This would limit both speed of lift, maximum altitude and speed. Further noted, that load capacity would also be affected. The number of souls on board were listed as maximum for a 4 roter chopper but only had two. So what likely happened. Chopper could not gain altitude as quickly as necessary, foggy conditions made finding a way across the area difficult but impossible!

The first problem that I picked up was that the Commander of the Fleet was at the controls. Commanders spend a lot of time at the desk, in meetings and not in the air. I remember after covid there was some concern over pilots getting rusty and maybe needing some sim time before being allowed to fly full time again. The guy says that there was a patch of cloud just over a cliff and that it appeared to be localized. This sounds like a cloud formed by orographic lift. It is what happens when air flows over rising terrain. It is cooled, and clouds can form. Weather & geography people should be able to explain this. You will also need to talk to pilots, perhaps even people in the glider community to tell you if the lack of turbulence in a cloud generated by orographic lift is normal or not. Now, I am presuming that they were already in the cloud when the commander gave the instruction to increase altitude. In the Kobe Bryant helicopter crash, the pilot was in the midst of low cloud conditions and trying to get out of it. When he thought he was rising to get above the cloud he was in fact descending. And the reason he might not have been aware of that, was because he inadvertently put the helicopter into a turn. The g-forces of the turn were misleading. And because he couldn't see the horizon, there was no way he could tell that unless he noticed his altimeter going the wrong way. And based on the air traffic control recordings, who he was talking to at the time, there is no indication that he was aware that he had done so. He was probably just focusing outside to see when he broke cloud cover instead of focusing on his instruments. Was the commander rated for instrument flying? When was the last time he practiced this? When they got onto Hashim, it sounds like they had already hit the terrain. The helicopter had broken up in the process and he was already flung out in the trees and badly injured. The rescuers would need to confirm that they did find him among the trees and the state of his injuries. Maybe you should try to get some retired people to interview to verify if what I have said is possible or not.

The logic is, if all choppers were flying at the same altitude, fowl play would clearly be observed. However, with the other choppers above the chopper in question, observing the trail of events below becomes considerably difficult.

Probable it was too late for the pilot to do the ascending. The chopper might have hit a tree or the tip of the mountain because the portion was covered with a small patch of clouds and did not realized that he was too close to the ground or tip of the mountain.
