This is an amazing video and I probably would have had to take this to a shop if it didnt exist. I did fine with just a regular socket set. Took about an hour just from sweating and having to let my fingers rest from cramping up.

What if you don't have the factory code? I just got one used and it's not in the manual. And I only got 1key. So I can't do that trick to find your code
@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews

Hey there- if you don't have the factory code and you have a '13-'19 Escape, you can find the code located on a sticker on the BCM, which is a fuse/connector/computer box located in the passenger front footwell behind the glovebox. We did a video on finding the code and it doesn't have anything to do with only having one key so you should be good to go there - hope this helps! You don't have to remove the wipers for battery access. I have changed the battery on my daughter's 2013 Escape twice and have never removed the wipers. People are making this more complicated than this needs to be. And since I have never removed the wipers I have never needed to calibrate them.

So if I'm pulling assemblies from the junkyard, it seems like I could take a holesaw to the bumper cover and skip a lot of that fun.

oh yeah! That would definitely save you some time haha! I'm sure you already thought about this, but just gotta be careful to not press too much into the bumper cover as you wouldn't want to cut into the lamp housing mounting features as well- hope you can find a good one for a steal!

I have a 2016 ford escape se that has about 165,000 miles on it. I guess that's when the trans is set to explode? Anyway, when its cold, it seems to work. As it gets warmer, 1st gear doesn't want to click in right away. Moreover, there seems to be a mechanism that puts the throttle in idle. Any trans folks have any ideas?
@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews 3 күн бұрын
Oh man, so the 165kmi is just when ours went out as well haha. Unfortunately there have been others who have had it go sooner and later, but it's just this design of transmission that really stinks :/ 6F35 6 speed transmission if you'd like to look up some info about it.... My suggestion would be to try a drain and fill to get some newer fluid inside and then check the fluid level with the leveling port on the driver's wheel well. If it's still doing that after the fluid change and up to temp, it could be something more serious. In terms of the mechanism mentioned and it being in idle, are you saying that you'll be in Drive and it will go into Neutral? If so, it could be your shift cable bushing failing and your drive selector lever on the top of the transmission could be out of sync with your shift lever in the cabin. Please respond when convenient- very interested to know a bit more. Thanks!

@johnabbottphotography 3 күн бұрын
@@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews Yes... I'll be in drive, and then suddenly, the car drops to neutral. I had a trans guy look at it, and he told me that it needs a complete rebuild. ($5,700!) I'm getting a second opinion tomorrow. So brutal.

I did allot of towing with my 2016 2.0, so I changed the trans fluid every 40,000 miles. At a 157,000 miles I traded it in for a 2023 Escape with the 2.0. This 2023 is full of technology which I am still figuring out. I am reading on the Escape 2023+ Facebook group that Ford is not going to build anymore Escapes after 2024, so maybe getting a lease turn in, in 2025-2026 would be a great deal.

This is an older video, but I'll point a couple things out.... first off, you need to apply more silicone than that, and not just "in" the holes. You'll push that through with the screws. There needs to be some on the mating surface around the screw between the feet and the roof "around" the hole. These things are notorious for leaking. Also, you need to clean and inspect the whole channel between the feet. There is a hard sealant that has been painted over at the factory (there is a roof joint in that channel). Also known for happening is for that sealant to crack due to body flex and expansion/contraction, and you can usually see the paint cracked too. Inspect well, as you may need to reseal the entire channel, and you want to do that BEFORE adding the 3m tape covers.

Thanks for the data, I have the 2.0 ecoboost and I'm finding that after changing the solenoids on the bottom side with the brand new turbo and the top side with a new solenoid I've changed other sensors. Just not the ones that are connected to the throttle body because I'm under the impression on the 2.0 ecoboost it is a all-in-one unit. Any advice for me for my next step I would have greatly appreciate it
