July 15, 2019, Hahto became Nightwish's permanent drummer following Nevalainen's decision not to return to the band. NWSU 🤘😎🤘.

The complexity in Wintersun's songs is amazing. All those tracks layered together. I think that's part of the reason they actually put out so little music. I hope that the new album, which has been in the works "forever" comes out soon. And, though I generally have a hard time with gutterals, for some reason Jari's don't bother me at all. Maybe because I can understand what he is singing even with the gutterals? And Kai Hatto is a true master of the drums. And, from what I can see on his Facebook page, a really nice guy.

Most of the intenfity from the deums comes from incredible speed and endurance on the double bass drums. And his toms are s larger fiameter than most drummers which also contributes to thè depth of sound.

This was Kaj's moment to shine. But Sons of Winter and Stars is that even more. Jari, the singer here, composed, played and mixed everything else than drums. For drums he called Kaj to compose and play them and because this is layered and rather heavy music Kaj got to really show his skills without overpowering rest of the instruments. Drum cameras from him playing these in some drummer convention are hilarious. He looks like he's having a fun picnic and the passersby cannot comprehend how he can do it at all, let alone without looking like he's straining himself at all.

I hope you've given this album a full listen a few times, because it's the greatest album ever written.

I didn't see any other comments mentioning this, so here goes: This album (or "half," considering it's a Part 1) is arranged as one long tapestry of composition. Every track moves into the next and leads to this song as a climactic finale. Whether you "properly" react to it or not, listen to the whole album from the instrumental intro track all the way to the end in one go. It's one of those "life changing experiences" that all music lovers seek out. (Also, they've played a track from Time II live a bunch of times, but haven't released a studio version. Look up "The Way of the Fire." A good performance was the House of Blues 2013 one, which I went to - good sound quality and good performance, especially Jari working the crowd in the beginning of it. :D)

From what I found out, they have 4 albums in the works, and one of them was already 90% done since 2021. maybe its remasters but we may see one next year.

I don't know if you are familiar with them, but Gojira have another one of those human metronome drummers, by many viewed as one of the best drummers today. They are one of my favorite bands along with Opeth, Enslaved, Jinjer and Nightwish. If you are unfamiliar with them then I would suggest starting with either Art of Dying or The Gift of Guilt (live at Brixton Academy). As for Jinjer, Opeth and Enslaved, if you haven't heard them I highly recommend checking all three out. Great reaction! My favorite Wintersun song. I love the complexity and layering of this song. Sons of Winter and Stars is similar in it's complexity. Both from the Time album where there are upwards of 200 tracks layered for each song. Perhaps it is time for some folk metal with Jari's previous band Enisferum. He was with them on their first two albums before they had a disagreement over the amount of time he was investing in his solo project which became Wintersun and they parted ways. It´s so mysterious for me, that he doesnt release any new music. Would be so great if he would put out another one, which is as good as the debut.

Not a metal band, but a great one and specially great lyrics, Poets of the Fall. They have so many great songs to choose from, quite many start their journey with 'Carneval of rust'. I also just love their newest album, Ghostlight and then there is of cause Alexander Theatre sessions, where they play 12 of their songs acoustically.

I get why people like the album " Time" so much, but I found them right after Jari left Ensiferum. It took a bunch of years for them to finish this album. In that time, their first album became untouchable to me. It will always be a cut above the rest.

In the meantime I don`t expect you to make a vid of this or anything but I think you will like this, completely made by me in my home studio originally about 10/11 years ago, the style of this one I would call epic Blackened Folk Metal. back in the 90s I used to co-own a commercial studio with the band Portishead and I was a driving force behind album releases by 2 of my own bands Whores of Babylon & Soundisciples during 1992 - 2000. This track was part of a later home studio project album that wasn`t properly released and was my foray into the heavier side of things compared to my other bands. To my knowledge, Jari only sings with one lung because he had the other removed for some reason. To be able to sing that using the breath capacity of only one lung is ridiculous. This dude deserves way more credit than he gets.

Wintersun is just intense and sometimes the intensity is turned down but it doesn't feel like it I love the lead singers melodic voice almost more than I admire his growls............ It's kind of living hypocrisy for me because I'm a huge Nightwish land but I really dig wintersun but unfortunately they only exist in a vacuum right now it's kind of sad

I was really looking forward to how this song progressed.(Had heard the name before but never heard the band). There is a long list of bands (esp European) that possess talented musicians that have abilities to play better than average, compose better than average and then....no vocal melody ability, and simply add a monotony of screaming lyrics to the mix. Against belief I hate to call it lack of ability or talent, but thats how it comes across. I just don't get it. Melody is what creates power. Highs lows, tension. If you just go on like a rabid cookie monster, the music has to work that much harder to create mood because, vocally, you're always at 11. I literally turn it off when I hear that stuff. I've never understood the desire to play instruments very well and then add screaming over the whole thing. Judas Priest was perfect at creating the build and then somewhere there was that SCREAM or soaring vocal part that was just the icing on the cake that made you go YEAHHHHHH! Even Priest has been supplanted by Lovebites for me. This band may not do that on every song. I may give it another chance, but I usually just turn it off after the first verse if this is what I'm hearing. I can't take screamo vocals as the only option. And I was weaned on Priest, Motorhead, Deep Purple, Queensryche. Favorite thrash band is Testament. I just can't do all scream all the time. I'm gonna get lit on this comment aren't I.😉
