I literally was feeling the same thing about the event being a promotional thing because it took the fun out of doing the diamond paintings in which the events are supposed to be for… And I definitely do see the same group of people with the same group of people. So many things. Let me start by saying that I’m so sorry for your loss. Grandpas are super special and it sounds like yours was amazing. You hit the nail on the head. I’ve been diamond painting since early 2018. It’s next to impossible to find a comfortable place in the community here on KZfaq. What you have said here is pretty much what I’ve said to my husband many times. I could say more but I’ll leave it at that. Anyway, you are not alone in your thoughts and feelings.

I also just want to add that as a total beginner, I’ve asked you loads of questions and you’ve always been ready and willing to answer without making me feel like it’s a stupid question (even if it kind of is. 😂) It’s so important for beginners to have people to come to so they can ask those questions and you have done a wonderful job making me feel welcome, even though I don’t necessarily consider myself a part of the community because I don’t post anything. So, thank you. Keep doing you friend. ☀️

Your video just popped up and caught my attention. As a creator I would like to say I understand your feelings. Your feelings are yours and valid to you. I personally always try my best to be inclusive and welcoming. I always want my events to fun, few rules Etc.. Deadlines for events are necessary in regards to giving away prizes and then moving on to the next event. Positivity is always the goal. Sharing the enjoyment of diamond painting is wonderful. I agree with you so much about how meditative diamond painting is for the mind. I’m currently going through quite extensive breast cancer treatment and DP is helping me to slow down my thoughts, be mindful, and be “slow productive” during treatment. Sending love during your grief. Xx Edit - I also totally agree regarding the corporate mentality that goes into events, or even many channels to be honest. I just do my own thing with DP and don’t care about anything else. I also have a fairly significant stash, and now that I’ve been grappling with my own mortality, I’m like “who the heck would I bequeath these to?”

i 1000000000 % agree about the events , they are fun dont get me wrong but the time limit thing ya i feel that , it adds a stress onto a hobbie that is meant to be relaxing. Then theres events where it has to be a piece of licenced art , but not everyone can afford that. And the feeling left out in the event i feel that so so so so much , i live in canada and we loose out alot on what prizes and or events to participate in which makes this side of the community very frusterated. Your feelings are valid and this was a great video! So sorry for your loss, you are in our thoughts during this difficult time. That’s great you got to spend time with your family. I feel the same when I attend some lives. So, I’ll join some and when I start feeling that way then I leave the live and go do something else. We hope people don’t feel that way when we go live. I totally get not having friends and wanting people to like you and how that feels. We do host events and hope that word of mouth brings more people to our small business. It’s a lot of work to host events and so it is helpful to creators to get subscribers through it and businesses to get sales. Sponsoring events is a way for us to reach people we might not otherwise and support the creators and people in the community. The pressure to participate in events is real and when I feel like I’m participating but not doing kits I want to, then I either create my own event 🤣 or I take a break from participating in as many events.

I feel exactly the same way about the community as you do. And that is OK. This is my fist time here and it is nice to have an honest and genuine creator to watch and listen to. I am fairly new to DP, but an avid crafter for a long time. It is surprising and sad to hear that there is drama in the do world. I just think as crafters we should be encouraging and nurturing each other. There is room for everyone, no need for jealousy, prejudice or being anything other than kind and encouraging to others. Thank goodness we are all different. It would be a pretty boring world if we were all the same. ❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

All I can say is that I’m so glad I found your channel, I feel that your a very honest person and I love that, your what I call a real person, I love what you do, I love what you share and of course I love diamond painting lol, you have a great personality. If your channel has got this big this quickly then your obviously doing something right. I am glad you had this discussion. I keep hearing content creators complaining about the negativity in the community. I have never been able to figure out where all the negativity exists. I don't see it since I don't like live events. I only watch wip & chats. Good luck with your channel.

Sorry you have been having a hard time lately. I have boundaries on my KZfaq and posting and taking part in events and lives etc. I dont want to lose the reason why I started diamond painting and I dont want to burn out on DP and youtube. So I have to be very intentional and make sure I take time to just enjoy dp with out filming and with out events. Otherwise it can takeover everything! I hope you are feeling better now. 💖

I agree with a lot of what you've mentioned. There are a few creators that I have had to unsub from for reasons I won't go into. So far I've not felt the desire to participate in events because I enjoy to work on my kits at my own speed though I like to watch the videos & always try to encourage those that are participating good luck! It is unfortunate that just like any group there are unfriendly people in the bunch but I try to not let that spoil the community as a whole because most of us are lovely people 😊 I am so glad I discovered your channel a little while ago!

Hi Merry, I love your channel and I have been catching up on your older videos. Hugs on the loss of your grandfather. It brought tears to my eyes because my father and mother were the same age as your grandparents and were married for 65 years too. My father passed away 2 years ago and my mother passed away a year ago this month. Looks like you’re a Clemson fan. I won’t hold that against you. Go Gamecocks! 😂 I live in Greenville, SC. Just moved up here in 2021 from the Charleston to be closer to my youngest daughter and grandson. My 2 oldest daughters still live in the Charleston area and visit often which is nice. My husband passed away 2 days before my dad. When I’m having a bad day I like to watch your channel because you always put a smile on my face and make me feel better. ❤ Keep doing what you’re doing! I’m pretty knew to the diamond painting community and haven’t participated in any events or lives so I haven’t experienced anything that you mentioned but it’s sad that you and others have gotten that unwelcome feeling. Thanks for saying this. I am not a KZfaqr, but have partisipated in some lives. And I always left pretty quick because of the reactions I got. I always try to be kind and polite, but yet the responce was to either ignore me, or be offended. Once I asked "what is Colombus day. because I am not American, I have not heard about it," and it was the subject of the chat. Several people got so offended that I just left. The same has happend several times with diferent themes and aproaches in different chats. Or I just got ignored. In real life people tend to like me, so it is not my manners. I thougt it was me that unknowingly offended every person I aproached here on the lives. That it was some cultural taboo I broke or something. It is a big relieve to know it is not me. Thanks for bringing this up. And thank you to the KZfaqrs that really welcome everybody, like you do. :)🌞

The having no friends hit me hard. I’ve not had any friends since 2013 except a few people online that I can’t meet up with. We mostly just play games together and don’t really have a lot of meaningful conversations. I’ve never participated in an event since I don’t want to buy a kit just so I can join. I will however enter one in August since I already own like 3 kits that would fit the event. 🌞

This "community" business always seems to devolve into a weird cult atmosphere. The creators I enjoy the most just do their own thing, share finds and tips, show finishes, and actually seem to enjoy the craft. My suggestion is make the content you want and brush up on working the algorithm to capture viewers. Or go full drama and name names...that always seems to get the views up. lol

I really enjoyed this video. How do i find your blog? I hate lives I just won't. I'm almost 7months into the DP world. I try channels that others recommend. Some I like some... hard pass. I compete with only myself. I will watch an event but I can't see myself ever doing one. I caught a creator lying last week I unsubbed and moved along.no need to be negative.
