Specific requests from Kevin and Sarah on KZfaq and Facebook. This can be a symptom after removing the wipers for a battery replacement. The trick is not rotating the wiper motors during the removal and reinstallation.

More info: just undo the front door of the battery box, remove top bracket and cables, and very strugglingly tip it upright and pull it out. (It’s heavy that’s why it feels like it won’t come out) Rubber gloves helps

Pro tip. If you keep the ignition to key one engine off. It locks the motors. So there is no chance to mess up the motor rest position. Then it makes it less sensitive once you reset home position

My only thing to add is to turn the key on, or push the button on push-start models, and with the wipers OFF first. This will secure the motor shaft in its stationary position for replacement of the arms. I've done this method myself on my 2015 Escape. GREAT videos you produce on the Escape.

Thanks for posting this. We had some extended work done on our Escape and when we got it back we thought all was well. Have not used the wipers until today and sure enough there was a problem. Not only was there a misalignment, but they had put the arms on the wrong side. Also had to do a BMS reset since they had taken the battery off several times. I'm not a mechanic at all so videos like this really saved me. Thank you.

Same issue here. Just got my car back from mechanic and the windshield wipers now cross each other as they come back to resting, so they are no longer parallel, but crisscross while resting.

Thank you for the video. Huge help after replacing the battery. Who would have thought that we remove several parts for a battery.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This worked exactly as described on the first try -- not always the case when I try to fix a car issue (haha).

Mate just did this to my 2017 escape which had a real weird wiper action on the 6th stroke , when the wipers were up they would isolate but only after every 6 cycle or if you hit the intermittent they would isolate every 1st cycle really weird but I watched your vid and it fixed the issue . Cheers !

My guidelines seemed to be in reverse, but that could be due to after-market windshield? Running the motor with the arm off sounded like an extra step, but one I ended up needing to do. Thanks for posting, I'm set for the snow tomorrow.

Perfect. Solved the issue with my '17 Escape blades hitting each other on the down stroke.
