R.I.P. Peter Tomarken one of my favorite game show hosts and R.I.P. his wife Kathleen as well

I liked when Peter hosted Press Your Luck. Getting a Wipeout was much like getting a Whammy.

This was always my favorite game show and hosted by one of my favorite game show hosts.

I will miss Peter Tomarken. I loved how he broked the rules gently to Victoria. That is what you call good hosting.

A solid game show that deserved a longer run. Also sad to see the game show industry turn against a criminally underrated host in Peter Tomarken by the late 80s after Tisch-era CBS killed their ratings golden goose that was Press Your Luck.

Wipeout in my area came on at 3 pm on Channel 5 WOI-TV (ABC affiliate) right after General Hospital.

The Carpenters question was so easy. OK, if you were a huge fan. I'd have right off the bat said I'll get all 8. Easy peasy. I could even name the artists of the songs that weren't The Carpenters. Also, easy. Without googling: Feelin' Groovy was Simon and Garfunkel; Time In A Bottle, Jim Croce; Mockingbird, Carly Simon and James Taylor; and Both Sides Now, Judy Collins. OK, I listened to a lot of Top 40 music in the 70s and Paul Simon was my hero growing up. All were favorites of mine though Collins not quite as much as the others. Never missed Casey Kasem.

The CHallenge round prize was usually a trip. This was one of the rare times it wasn't, but the Hot Spot prize was a trip. The announcer here is Bob RIdgely, whose voice wasn't normally associated with game shows.

In the first round, as the contestants would play a play off grid if 2 contestants had the same amount of cash at the end, in the UK version if that happened, then the contestant with the most right answers or the least wrong answers would go through.

Interesting game show! The first round definitely reminded me of a trivia version of Press Your Luck, especially with Tomarken as host. The bonus round at the end reminded me of Vanna White pressing the letters on the puzzle board, even the sound effects matched. The bonus round seemed incredibly difficult though, the contestant seemed to be hitting her answers in at random as she most likely didn't have a clue what the answers where. Seas on the moon, really?!

They misspelled "fuchsia" on the video board. I guess it really is the Trump edition.

Good game show indeed! I noticed they kept showing a large number 8 with a small NBC peacock logo right next to it at the bottom of the screen quite often. By any chance did this game show air on KGNS-TV 8 in Laredo, Texas? Just wondering.

This is from probably the week of 10/24/1988 or 10/31/1988(they did a Halloween themed episode on 10/31) as 10/24/1988 is when WIpeout started having returning champions(as they say the winner of this game is playing their second bonus round, and the opening where they state which one was the returning champ is cut off of this video)

I like the creative spelling of "fuscha" (it should be "fuchsia" on the example Donald Trump board). Clearly the writing department was hurting for money if they couldn't even afford a dictionary. And the casting department must have been just as desperate, considering how stupid all three of these contestants were. It's clear that the "champ" was making wild guesses at the end. Though I do admire her hustle.

A good episode, from when Trump was just known as a rich guy with bad hair instead of a hatemonger with bad hair. And I thought the contestant would have gotten the endgame.
