For 'Arctic Thunder' my upcoming Viper campaign I teamed up with ‪@WINWING-SIMULATOR‬ who sent me a full set of F-16 gear so I can test my campaign as it was meant to be played. Here's a review of the ICP/DED.

As example: In the F-14 I assigned every Jester command, from 1 to 8, into the ICP's numpad and Jester toggle menù to Enter key on the ICP. Life changing for me.

I like the different angle you took for this review. I fly the Hornet exclusively when it comes to modern jets, but I love the Spitfire when it comes to warbirds (in your campaigns specifically). Your comments on how it can apply to warbirds is great. I've been thinking of expanding into the Viper and this kind of helps, since I have a pretty reasonable Hornet simpit already and adding the Viper ICP looks like a dead-easy addition. Thanks! In my book: the more buttons and switches you have the better. The rest is up to your creativity.

yep I use my MIP MFD's for the buttons in nearly every aircraft i fly, maybe not all the buttons but a lot of them

Mine came yesterday and what can I say except: I love it! Fits perfectly in my WW F-16EX HOTAS system and as you said it makes flying the Viper so intuitive. Thanks for the review, cheers Milan

I have the WinWing ICP and atm playing your Weasels Campaign, where this gadget really gets to shine! And such a supergreat campaign! But man, you really need a pair of table mounts as your next buy! That will totally complete all that nice gear of yours! :)

16 ICP is more elegant of a control system than the 18 UFC.

Got it together with 3 mfd's and screens. Its a game changer. Make everything in the Viper so much easier, faster and more fun.

I thought I might let you know. I purchased the ICP and upon receipt and inspection I decided to return the product. Well, this process has been a nightmare. I never install the ICP or unpackaged it from the wrappings. Since Feb' 24 I've been asked to sent various pictures of the product and still have not received a return authorization. It's probably me but I thought I would share with the folks since in your review you mentioned that WInWing reached out to you and provide you with the product to promote sales.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I bought my stick the usual way, it wasn’t sent for free and I had no issues with their customer service. Maybe the Chinese New Year caused some of the delays?

I have been using the Winwing ICP since it was released. I really like it. It adds a hole new level of immersion. Really looking forward to your campaign. Did Winwing send you the MFSSB Orion base? I would love to know what you think of it.

Thanks! No, I have the normal Orion base for the stick. I wouldn't be able to use the MFSSB for other aircraft I think.

I use the Multiporpose UFC, which is layout for most Jets. YOu just change the frontplate, which is Magnetic. I am really happy with it. Spec for Guys flying diffrent planes.

I would love to have some sort of UFC/ICP for DCS. My go to would be the newer one of the F15E, if someone would produce it. But I‘m contemplating if it is really worth it as a VR user, because pressing all those buttons „blind“ maybe isn’t that intuitive, and not that much faster compared to simply using the mouse. Did you try the ICP while flying in VR aswell?

Yes in VR too. Easy to find the buttons with your eyes closed, but I can peek through the gap over my nose too.

DCS on a Laptop? Oh boy I did that for a while, also with VR. The thing was burning hot. Guess I was just lucky that it didn`t catch fire.

Hey quick question, when not flying the viper, is there any function to the display? Like does it display any flight data ect.? Cheers for your work!!

Not that I know of, it only displays the Viper’s data.

Did you get the MFD's as well? I see that WinWing sells the DED with the 2 MFD's as a package. Was surprised as well you play DCS on a laptop. I figured you'd have a high-end system with large monitors etc etc

How do those suction cups work on a textured desk?

It doesn’t use suction cups but 2 sided sticky tapes. And they work perfrctly. I have an unfinished wooden desk.

Would you use this in VR? I play in VR solely with virpil controls. Muscle memory means i know exactly where everything is even with the headset on. Im wondering hoe useful this would be. Has anyone tried in VR. Obviously its a shame about the DED as would not see that.

Yes you nees the SimAppPro software to communicate with dcs

is made of plastic?? so what? Plastic was a the best composition material ever invented, even jets and airliners use common plastic in certain parts of the cockpit. if somehow plastic would be forbidden to use today, the world would be doomed

@@generic_luke I can't speak to this particular piece of equipment, as I don't have it. I do have the winwing MFD panels though (just the button panels, not the screens) and they're brilliant. I paid full price for them and would absolutely recommend them. Given my experience with those, I completely believe everything being said in this review.

I see what you mean. However, I wouldn’t say anything in a paid review that I wouldn’t say in an unpaid one. Also, if you look at most of the reviews on KZfaq, all DCS youtubers got it for free to review it. In the video I tried not to sound like a newsboy ‘hey buy this!’ - but rather share my thoughts from a different aspect. I stand by everything I said ;)
